Thanks for showing publicly GOG is looking into this. One of the main issues that seems to come up when developers are asked about publishing on GOG on social media and other places is the extra hurdles or extra work needed in comparison to the return. Hope you find a way that works for both sides to streamline the issue of it is true.

Sinister Design:
Bought it and will be buying a few more copies to add to my giveaway. I want as many great games as possible released on GOG so hopefully the extra exposure will help a little.

Btw Clownski - in the recent past I heard several complaints from different indie devs about GOG not replying to their mails or letting them wait for weeks. We all know that GOG does not care if they lose customers over missing updates or DRM'd software, but it was news to me that you also don't care when potentially losing partners. Craig is not the only one who'd like GOG to be easier to work with ... maybe some higher ups at GOG should rethink some things.
Why does it say this on the game's GOG page?

"Access online multiplayer via Steam Remote Play Together!"

I don't normally play online multiplayer but if I'm not purchasing the game on Steam, why do I want to use Steam Remote Play Together as isn't that requiring Steam for online multiplayer?
I created a wishlist before seeing GOG reply, anyway kudos to them

Now that is something that I've heard of too from a few devs.

These game descriptions are almost always word for word Steam copypasta. Sometimes they forget to edit things like that out. Earlier today we even had a game with actual links to steampowered lol. It's been edited out now, thankfully.

Sinister Design: Hi all! I'm Craig, the dev. So, here's where I'm currently at with this. Getting this remake onto GOG was--to put it euphemistically--kind of a pain in the butt, one that sucked away time I could have really used for developing the follow-up title. What's more, GOG's manual invoicing procedures mean that selling it here is going to be an ongoing pain in the butt. (For reasons surpassing human understanding, devs who sell games here have to copy-paste GOG's own sales figures into spreadsheets and email those back to GOG as invoices at regular intervals in order to be paid. It's annoying and an extra time burden, which is especially impactful to me as a solo dev with a day job.)

Basically: I need the game to sell well enough here to justify its existence on GOG, which in turn means not giving it away for free here. I know this is probably disappointing to some of you, but that's where my thought process is right now. I am open to being persuaded, however. Feel free to share your thoughts with me!
I understand that GOG is a pain to work with for indies devs. Well, not just for the indies, but it is even worse for you guys since it is, as you said, wasting time and energy you can't afford to. You're not the first one to talk about it, and sadly not likely to be the last either. Many have said that it's hard to even get in touch with GOG to begin with. That invoicing mess is a first, though, and it got to be the most stupidest thing GOG is doing that I ever heard so far (no, GOG, don't you even dare to say "Hold my beer").

That being said, I don't agree with you about refusing to offer GOG's users the same deal that Steam had. It show that you are already favoring Steam over GOG (understandable, considering the far larger user base over there), and give the impression that you are likely going to end up not updating the game on GOG, as too many others devs are doing (again, understandable for the same reason, but very frustrating for us GOGers). It's certainly not encouraging people to buy your game on GOG.

We here at GOG love DRM-free gaming. GOG is pretty much the only significant store to support this, but GOG barely qualify as "significant". Yes, I know there are others, but they are even more obscure, or are DRM agnostic instead of DRM-free. However, it is very difficult for us to encourage people to buy games here, as GOG versions are too often inferior to Steam's (missing features, no online cross-play, no achievements, obsolete versions, etc.). Not to mention GOG being itself more difficult for the players themselves, with their limited catalogue of games, inscrutable curation, extremely late releases, and their preference of Galaxy over the offline installers, just to name a few things.

And now this. I fear this is only going to encourage people even more to continue buying their games on Steam. The sad truth is, most gamers don't care about DRM, they mostly care about price, and convenience. So, by getting a better deal on Steam than on GOG, not to mention better support, they will only decide to go to Steam instead.

Frankly, if you feel that GOG is such a pain to deal with (and I want to make it clear that I'm putting the blame on GOG here, not on you), you might as well not bother offering your games here to begin with. You would just be joining the ranks of others devs who decided to stop selling their new games on GOG as it's not worth the effort (like Darkest Dungeon 2 and Rogue Legacy 2, just to name a few).

Oh, and GOG, you must do better than this. Stop shooting yourself in the foot. Or, at least stop doing it with a machine gun. It's bad enough that publishers don't want to release AAA games DRM-free here, or when they do they often do it many, many years later when almost nobody care anymore. At the very least, make it easy for smaller devs, who usually don't care about DRM or even actually want to offer a DRM-free version, and often at day one, to sell and support their games here.

Dantre: That invoicing mess is a first
On the contrary:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/apparently_gog_is_driving_away_game_publishers/post50

Those of us who do contract work in other industries have been known to raise an eyebrow at the idea that submitting invoices is so egregious, but it certainly seems uncompetitive in this field. (Even the small copy-editing place I work for has a nice interface to track completed jobs and generate invoices.)
Not sure how I feel about this.
Thanks for the support, folks! It means a lot. :)

Martius, to answer your question: a basic version of skirmish mode exists as a custom campaign in TTL. If you own the Steam version of the game, you can grab it from Steam Workshop via the button on the New Game window.

(Note: I don't have a custom server of my own set up to host peoples' custom campaigns, as that would be difficult and potentially expensive to implement, but I positively encourage folks who own the Steam version to download campaigns from Steam Workshop and stick them on sites like NexusMods for other GOG users to enjoy!)

Hey Catventurer, this part of the description was erroneous (and I believe caused by GOG migrating the game description straight off of the Steam page). That should be fixed now.

I have small info for everyone who is interested in the content from Steam Workshop.

Thanks to great help provided by Nsyion, who downloaded all available content and provided it to me, I can share it with everyone interested. So you can play all that content on GOG version and lack of access to Steam Workshop won't be a problem!

here is the link to adequate topic on the sub-forum:
https://www.gog.com/forum/telepath_tactics/all_currently_available_mapscampaigns_from_steam_workshop

(there is no separate forum for TT: liberated, so I published it on Telepath Tactics subforum)

Disclaimer - I had problems with some mods (e.g. Multiplayer, when launched from new game, starts... normal campaign from the beginning; BUT it works absolutely fine from campaign editor/test option). I also can't make Bohman's Kite Trick to work properly, every time first turn of AI never finishes (and AI doesn't make any move).

Please feel free to share if you had similar problem or not.

Another small info... Or in fact a big one.

Couple of days ago there was released update for the game, having huge amount of fixes and improvements. And it was released on GOG as well without any delay comparing to Steam release. We have changelog on GOG as well, in download section... Too long list to quote it here ;)

Big cheers for Craig the developer for tremendous amount of work to provide fixes and to provide it here on time as well.

(Despite working actively on other title being currently in early access (Together in Battle))
