Technobabylon, the cyberpunk Wadjet Eye adventure, is available for now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Wadjet Eye, the prestigious paragons of pixelated-but-modern point-and-click adventure game hits, are back with yet another exciting creation. In Technobabylon, the adventure is set in a dystopian future where genetic engineering is basic surgery, and a good day is a day on Trance. In a city controlled by an all-knowing Artificial Intelligence and a terrifying police force, the three protagonists are: Charlie Regis, an agent of the secret police; Latha Sesame, a jobless Trance-addict; and Max Lao, a woman torn between her loyalties. Together they'll have to unravel the dangerous secrets of a high-tech society that can only be labeled dysfunctional.

If you're into lots of bonus content, you can pick up the Deluxe Edition (or just upgrade later) which includes:
-- Full soundtrack
-- Recording session video
-- Production art gallery (concepts, 3D models, full-size portraits, etc.),
-- Technobabylon Codex (PDF with backstory)
-- Poster art wallpaper

Topple a new world order in Technobabylon, the retro cyberpunk adventure, now on GOG.com!

Slartibartfas: Is there an option to play it in full screen?
Alternatively, you can also add "-fullscreen" to the executive path of the game (right click the game icon, then click properties), that works for other games as well.
weird....

opend the settings
set sprite cache to 50 mb
and kabang

Program Compatibility Asssistant show up its ugly face :D
very strange...

anyways... just clikekd that it installed properly...
message closes... game starts in a new window, with 50mb sprite cache so it works but not flawless.

funny thing is that the previous game is still open and active, the game started another game in a window, and shows the beginning again.

First impression: game looks good, nice story so far

only irri thing for me only is the strange alterated voices and bend sound waves these arent very pleasing for me.
and i skipped the intro with the weird effects, (vision/photosenistivy/motion)
Other then that it looks okay.

I hope there arent any more weird light and sound effects cause i like this kind of gamestories
its like indianajones and zack mckracken combined with beneath a steel sky (a very good game, escpecially the amiga version was great( better graphics, better visuals for the eyes).

The weird stuff reminds me of the weird movie Blade Runner, it looks like a combination of all the famous classic games and movies which is a very big plus.

So i am eager to find out what will happen next, i am not the person to dump/leave a game because its to difficult, has lousy graphics.
My main concern are to find out asap what to expect regarding visuals, sounds and motions... cause these affect me most.

So far i rate it a 9plus out 10 ....
And it's out! Going straight for the Deluxe edition is the better deal, if one wants the extras.

Anyone interested in trying it out before making a decision, a demo is available on the publisher's site.
Played 40 minutes now and I'am absolute into this game so far.

Love such dystopical sci-fi storys and this one is really good presented.

Graphics of course are not really great but everthing fits together.

For people who are really into adventures and like sci-fi á la blade runner, in my opinion this is a must buy. (Liked all wadjet eye adventure so far...)

Same here. Glad there is a workaround, but really annoying that we have to use it in the first place. I would have loved to be able to use Galaxy for everything from now on.

I hope they make it work in Galaxy soon. That they don't have it working for a new release is odd.

you could just have downloaded the installer via Galaxy instead of using the old downloader.. That's what I did as soon as the installer was done, Galaxy picked up the game. Didn't even have to have it scan my folders.
wishlisted for now, hoping a Linux version will be released soon.

It's going to take some time. David Gilbert's wife does the Mac and Linux ports of the games they make and publish and she had been quite sick.
Can a mod remove the trash reviews on games including this one? They serve no purpose other than spam and screw with the game's average user score.

Sigh, sometimes I think maybe the old timers are right. Maybe GOG should of just stuck with being a niche site as it seems we are now getting shitty Steam troll reviews that or it's two twits trying to post something to get their friends to add them on Galaxy.. Seriously GOG of all the things you should of ironed out before going into Beta adding friends via email or account name and not forums posts should of been among the top.

*groan*
I've bought a ton of games on sale that I'm pretty confident I'll never play, including some by this publisher, just because when they hit a certain price point it's worth it just for the soundtrack. I love how many soundtracks I've gotten from GoG.

So it's a little sad to me that so many games are now being offered with "deluxe" versions for the soundtrack instead of including it in the modestly priced base version that will ultimately be flash-saled at a worth-it-just-for-the-soundtrack price.

Weird, I know. But honestly so many included soundtracks in the base price was what initially drew me to GoG.
Really, really tired of the retro-pixelated style. I much prefer beautiful graphics like Chains of Satinav/Memoria or the cartoonish look of Deponia or proper modern 3D yet still cartoonish look of Book of Unwritten Tales. Damn, there are freeware titles that look so much better than this. Don't get me wrong, I know graphics are not everything, and there are great adventure games with somewhat terrible graphics like Ben There, Dan That, or my personal favorite Christopher Columbus is an Idiot but this cheap pixelated nostalgia gimmick has really worn thin. It has become an eternal excuse for indie developers to just not bother with something better looking.
