Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.

March onto the real-time 3D battlefield in the strategic, tabletop-inspired title, <span class="bold">Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat, now available for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Jump into the fantasy tabletop world of Warhammer Fantasy from Games Workshop in Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat and take control of a small army. You will have to manage your forces and weigh your strengths and weaknesses wisely to extend your influence, expand your treasury, and enlist new recruits to see your army grow. Choose your battles carefully, as your moves will affect your in-game future. If you are up to the challenge of a highly difficult and tactically demanding strategy, Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat is for you, but be warned: your patience will be tested with the defeats you are due to face on your way to victory. The game’s combat system got many a word of praise, but do not be fooled - it does not come at the expense of character development, plot, or animation, and the music is astounding. All features of the title come together to truly bring the Warhammer Fantasy tabletop classic to life.

<span class="bold">Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat is DRM-free at GOG.com. If tactically challenging strategies are your thing, make sure to give this one a try.

JudasIscariot: Sorry but we couldn't get a hold of the person who made a really nice manual for the game.

Xuio: I can send You a pdf version of manual from "The Complete Warhammer Collection".
Thanks Xuio :) The manual is live :)
Awesome release. An absolute classic of a game.

I remember playing it with my brother as a kid and finding it so tough that we ended up cheating by modding our army to make everything invincible (and to give ourselves things like Wyverns..) and I think that may have been one of the things to get me interested in programming.

The game is brilliant, really managed to capture Warhammer battles. Can't wait to pick it up and try my hand at it now that I'm older and wiser.
I only know the more recent 40K games (the Relic ones). How's this one?
Great game, one of the first strategy games I played, just hope you get the rest of them.

Already bought it :P
Legendary releases! Finally! <3
Thanks for bringing Warhammer released to GOG.
Killkill yesyes. Buybuy.
Interesting Release but i'd prefer Dark Omen. Shadow of the Horned Rat is too frustrating for me.
Nice release.

Well, this is a tactical game. You can't build structures and recruit new units, you must manage with what you already have and what you will get as story progresses. However, if unit suffers some casualty you can spend money between battles to replace soldiers you lost.

Insta buy for me, now waiting for Dark Omen :)

mrkgnao: The game page has "turn-based" under genre. I am not sure this correct.

JudasIscariot: Fixed :) Thanks!
Are you sure?
Never played any of the warhammer games.
I have heard alot of great stuff about them and it even have a minature board game so it seams the series is/was somewhat popular.

But since im pretty green when it comes to warhammer stuff any veterans care to fill me in to what the games are about?
Does it matter what game i start with first for the best experience?.
