I think you and I have different definitions for "friendly".
Also, in response to the main complaint of your OP: They have never, to the best of my knowledge (though I freely admit I've not been following all the account-system-related topics -- all the butthurt rage dumped in those threads starts to piss me off after a while), given a particular date when the improved library sort-order would be introduced. If they'd said, "We'll have it rolled out within the week!", and then a month went by with no more news, then I could see raising the issue with them. But (again, as far as I know) they only ever said something like, "We will improve this during the Galaxy beta," or, more probably, just a simple "This feature is coming soon." But "soon" can mean any number of time frames, and GOG's uses of it have almost always tended to run toward the longer ones. (Crawl was announced to be coming "soon" to GOG last fall, for example.)
In other words, this was 1.) not a promise, but an announcement of a functionality they are working on, and 2.) certainly not a broken promise, as that would imply that they had missed a self-imposed deadline, or announced that they have stopped working on this feature; as far as I know, they have done neither.
Out of curiosity, what specifically about the site layout/interface (or whatever) do you dislike? It'd be interesting to get a newcomer's take on this.

Primo_Victoria: Did the site have colours too? This feels like a blackout in opposition to SOPA or something.
A little more color than it has now, yes. (The front page still gets gussied up nice during most of their bigger sales, though.) There was a bit of a shitstorm here when they went to the "Fresher, Better" gray theme late last summer. Some of us were holding out hope that they'd at least bring out some new colored version of the GOG.com logo once Galaxy arrived, but so far, nada. Maybe when Galaxy's well and truly released (that is, once it's out of beta). Not that this really matters all that much to me. Out of curiosity, what specifically about the site layout/interface (or whatever) do you dislike? It'd be interesting to get a newcomer's take on this.

You have not seen me unfriendly ;) Hey, I've said "please" in my OP :)
1) With removing manual sort the FIRST thing they should have added instead of friendlist and such should be a FUNCTIONING alternative.
2) I would not have felt the need to open this thread at all if they would say something about that matter but they have not for a long time now. So it's hard for me to see if they still are working on it or if they simply decided to let it the way it is. A bit more communication would clear misunderstandings pretty fast.

Looking at Community, there are forums for a bunch of languages, is it because English users don't like to see other languages? Feels like dumb segregation to me. Do the users enjoy it at least?
As for the main forum, you get all these topics about "Friend me", or "Witcher 3", "Help", "Stuck" and a bunch of nondescript nonsense that clutters everything up and makes it hard to find an actual conversation. Is there a moderator to clean this up a bit?
I added a free comic to my cart and "purchased" it. It was in my library but still stayed in my cart for hours and I couldn't delete it. If I buy something, am I at risk at buying it again if I buy another title?
I'm being asked to try Galaxy everywhere, "download now", and when I click it then sees I'm on Linux so I can't do anything. But then "download now" again?
Why are there multiple pages and multiple entries for the same game? Deluxe, Collector's, etc? Just make one page with options. One game looks like it's more expensive here than anywhere else, but it's just that you're seeing the most expensive version by default.
It's too grey and depressing.
Most other sites are bad too, but that's not an excuse. It looks like they're just piling up stuff as they're going along, and I don't like that.
And why am I writing this in a pop-up? And why can't you filter search results?

Primo_Victoria: It seems to take several clicks to do anything, especially clicking on the Search bar that takes you to another page where you can click the Search bar again. That's annoying.
If you click "Search from any store page, you can search right there in that bar, with clickable dropdown results and everything; it only acts as a link to the main Games catalog search page when you click it from a forum page. I agree it's very annoying, but it'll probably take a complete overhaul of the forums to make it behave as it does on the rest of the site, and GOG staff have stated that that's a long way down the priorities list right now. Primo_Victoria: Looking at Community, there are forums for a bunch of languages, is it because English users don't like to see other languages? Feels like dumb segregation to me. Only last fall did they begin to offer support for languages besides English, and every time they've added a new one, they've added a language-specific forum to go with it. Some like to have a forum where everything's in their own language, but the majority stick mainly (or entirely) to the English General Discussion forum. I would assume that those who use them rather like having the option to, but it is just that -- an option. Primo_Victoria: As for the main forum, you get all these topics about "Friend me", or "Witcher 3", "Help", "Stuck" and a bunch of nondescript nonsense that clutters everything up and makes it hard to find an actual conversation. No mods, as such. That is actually one thing that a lot of forum members here will agree on: the lack of moderation or censorship is generally seen as a good thing. We tend to kind of police ourselves, and, for the most part, it works remarkably well. Unfortunately, the one-two punch of the GOG Galaxy public beta and the release of The Witcher 3 means that the General forum's been getting spammed by those who don't know how to find the game-specific forums (or even think to look), and the fact that GOG left out any reasonable way to add friends mean that we've also been getting spammed with "add me, John!" posts and "Looking for a friend" topics at the moment. The community -- not the newly-registered, nor the people posting once or twice, but the people who actually visit and participate in the forums often -- are generally pretty cool. Up till this point, anyway -- we'll see how things shake out from here on out. Primo_Victoria: I added a free comic to my cart and "purchased" it. It was in my library but still stayed in my cart for hours and I couldn't delete it. If I buy something, am I at risk at buying it again if I buy another title?
That's a known bug. I can't personally help you there, but know that if you try to buy something (whether accidentally or intentionally) that's already in your library, the gifting option is auto-enabled and can't be disabled, and there will be some text displayed mentioning that you already own one or more items in the order. Also, you can always remove anything from the cart when on the checkout page, before actually going through with your purchase. Primo_Victoria: I'm being asked to try Galaxy everywhere, "download now", and when I click it then sees I'm on Linux so I can't do anything. But then "download now" again?
Yeah, the purple Galaxy banners come back. The one on the front page is just part of the site design for now, but the one in my library only reappears when I log in...which, since I rarely log out, is a non-issue for me. There are some user scripts that have been passed around to eliminate them via your browser itself, and an AdBlock custom filter that Accomplished the same thing. Someone else can probably link you to them. Primo_Victoria: Why are there multiple pages and multiple entries for the same game? Deluxe, Collector's, etc? Just make one page with options. One game looks like it's more expensive here than anywhere else, but it's just that you're seeing the most expensive version by default.
What's worse is that, if you own the basic version of a game and later purchase the upgrade DLC that gives you the equivalent of the super-deluxe edition, it won't count you as owning that edition, just the base game and the upgrade DLC. Frankly, that pisses more people off than having a separate page for each. Agreed.
I wouldn't go that far, but other people would certainly agree with you there, too.
Primo_Victoria: Most other sites are bad too, but that's not an excuse. It looks like they're just piling up stuff as they're going along, and I don't like that.
I have literally never bought a game from another online digital game store, so I don't have much frame of reference. Not entirely sure what you mean by "piling stuff up as they go along", though. I couldn't say, but it's kind of a long-running bad joke how amateurish and glitchy their (homemade) forum software is. And the search -- both store and (especially) forum -- is legitimately horrible.
Basically, if you most value convenience, or a massive, all-encompassing catalog of games, there are better places to shop. But glitches and interface issues on the website aside, GOG treats their customers quite well, including after the point of sale; that + DRM-free is why I haven't bothered to shop anywhere else for games so far.

Oh, and mrkgnao's reply to me reminded my to link you to his MaGog search engine for GOG games, which allows you -- among many other things -- to filter and sort games from GOG's catalog by any number of obscure criteria. It's arguably even less user-friendly than the GOG search page (no offense to mrkgnao), but it's leagues better if you want to find, say, a tactical turn-based RPG from 1996 that was discounted to below $7.50 in the last six months (or whatever other specifications you might have...as long as your criteria are either kept track of by GOG, or added by mrkgnao).
Also, the links in his post above should help with a couple of your gripes (at least until GOG's devs can make some time to fix these issues).

Sarisio: It is easy to criticize someone else work but usually it is much harder to do that same work better.
MarkoH01: Absolutely true and I would not say that they are incompetent. They have some bad planning and especially bad prioritizing. When you introduce something new you should make sure that AT LEAST the things that were working before will still work. The NEW things are bonus the OLD things are things the customer was used to have so it would not be so bad if some of the new things don't work correct but some of the old things not working would be - especially if they are that essential like a sort order (which never worked but we had the manual option). I know exactly what I demand here having programmed database programs about 4,5 yrs. myself so I know that it should not be THAT hard to implement an additional database field into the existing database and then in first instance simply copy the "title" data to the new "sort_title" data. After this process you would only need to change the "order by title" to "order by sort title" wherever it is applied. It's nothing big I am demanding here. I am sure that the things they already did (order history, friend list, changelogs) were harder too implement.
