Lifthrasil: So, let me repeat that question to everybody in a clearer fashion: who, besides yourself, would you be OK with as chancellor? Brasas? I guess dedo would vote for that, if he were here. Or if you want to test someone else: whom?

Greek at least made an argument for selecting someone out of the second player block and not one of the un-aligned lurkers. That helps more than everyone else calling "Me! Me! Pick me!" Keep in mind, if everyone just shouts 'me' we will never get any majority or agreement. So if you think nominating Brasas is a bad idea, speak up and nominate someone else who isn't you.
Wait, were you just consulting our opinions or actually meant this to be a majority voting?

If you want an answer from me that's not "pick me!" then I support greek that it shouldn't be one of the kusu-blotunga lurkers, but can't honestly give a preference otherwise except that I'd rather not choose scene.

Also, if this is indeed a voting poll and not just a consultation, then you should at the very least step up and tell us your vote too. What do you think?
avatar
ashwald: Before I start reading any of the new posts:

I'd like to hear from the lurkers.

kusumahendra: *pokes kusu*

ashwald: What do you guys think? Any opinions? Preferences? Do any of you want to try being a chancellor this time? Anything at all? You too dedoporno, what do you think?

avatar
dedoporno: *pokes dedo*

ashwald:
Sorry about that. As I said before I was pretty busy.

If you're asking if I want to be a chancellor, my answer is "why not" simply because I know if I am given 1L card then I'll pass L policy. But trust don't come easy in this game

I would prefer to have lift and Brasas now, because I think the odds aren't getting much better anyway after shuffle. But that's me. I like to gamble in situations like this. But to some it would look like unwise / reckless move.

I don't know how much chance we got until one side wins, and after this turn I pretty much can't predict anything anymore as things become too muddy.

I'm also ok with randomize candidate

ZFR: Wait a minute. Look exactly at when that post was made. I had no bias then.
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/secret_hitler_1_legend_of_the_cows/post451
RW's first post "supporting" me came after it, adalia was "linked" with our "team" even later, and my bias against greek came only very recently (around the time of his second presidency).
You think I didn't?

avatar
RWarehall: I tend to trust ZFR, some others seemingly don't.
avatar
RWarehall: Let's be clear, I'm supportive because ZFR has said all the right things so far.
avatar
adaliabooks: I don't quite trust scene, his arguments against ZFR seem a bit contrived.
avatar
adaliabooks: And scenes pushing and twisting of ZFRs words remind me of my own early scum plays trying to incriminate a townie just a little too hard, so I am wary of him.
avatar
ZFR: Back then RW was being groomed as the most likely stepping stone to a quick cycle-back-to-greek, while adalia has just replaced cristi and barely made a post or two. How could I have any bias against either of them??? The only one I was biased against was Scene.

No, if anything your statement should be "It's very very unlikely that random.org would pick names that correspond to what later would become ZFR's biases so accurately." And Brasas pointed out that I have a bias for RW and adalia and against greek and a correlation is important whether for or against.
I didn't say you had a bias *against* them though. Biases can be either for or against, you know that already as demonstrated by the 2nd paragraph I just quoted. You picked and used the word "against" all by yourself. Curious.

avatar
ZFR: So let's look at (B). I didn't crack up, but this is a carefully crafted plan I made.
That's why I said I'm now against your nomination: the possibility that you gave up one or zero teammates in order to make liberal(s) that appeared sympathetic to you look bad. With this possibility in mind, your defence of adalia and RW makes me uneasy. If it turns out after the game is over that you were indeed a liberal then I'll owe you an apology. If you are fascist though then good job trying to bring us down with you. It could all just be apophenia as you say, but even so right now you look suspicious.

avatar
kusumahendra: Not at all, I poked y'all so you'd have a better chance of not getting ninja'd by lift officially nominating someone.
I'm caught up, but will reply / snipe later. I'm going "Now is when they buss ZFR?". Unexpected but welcome development.

More importantly

@Lift
I have not commented seriously on the random drawing for your chancellor. You will see my implied opinion of it reading between the lines.

As you state and the majority would IMO agree, I am the safe play on the short term.
What are the benefits of leaving me benched for the potential next government?

1 - that I will be not term locked and the safe play for not Hitler
2 - that you can stir the pot with the call for suggestions for your chancellor and see what happens
3 - that you get to test a player in your gov

You will achieve all of these objectives by doing an exclusionary vote. Force everyone else - by which I mean refuse to nominate until everyone does it - to vote for someone not themselves. Let's get cards on the table.

If not me, then I say Scene should be your chancellor.

You see where this goes hopefully. It will be much much better for the 2nd benefit. We can ask people why they chose who they did. Scum does not have scumchat so chances are you will have a Liberal option coalesce. IF there's some tie, you can tie-break.

IMO Scene has enough liberal cred to compensate his scuzzyness - test him and make sure one way or another. Certainly risking him is much less risky IMO than giving my current scum reads a clear shot at sabotage - even if I suspect they might pass the L just to get this over with. But there is a reason my scum reads have concerted the attack on Scene, Greek and myself in their second charm offensive. Don't fall for it.

I mean this whole long term play is predicated on getting unlucky draw, but you are risking that your chancellor buries an L. Let us not forget the opportunity cost of going for the long term play. But I'm digressing as usual.

If not Scene for the clarity. Then it's got to be dedo. The only reason you don't want dedo is because you say I'm better option. But you want to keep me benched for the next gov, so dedo is in play. No reason to exclude him.

Focus please.

If not me then I prefer Scene for your chancellor, and dedo as second preference.

Brasas: If not Scene for the clarity. Then it's got to be dedo. The only reason you don't want dedo is because you say I'm better option. But you want to keep me benched for the next gov, so dedo is in play. No reason to exclude him.
I had this exact thought about dedo, but if he's fascist, and he has a much higher chance than you to be fascist, won't everyone ask to remove you from future governments? This is why I don't want to risk shit happening with dedo.
Where stand on the votes please correct - this is not so easy to find.

Brasas vs someone else voting:

Brasas: Brasas (1239), Kusu (1280), Blotunga (1271)
Else: Adalia (1251), ZFR (1234)

Lift is holding, dedo is MIA, Scene also MIA - or I missed it

Ash has edged (1257 + 1274)
Greek has edged (1240 + 1259)

Not yourself voting:
Brasas (1282) - Scene, then Dedo
Ash (1274) - Brasas or Adalia
Kusu (1280) - Brasas < not sure this is fair assumption
Blotunga (1271) - Brasas < not sure this is fair assumption
Greek (1261) - Brasas then Scene < not sure this is fair assumption
avatar
Brasas: Greek (1261) - Brasas then Scene < not sure this is fair assumption
I haven't decided yet so better remove this to not confuse others.

I think it's safer if I vote second to last and Lift votes last ;)

I'm sorry. I don't understand this. Can you explain how to read what you write?

ashwald: I didn't say you had a bias *against* them though. Biases can be either for or against, you know that already as demonstrated by the 2nd paragraph I just quoted. You picked and used the word "against" all by yourself. Curious.
Sorry, that "against" was a mistake, meant to write "for". But my point still stands. You got 2 posts each from RW and adalia (nothing from greek?), but you could have found similar posts (for me or against me): kusu nominating me for chancellor; dedo agreeing with me and being attacked by scene (post 117), whomever random.org would have chose. There is really nothing special about the names random.org picked (and again, you're concentrating on 2 of them, forgetting greek).

It's like the fortune teller whose predictions are uncannily accurate after the fact. Your lucky colour is green and number 4, and only moments later you meet a friend a friend you haven't seen in 4 years outside a green Starbucks coffeeshop. But of course he could also be 32 yeras old, wearing a blue suit, with a red shirt, driving a white car with license plates beginning with 2 and ending with 7. Any number colour/combination would have worked.

Also, if you pick B (i.e. me carefully crafting that shitpost ),

ashwald: the possibility that you gave up one or zero teammates in order to make liberal(s) that appeared sympathetic to you look bad.
It just makes absolutely no sense. Why should I make those liberals sympathetic to me look bad? I'd be making myself look bad by association.

What I'm curious about is why your change of mind, now all of a sudden. You couldn't have missed my random.org reference when you went through the thread before (you couldn't have missed it because Brasas brought it up multiple times.) Why no mention of it before?
I'm wondering if you who is the number 1 scum suspect after RW's ragequit, is now trying to bring down 2 liberals with you.
Just to clarify things, I haven't mentioned myself as a candidate for chancellorship because not being in any government so far has probably made others think I was untrustworthy and there are indeed other people who already proved themselves. As for presidency, I'm too far at the end of the queue.
Except there am in post 1162 which by the way is the final part of my introductory analysis-mega-post wondering if ZFR is Hitler. Totally not suspecting at all at the time, sure.

avatar
Lifthrasil: ... and you really think that was a real admission and not just cynicism? Then what about Greeks admission of being Hitler? Did you take that to be literal too?
avatar
dedoporno: To be honest, I'd love to see that ending up being true. One more pro-Greek reason for me :D
Fascist much? ;)

avatar
ZFR: In post 1272 you did mention that what changed your mind was thinking it's "very very unlikely" random.org would have picked the names it and you find it suspicious.

So far, so good. The above is just a reminder of the background situation. But let's look at post 1272 more closely.

_ You quoted Brasas's post 1260, and said it's a very good point against me.
_ Later you said you didn't notice me mentioning I used random.org. That the ".org" slipped your mind. (I found it odd, but after all it was a lot of posts for you to read, maybe you did miss it...)

But Brasas's post 1260 doesn't mention ".org" either. It just says 'randomly'.
It doesn't mention ".org" but it mentions "digital dice":

avatar
Brasas: PS: In case anyone has forgotten I am referring to ZFR's explanation for the names in his shitpost. He said he drew them randomly... those digital dice were amazing seers.
Digital dice. What I had in my head up to then was repeated mentions of random, random. This made me go back in the thread to see wtf he was going on about and I reread post 479 where you tell Brasas you used random.org.

ashwald: Who would the second liberal be in this scenario?
Adalia (if he's liberal) by association. I know you didn't mention him directly, but he's linked to us by Brasas as a "team".

ashwald: I did notice it, but my mind originally latched on the "random" part, not the ".org" since the "Yeah, I'm totally HItler" post looks like honest exasperation. Don't forget, I had to go through 56 pages of text.
Maybe in my original post, but dedo called me out by saying I had to open a separate page, then Brasas repeatedly mentioned how my random number generator was prophetic. Multiple times.
You've showed you pay attention to much smaller details in your analysis. I can't believe you just missed that.
I actually just went back to check. dedo did comment on it (post 489) and I explained myself (mentioning random.org again twice) post 522. Plus Brasas mentioned the fact several times later.

So here is the question: what trigger brought about your 180 degree sudden change of mind? It couldn't have been you suddenly discovering I used random.org. So what was it? Was it seeing that there was now a real chance Lift choses someone other than Brasas (myself or adalia)?

Indeed, I didn't mention him, and I've nothing against his nomination, despite what "teams" Brasas has dreamed up.

Did you miss the part where I mentioned theories about you being HItler or a fascist getting bussed to divert attention from actual Hitler? It's far from sudden.

I'm hoping he'll choose someone other than Brasas actually. I'd prefer to see someone new & untested in government. The thing is I don't know who the fascists/HItler are.

What I do know is that 4 of the people who ended up as government members participated in passing fascist policy and that people who lie are most possibly not liberals. Meanwhile, the 2 that didn't pass fascist policy were me and Brasas. He got vouched for by dedo who passed fascist policy himself and insists on defending scene. I'm unconfirmed because RW was given 2L. We need more liberals. Scene lied. Greek lied and is termlocked. You seem to be lying.

Granted, if you were nominated and passed fascist policy you'd be termlocked and we could just blacklist you from government from then on, but for me, to not support your chancellorship now looks like it would lead to more chances of a liberal taking the position.
