8BitGinno: I want something quick to jump in to and play.
...
Nothing with a whole lot of lore and stuff, just simple fun.
Sounds to me like you're asking permission to play Crimsonland. And I give you permission.
Don't Starve - survive-in-the-wilderness roguelike. It's easy to get into, and you constantly learn more about how to survive a bit longer. It's a bit frustrating though, since you often starves and/or goes insane.

Treasure Adventure Game - Free platform adventure. Full blown nostalgia!

Rise of the Triad (2013) - remake of that old shooter. Simple and entertaining.

Race the Sun - Scifi racing. Steer with left and right. You die when you collide with stuff.

Hotline Miami - top down stealth fighting game. WASD + mouse aim. Super violent and you will die a whole lot.

I own Don't Starve and I like the "Tim Burton" visual style, and it is addicting once you get involved.

sreamer17ydr: Depending on the genre of games you like, I would recommend Pharaoh / Cleopatra game, Theme Hospital, Real Myst, Riven, Terraria.

tinyE: If you play all of those you are WAY too smart to be hanging out with us! :P

Well Terraria isn't too much of a brain drain. Obviously that's one I play a lot.
Well, I can say Riven is for sure, a brain drain, and Terraria, stumps me , lol its odd, I like it, but I can never do anything after a couple nights, for some reason Terraria is harder to me, than Real Myst lol.

lol play something out of your backlog and wait for sales and promos, dude :D
There are Lego games available now, never played one myself but they're said to be very straightforward. or [url=http://www.gog.com/game/duke_nukem_3d_atomic_edition]Duke Nukem 3D in case you'd prefer a quick FPS.
The Shovel Knight and Freedom Planet games are a lot of fun! Both are modeled after retro platformers!
Give Swat 3 a try if you like tactical fist person shooters. the game is pretty much your classic style tactical shooters that you hardly see around anymore. Really damn awesome and very hard but rewarding.

8BitGinno: Hey all. I start up my next semester tomorrow so to celebrate my last day of vacation I want something quick to jump in to and play.

Any recommendations on what GOG game to buy? Nothing with a whole lot of lore and stuff, just simple fun.
DEFENDER'S QUEST

Ey, I like your avatar, is from PSO, right? :)
Super Hexagon's pretty good.

It also probably has the least lore out of all the games on Gog.

Yep, one of my favorite series ever.
I also like PSO a lot, I played on the SEGA Dreamcast online :)
PixelJunk Shooter

It has fun levels you can complete in 5-10 minutes easily, not much lore, and it is quite relaxing. Basically this, Don't Starve, and Rayman 2: The Great Escape are my go to games when I don't feel like working on games from my backlog.

P.S. I would have definitely recommended Painkiller: Black Edition, but since it isn't sold here anymore, I can't.

I wanted to propose Painkiller myself before I found out it's gone when I tried to paste the URL.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky could be an option if you enjoy JRPGs, didn't got far into it, but it's very story rich and talkie so possibly not as quick to jump in, but the meat of the game is really in its extensive dialogues which you get right off the bat.
Super Hexagon. You can jump right in and it'll kick you right back out. ;)

Breja: Expeditions Conquistador and Battle World Kronos are very good turn based strategies. They are both light on story, especially the latter, but have great gameplay. Expeditions has a certain RPG-party managemen aspect to it, Kronos is a straight up strategy game, with easy, clear rules, but is quite deep and demanding.
I keep hoping for an Expeditions: Conquistador sequel, expansion, anything and Battle World Kronos ate my brain. It was the equivalent to a book you can't put down.
