SirHandsome: I think the point is that someone would buy the game that is on sale if they wanted it. They made out like the games being offered were not the cheap ones on sale, which GOG must know if someone wanted that specific crap game for 3 dollars they would have bought it instead of a pinata. It just doesnt make logical sense nor does it specifically state anywhere in the FAQ that any of the games in the pinata are games that are on currently on sale for 2.99.

I would like my 3 dollars back, and I think this was whole thing was bit underhanded.
I agree that a person may overlook the FAQ ( which I had to read 3 times to actually really aknowledge that they are mentioning base price ) and see that its possible to get games, that may actually have a bigger discount price than their Pinata price. They may underline ''base price'' to make it more noticeable for others.

Now I am not sure what might be the price difference between Pinata games and games currently on discount (and probably none here can say for sure, and I don't mean 1-2 cent difference etc ). So unless someone bought a Pinata ( and posted here what game they got ) we can't really say if those Pinatas are really worth buying.

In any ways mistery games might be fun. I personally don't have good experience with buying mistery games or bundles ( not talking about GoG ), so I decided to restrain myself from doing so but see what will others get.

I personally like when we get free game on sale ( or being able to pick from a pool of games ) after we achieve certain points from buying games.

I also like to buy really cheap games ( I guess there isn't anyone that doesn't ). And some times when there are bunch of old copies from a game, that is not as popular among players/buyers - it is good to see a mass sell out, just to get rid of those copies ( that might not sell even for a regular discount prices, but will provide some money to the developer, rather than keeping copies, that may never completely sell).

0.01$ = price of the piñata shell you smashed open
2.99$ = price of the game within
--------------------------------------------------------------------
3.00$ = price of the intact piñata

Blue22111: I would try contacting support, they offered me a refund. I did read the FAQ, nowhere did it say that the game could cost less than I paid for the pinata.
avatar
paladin181: No where did they state it couldn't. That works both ways.
True, but they should state that, it's a simple matter of honesty.

OneFiercePuppy: ...No sympathy for you. I hope you don't get a refund...
One way or another, this could have been worded so much better. You have such a good point, but that makes you sound so bitter.
I bought 1 Pinata to try it out.

Got a game called "The Guild 2".

It cost the exact same price as the Pinata itself, so I didn't lose anything really.

If you get a game thats worth less than the Pinata, then yeah thats kinda shitty tbh :/

I love GOG...but this Pinata system (RNG system) needs tweaking.
The only way to win is not to play, so I'm not. These kind of sales are designed for people with poor impulse control.
GOG is offering refund if you ask them!

True.
Just check the sale and buy the games you really want to buy.

Hey all, I'm popping in with an explanation and a solution for all who received a game in a Piñata, that was cheaper than a Piñata itself in certain regions due to local pricing.

First things first, to fix the situation for all future purchases, we’re removing from Piñatas the games that in some regions are available cheaper in the sale. This means you won’t be getting those games popping out from Piñatas any more - feel free to buy them in the sale that is running alongside Piñata Madness. Since not everything can be fixed that way, we’re removing a few games from the sale.

Because the removal of games from Piñatas will decrease the overall pool of titles available to get from Piñata, we’re right now (TBC if we’ll have games from BizDev to be added) adding new games to the selection, and we’ll be adding more in the coming days, to cover the excluded ones. Those new additions are not available on sale, and their base price is at least $5.99 USD.

Last but not least, if you were affected by this issue, we have a solution for you. First, you are eligible to get a refund for such purchase (or refunds if you received multiple games that were more expensive than Piñata) - just reach out to our support and ask for a refund which will be done as GOG Wallet funds. To make up for the trouble, we’re also going to give you a code for one free Piñata. The code will be provided to you by our support, and will need to be redeemed till the end of the Piñata Madness sale.

Once again, sorry for all the trouble and we hope this will address most, if not all of your concerns regarding this situation.

Well, thank you, Blue22111 from all who was not interested in piñatas, but wanted to make some shopping during this sale. I hope your $0.01 was worth it :|
A whole string of messages over a penny? I'll laugh if your free piñata turns out to be for Jack Keane. Don't gamble if you can't handle a loss.

^This. I've bought exactly one pinata, because you can't win if you don't buy a ticket. I drew Full Throttle Remastered, so I'm happy with it, but I wouldn't want to push my luck further.

I have contact GOG Support (Ticket #116813) 9 hours ago, but no response yet.

UPDATE:
GOG refunded 3 Piñata ($9.00) within 24 hours, and gave me one Piñata for free.

Nine hours ago was probably after office hours for them. You know what time it is in Poland, right?

It can take some time - especially now when they're probably getting quite a few support requests for various reasons due to the sale - but from my own experience, they will always get back to you, sometimes even at ungodly hours like 3am.

To be fair, not everyone keeps tabs on time zones.
