Rage 1 has one of the most moving/touching intros imo.....also the video that plays after you start the game/awaken from sleep is good as well(And Tom Goodman plays a good part at the beginning).
This post got me thinking. In a big game company point of view, why da frak do they insert denuvo in a game.
* there´s nothing better on the market?
*since the "protection of day 1 sales" is nothing but a mith as we all know, maybe to protect the possibility to apear on downloading websites before the release date? Wich indeed may prevent some day1 sales.
*there is any long term deal with the denuvo maker´s company?
*does denuvo try to identify the "crackers" or has pretty much any form of tracking?
*they saw others do it, like the neighbur thing
*does denuvo pay in some way for the DRM to be implemented in software?

I can think of a few others but no rational reason I can think of at the moment, doesn´t include some shady stuff.
I know this is only speculation as we are never know the real reasons, just thinking out loud....

GameRager: As Nuffcatnip said: They only cracked it out because the pirate community did it so they decided it wasn't worth maintaining/they want to get those sweet sweet DRM-free gamer dollars.
Okay. Well if they want those DRM-free gamer dollars they'll surely be releasing it here very soon, right?! :8D Even before Skyrim and Rage 1?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pheace: The pirate community didn't 'crack' anything here. The latest version of Denuvo on several games is actually uncracked for the moment.

The only reason this game was pirated day 1 is because they forgot or mistakenly put up a version of the game *without* Denuvo on Bethesda.net. End of story. At that point there was no reason to have Denuvo anymore since it was already too late with the un-DRM'ed version out there.
Source?
great job, software pirates!

No, not at the moment, unless you go client-service architecture (always online, assets held by a server not in your computer) . Keep in mind that Rage 2 was not cracked, the latest version of Denovu is not cracked thus far, what we have here is a leaked version without DRM released by mistake.

Dark_art_: *since the "protection of day 1 sales" is nothing but a mith as we all know, maybe to protect the possibility to apear on downloading websites before the release date? Wich indeed may prevent some day1 sales.
No, it is not a myth. day one sales are very important still, which is why they still try to do DRM. Denuvo when implemented correctly, do have day 1 protection. As said abode, the latest version is still not cracked.

avatar
Dark_art_: *there is any long term deal with the denuvo maker´s company?
all contracts with Denuvo is, AFAIK, under no-discourage agreements .

avatar
Dark_art_: *does denuvo try to identify the "crackers" or has pretty much any form of tracking?
no, and not sure if it is possible. many cracker groups do identify themselves, though - there is cudos in being the first and best

avatar
Dark_art_: *they saw others do it, like the neighbur thing
No idea what you mean here

avatar
Dark_art_: *does denuvo pay in some way for the DRM to be implemented in software?
No, it is the other way around. Game makers pay to have Denuvo - it is how they make profit.

Feel free, any time. Do include the shady stuff as well.

Hmmn. Not convinced.

Saying Denuvo is not effective because it was not implemented is stretching things too far imo and I will not believe it without direct proof.

An unsubstantiated assertion doesn't equate to "end of story". But nice try. ;p

just look at the other new games using latest version of Denuvo, such as Anno 1800 and Mortal Kombat 11 - still not cracked.

Are we discussing other new games?

Proof on your original assertion please.

well.. proof that they did?

Those games use same version of denovu.... why it this released yesterday "cracked", but not one released over 30 days ago?

edit: anyway, a quick google - https://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/bethesda-managed-to-make-rage-2s-denuvo-drm-pointless/

I'd recommend waiting on RAGE 2 until it gets a discount. I love id Software and I love RAGE 1. This game is massively disappointing. It's got good combat but it's clear the bulk of development was handled by Avalanche Studios. It bears more in common with the copy paste design of a Just Cause game than anything else.

Thanks for the proof, a quick google is surely absolute judgement.

FYI, your link doesn't provide confirmation from Bethesda.

Real story here may be, another opportunity to see the performance differential between cracked vs uncracked. If it's significant, which I think has already been confirmed, then Denuvo incentivizes piracy, which is pretty effing ironic.
