What possible harm can one crazy, mutant tentacle do?



<span class="bold">Day of the Tentacle</span>, the grand return of the grandest adventure of all, is now available for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com.

A crazy mutant tentacle is on the loose, plotting to take over the world. How you ask? That's not important right now! We need to be thinking about how we are going to fix this. Super simply, by going back to yesterday!

decent computer ?

in the min req. it has this:

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260, ATI Radeon 4870 HD, Intel HD 3000, or equivalent card with at least 512 MB VRAM
DirectX Version: 9.0

-> i assume that 9.0 will be the dx for the GPU

in the rec. it says:
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460, AMD Radeon HD 6850
DirectX Version: 11

-> i assume that 11 will be the DX for the GPU

why recommend to have a gpu with DX?
cause you also need: Additional Notes: Must have OpenGL 3 with GLSL version 1.3

can someone confirm they do mean the DX for the GPU?

Cause, if DX 11 for the GPU will be the minimum for all new games and remakes of games , then i be saving tons of cash, cause my old GPU only supports up to DX 10.0, thats why i like the old games better cause i can run all of these that were released.

No, they shouldn't mark it as completed. Most of the wishlist entries were for the original game and not for the remastered version.

Day of the Tentacle's original version is available with a touch of a button!
You can switch between that version and the Remastered at any moment while playing the game.
I was not talking about MM. I was talking about the original game released in 1993. I know that classic graphics are available as part of the release. I don't even need it to be released, as I own the CD-ROM release.

What worries me is that we get remastered oldies without their original release, even unsupported. And we get no explanation, just blues trying post after post to make us think we don't need them. So much that I wonder if it isn't in the contract with WD.

And it has been a trend with too many LA releases. We had to be very vocal to get CD-ROM versions of X-Wing and Tie Fighter. MI 1&2 and GF have no classic release. Fate of Atlantis and S&M hit the road had (still have ?) compressed monster.sou, making them unusable without scummvm. And I might forget some.

I thought gog was more gamer friendly. Maybe I expect too much.

Having said all that, I will still take drm-free releases than no releases at all.

you are right in many ways... but never forget that developers love to 'show off' they like to show us, that they can remake the classic games we loved, and that these remakes will even make us forget about the old ones we played for many years.

Fact is that most if not all devs love the 'new' word, everything has to be new, and smooth, the sad thing is that new games can be aquired anywhere (okay most have DRM in it but they can be bought anywhere)

Most gamers however like the old good games, i have nothing againts new games, cause when these are good they will become the new Good old games, the old games were new once, so we give the new games a chance.
Unfortunately, most new games arent that good imho,and there are loads of old games still wandering around somewhere to be 'rescued', funny thing is that most publishers that have many new games on GoG and elsewhere also have lots of great classic games, which they dont seem to release, i wonder why?

Check some publishers that have a few old good games here, and mostly new games, you will notice that other sites (drm huggers) do have those marvellous old games and thats apity they dont want to share these DRM free with us. (secet files are one of these available loaded with drm but not drm free here while those publishers are on GOG with new games)
So please publishers , release all those old good games also DRM free , cause you do offer these with DRM to Steam , Gamersgate and all others that love DRM.

This is as close as we will ever come to the original game. The game is here, therefor the wishlist is fullfilled. At least they could then fullfill and [url=https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/maniac_mansion_day_of_the_tentacle_remake]this.

It's a bad day to be broke! DOTT was my second LucasArts game after Monkey Island 1, and among the first 10 PC games I ever played. I loved the humor and even now 20 years later, I don't know any more reent adventure that could compete with the humor and greatness of DOTT.

I'll hold off for a sale, I've pumped a fair bit of cash into double fine over the years and I've already bought 9 games today. They will just have to wait a little longer, plus I'll get to hear what other people say about it (debates about a separate original version excluded).

The original graphics actually look better to me, something about the ultra-smooth new graphics doesn't work for me.

Just put two hours into the game and man im impressed. Very very faithful to the original. The sound is great. The art looks sharp and spot on. Definitely have no need to ever return to the original.

I am a bit alarmed that I saw Jar Jar Binks in the game though. >_<

Dear GOG,

The download speeds over here in Malaysia for the Day of the Tentacle is horribly slow.

I am getting the download at 0.1 mb/s as indicated in GOG Galaxy.

I am on a 30 megabit line
