Cue "Arkham and LEGO Batman 3 on GOG when?" posts.

(Not that they wouldn't be justified - especially with LEGO Batman 3)

Hmm. Why not? Free games are free. Thanks for the info.

I probably still have the store installer somewhere on my PC back from when I was trying the new Unreal Tournament (before it was killed). Will just hook the games to my account and uninstall again.

You can get games without Epic launcher, just from site.

Even better. Thanks.

Given that the quality of the games offered in the last 8 weeks increased significantly i guess they start trying to get a bit desperate :D

Epic doesn't actually seem to add any DRM of their own. I've got a dozen or so freebies and a few purchased games there like Control and none of them require the client to run.

I don't know if I completely agree with you. The first game Epic gave away for free was Subnautica and that game was the best game I played in 2018 and in my top 5 of all time. They certainly started off strong.
Hmm, whenever I launch any epic game store game from the desktop icon without the launcher running first, the launcher automatically starts with the game. Am I missing something? Do you have to run the .exe from the installation folder to run without the launcher?

That's what I do, yes. The one they put on the desktop is probably a client launcher command, same as Steam does. Note I can't guarantee they all work without the client, but all the ones I've tried have.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm still kind of newbish to the egs launcher. I'll give it a shot. The egs launcher isn't the worst out there anyways and their features roadmap looks promising. Bethesda's launcher, on the other hand, is a steaming pile of poo.

If you're like me and play singleplayer stuff with all the client features ignored I actually think the EGS is better than most.

So once you install the games, you can uninstall EGS and the games will still launch? That is actually nice.
