HypersomniacLive: And here's the clarification. Sounds like the exact same reason.

And this sounds like the Army Men games are no longer blocked in S. Africa.

EDIT: It was just a miscommunication, the games are still very much blocked awaiting that rating.
Alright. Thanks. I will add the same note to the H&D games on the GOGmix like I did for the Army Men games.....

Yes. Would've surprised me because other MaGog would've mentioned that....

Yeah, I realised that MaGog would have reported any change only afterwards.
THQNordic published a press release in which they announced that Red Faction II has been removed from the Index which means it should get unblocked here soon.
Good news. Why was Red Faction II in the index when Red Faction wasn't? If this has been discussed before, just point me to the relevant posts.

Red Faction was in the index, but was removed from it back in October.

Hopefully "Red Faction Guerilla" comes next, was the last one from the series to be indexed. Would buy it at once if there is a chance of it coming here...

Interestingly enough Red Faction Guerilla is not blocked on Steam and they only sell the uncut version....

And Red Faction II has been unblocked there as well....

I think the recent mass-blocks on Steam and GOG were caused by the same person/institution.

They received a list of games and blocked them as ordered.

Titles, that were indexed too, but NOT on that list were not delisted/blocked until now.

GOG still has indexed games free on it's page, they went unnoticed, too. Let's hope it stays this way.

@THC Nordic: after "Red Faction Guerilla" please try to unlist the "Painkiller"-series. :)

Thanks, I vaguely remember that it was. but missed the de-listing, Wonder why they de-list them one by one.

I believe that you need to file an application for every single medium you want delisted. And pay for each and every single one of these bureaucratic acts separately. They decide things like these on a case-by-case basis.

Even so, the four months apart de-listing of Red Faction and Red Faction II is quite noticeable - either THC Nordic filed for their de-listing at different times, which I find a bit hard to believe but could be wrong, of course, or that agency of yours takes its sweet time with their reviews and de-listings. Seeing that you used the "bureaucratic acts" term, I'm inclined to lean towards the latter.

Judging by the THQNordic press release it took them some effort:
Numerous discussions, tact and some skillful powers of persuasion were required to achieve this result. “At THQ Nordic we were aware of the implications of this momentous decision, and needed to adopt a bold approach.” says Jans Binsmaier, Publishing Director at THQ Nordic.
Obviously that's PR talk but I guess it was more difficult to get it off the index. Also I have no idea about how many people are involved in that process because after Red Faction was freed we had the removal of Shadow Warrior, Duke Nukem, Bulletstorm and Gears of War 1 and 2....

Could be. Afaik there were some changes on how digital media is handled on the index....

Interestingly enough FarCry 1 was never blocked on Steam but on GOG whereas the new Rise of the Trias was mistakenly block on both but unblocked on GOG after they realised their mistake.

Well I think they mentioned in their press release that they stay in talks with the BPjM but Painkiller might be a lot of work...

I don't know how the BPjM works, or how many people are involved, I just assume that when a publisher files for a batch of titles, they are all assigned to the same person/people, hence why I thought that it took a bit too long for Red Faction II to get de-listed. Since it took quite some back and forth, my assumption may still be correct

Anyway, what matters is for pubs to put in the required effort, and titles to come off the index.

Well honestly I've given up understanding German bureaucracy years ago - it seems weird that's true but afaik it takes more than person to decide. I think it's like a 12 people council that decides in the end....

Indeed and I'm quite happy to see some prominent title vanish from the index (not only games wise) over the last few years....
