Ancient-Red-Dragon: Does this game have controller support ?
avatar
M3troid: yup
Thanks for the info. They should put that on the Store page. Otherwise, a lot of people will assume it doesn't have controller support and that perception will become a dealbreaker given the type of game it is.
"Easy to play, hard to master" - It sounds to me like a set phrase when trying to advertise a bad game... But I made some research about this game and it seems to be, on the contrary, a very good game. And made by a single developer!
Enough to make me buy this.

Fine, fine, fine... :/

Rugal Bernstein can kick with his legs closed, albeit mid-jump only.

The game does look interesting.

Fair point but he is not exactly human now is he? ;)

You are referring to that 2 hit kick he likes to spam as a boss in KoF 98 for example, yes?
the side scrolling beat em up is my second favorite genre of all time, so this is a nice treat.

ive not heard of this before but it looks fantastic. will buy shortly.

From very human to a bit less human. Not that it has any effect on the kick though.

Nah, the one where you jump and press HK, LP and LP. It's a one-hit kick.

Ah i think i know the one....not my main so please excuse me. I main Leona for the most part.
Lovely chat but let's get back on topic.
EDIT: That is called a dropkick yes so ofc the legs need to be closed :D

I love side scrolling beat em ups so i am seriously considering this one. Trailer points to numerous unlockables including new characters. Very refreshing in the season pass/DLC age.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: This game looks interesting although the length according to How Long to Beat website is quite short.
Most of the classic old school arcade games were very short but great nonetheless and certainly didn't rely on achievements to be replayable etc. From what i see in HLTB, Fight'N Rage is 3 hours long so it's definitely not short when compared to the standards of the genre. If you take into account the achievements that many folks go after religiously, i'm convinced that the overall duration will be quite long.
Looking on the screenshots, it reminds a bit Little Fighter 2 (very cool freeware game), so I admit, I'm a bit curious and tempted.

A bit worried though with this "neon-retro-flash&dark" graphic style, it can be quite tiresome for eyes. Have hope that it's only impression on screenshots and "on the move" it's not bothering for player.

Well, technically it's not a dropkick since he doesn't drop to the ground after the kick but lands on his feet instead :P

Same here, no bs, no "GOG is more expensive than Steam", small team. So it's definitely something worth supporting. That's why I just bought it (despite spending a looot of money on games during the weekend).

Good old Little Fighter 2. It's probably the only Beat 'em up game I've ever played.

i am sorry you feel that way but in the end this is just a game, not the porn industry.

What about all the games where you have muscled men with barely any clothing on the cover? Anyway, since you don't even know what "sexism" means, it's probably pointless asking anyway.

Played the game for a bit. Looks like you generally unlock stuff by playing the game and earning coins. With those coins you can buy characters (seems like there are 22 extra ones), extra modes, extra difficulties, probably extra costumes and who-knows-what-else. Gameplay is definitely fun. Can't jump vertically across the floor, just horizontally which I need to get used to.
This kind of games makes me wonder if I'm bi somehow.

This is one of the best modern beat 'em ups you can get right now. Very solid mechanics, controls, combos, movement, you name it. All 3 main characters are pretty distinct in their respective speed/power/combo ability.

I do have only 44hours in it over on shteam, but also only 50% of the achievements unlocked. I have failed to beat the hardest difficulty there is, maybe even the 2nd hardest one (well it's called Insane for a reason) and I moved on. The game offers various branching paths you can take and multitude of endings and minibosses to fight. You don't unlock moves, but you unlock extra characters (pretty much most of enemies are unlockable and you can play them in time score attack and survival submodes), costumes, game modes and some fancy gimmicks like 2 player mode where you control both characters with 1 controller (aka forever alone mode), turbo mode, etc.

Pretty much anything you can think of is there, except online multiplayer. The dev knows a thing or two about the genre, that much has to be clear to anyone even after watching the trailer, let alone playing the game.

P.S. Don't mind the "pantsu-shot", this is definitely not a case of bad game hiding behind boobs and ass here. Kinda bummer that not more people know about this game... 'Member when beat 'em ups were mainstream? Ooooh I 'member!
