[Wall of Text]
First, reactions to posting. After the wall, I’ll outline who I’ll consider voting for, with reasons even!
Krypsyn: In other words, I think [Trent's] actions, or lack thereof, have at least as much to do with his personality as with anything directly game related.
I tend to agree. Doesn't mean it is necessarily helpful, but it is consistent.
-I’m fine with this sort of block post. I just want to see posts from you more frequently.
-I’m currently of the opinion that lynching a lurker when one doesn’t have any other decent candidates is a viable strategy. When play becomes “talk or die”, people might start being more active. When a lurker actually gets lynched, it is an indicator that people are serious about "talk or die".
-“No, by the way, I'm not saying that anyone that claims town automatically is town, only that suspecting someone for this claim alone is perhaps a little harsh.” -> I agree with this. Surprise!
dedoporno: You win when your team overpower other factions in numbers or votes. The overpowering in term of numbers is pretty clear but the votes alternative is something else. It implies that the mafia may be able to out-vote the town and potentially other enemies even when they are outnumbered.
Good catch there, though it might mean a townie can't vote, or can't vote in certain situations. So scum might not have a double vote, but may instead having something that blocks someone from voting.
bler144: Though we'll probably remember whoever was the most audacious in victory - whether it's Wyrm's combativeness or...
If I win, it will be audacious and cunning. If I lose, then I just look like an idiot.
agentcarr16: I TOTALLY agree with you here. WIFOM is a naturally occurring part of Mafia. I still don't much like your deliberate creation of WIFOM, though.
I have good news and bad news. Good news: I’m about done with the deliberate WIFOM, for now at least. Bad news: I seem to have a tendency to make statements that look really bad, without my realizing that they will look really bad.
yogsloth: Your current vote… is a Random Voting Stage vote… random vote… but it has a purpose and a method? I wait with baited breath.
agentcarr16: Sorry Bookwyrm, but... exactly.
My vote seems a bit more random (to me) than voting for someone because they were on your case all last game, or voting someone that self-voted, or voting someone because this is their first game. But yes, I did come up with a method to determine who to vote for, and a reason.
agentcarr16: I admit that it's a potentially good idea when you need a lynch, but I don't think lurkers should be voted for simply because they're lurkers. IMHO.
I guess this statement is true, as far as it goes. One reason to vote for lurkers: when votes start stacking up, they are more likely to start participating. See above about “talk or die”.
trentonlf: Although I will say that it seems we will be put under a deadline before any consensus is reached for lynch or not. I can see why Krypsyn is having fun with the RVS time, there's not much info to go on or speculate on so might as well have a good time until there is some actual information to use.
Now my feelings might be hurt. Krypsyn gets to have fun and looks okay while doing it, but I get to look scummy for having fun? :(
(I'm kidding. I know the difference between how we're having fun.)
bler144: I'll try and make time to re-read their posts tonight. Do we have a sense of what sort of deadline window we're likely to get - 24 hours / 36 hours?
I'd guess more than 24 hours, with 48 hours being a rough upper cap. He might also do something that Liftrasil did in the STALKER game: give a minimum deadline with an unknown extra amount of time added on. For example, Lift would declare that an emission (night) is coming in X + Y hours, where X is a defined number (ex. 24) while Y is some unknown value. One time we got ~6 hours out of Y, another time we got ~1 hour over the minimum deadline.
This is all speculation on my part, since I'm definitely NOT in cahoots with the mod to stir things up for his enjoyment.
Krypsyn: That is essentially what CSPVG's game was. All possible roles were known, and Mafia didn't have to make up roles at all. Scum did lose in the end, but it was a close thing.
I think RWarehall is suggesting something a little further than CSPVG's game. All
possible roles were known before the game started, but the mass claiming didn't happen until Day 4 or 5.
I think RWarehall's suggestion is to have everyone assigned their role, then everyone makes a claim Day 0 (or possibly the mod states who has what role), and game starts on Day 1. While this would heavily influence the game, I have no idea whether it would end up favoring town or scum; that might depend on the particular implementation.
Krypsyn: I have no intention of voting for him this Day.
Woo! One less person that might kill me before N1.
Flub’s post 384 brings me back to an older post by RWarehall:
RWarehall: Nope. The more we discuss, the more people are put on record, the better it is for town. The people saying very little and especially the people trying to distract the conversation from being anything useful are most likely doing so for a reason. And that reason is more than likely not to our benefit...
I wonder which one you consider me as: Getting people on record, or distracting from anything useful?
flubbucket: agentcarr16 - Post #268 - I guessing the part of the OP about no-lynch cristigale quoted has been edited out??
Yes. Now it deems those that vote No Lynch to be idiots.
JMich: It's no different than a townie playing scummy to "Draw out the scum". Townies would also vote for them, because they played scummy. What analysis could one gain from that?
Sometimes the desired data isn't in the lynch wagon, but in the discussion around it.
Krypsyn, did you just imply that Flub gets more ladies than you do?
flubbucket: trentonlf - #338 - What if a player requires fewer or greater number of votes in order to get lynched??
Ooo, good call. I hadn't thought of that one either.
flubbucket: I want a clear list for posterity. Have a Grain of Salt----------> .
Salt is NaCl. Na = Sodium, large amounts of which will kill you. Cl = Chlorine, large amounts of which will kill you. NaCl will kill you. Flub is trying to kill everyone. Clear scum tell.
trentonlf: And here is Bookwyrm's Orange Juice
AHHHH! GLITCHED ORANGE JUICE!
trentonlf: EBWOP
guess the orange juice link didn't work,
here is the juice Ooo, much better. Thanks!
