Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.

March onto the real-time 3D battlefield in the strategic, tabletop-inspired title, <span class="bold">Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat, now available for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Jump into the fantasy tabletop world of Warhammer Fantasy from Games Workshop in Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat and take control of a small army. You will have to manage your forces and weigh your strengths and weaknesses wisely to extend your influence, expand your treasury, and enlist new recruits to see your army grow. Choose your battles carefully, as your moves will affect your in-game future. If you are up to the challenge of a highly difficult and tactically demanding strategy, Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat is for you, but be warned: your patience will be tested with the defeats you are due to face on your way to victory. The game’s combat system got many a word of praise, but do not be fooled - it does not come at the expense of character development, plot, or animation, and the music is astounding. All features of the title come together to truly bring the Warhammer Fantasy tabletop classic to life.

<span class="bold">Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat is DRM-free at GOG.com. If tactically challenging strategies are your thing, make sure to give this one a try.

In the press:

“Hopes gratified and expectations satisfied” -- Computer Gaming World

“Somewhere between an RPG and a wargame, Warhammer offers a refreshing change of pace for fans of either genre looking for a new play experience.” -- Gamespot
This is so awesome I can't believe it is true! I bought it as soon as I read it was available, holy shit I have been trying to play this game for many years, the pain I went through trying to fix this for my system was for nothing. And now you have given me this great gift. Thousand times thank you, really appreciate it!!!
This is a super exciting one. GOG does not disappoint. Now I'm holding out hope for Space Hulk!
Awesome releases, you're back on the "right" track, GOG!
And bought all three, a.k.a. two thumbs up! :)

Breja: Why so many old games on GOG! And no adventure games?! GOG is no good now!!1!1 Feminists ruined it!
I think you're home. Go drunk.
I bought all three Warhammer games straight away - loved them all. Now if we could get the Dark Omen the collection would be complete!!!
Thank you GOG, & congrats on the surpriiiiiise!

Beautiful, painterly old school flavour screens, and those maps are like nothing else I've seen.

My guess is that Dark Omen is more problematic than that. Unless I am mistaken all three Warhammer games on GOG (like Fantasy General and Pacific General) were originally published by Mindscape (or SSI which was a subsidiary of Mindscape at the time) while Dark Omen was published by Electronic Arts. Maybe they can work out a deal with EA to get Dark Omen re-released, though, now that Games Workshop does not seem to be a major obstacle anymore. Then again, EA might not be interested in signing a deal which involves more than one party.

And if they can work all that out then maybe we could get Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels too!

If we get that I'll be so happy!
I'll add my voice to the chorus, saying:

This is great!

Dark Omen, please!
So excited for this!

I've already purchased and installed, but unfortunately the colors for all the videos and screens are messed up making the game unplayable. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I'm rocking Windows 7 with an Intel Core i7 and a Radeon HD 6800.
Best news from gog since the Star Wars games were released here.

I've been having the exact same issue with two of the three Warhammer games that were released today. Chaos Gate and Shadow of the Horned Rat have wonky color palettes, but Final Liberation seems to work fine for me. I've Googled around for a fix, but none of them have been working so far. My PC is running a 64 bit Windows 7 OS with an Intel Core i5 and a Radeon HD 6850.
