Some requests, while you're doing your site overhaul, please don't make this place childish- no forum achievements, no user profiles, no banners or signatures allowance, no visible remarks of "thanking" (if you want to make +/- non-anon, make it so people reading the forum don't have to look at that shit). Keep this place clean and minimalistic, if possible. Thanks for reading!

SpellSword: All joking aside: I believe there are dangers associated with displaying the IP, I'd rather it not become a feature.
(Or give users the ability to turn the display off as an option... however I think that would remove its intended use.)
I, for one, am very much against displaying the IP address of a poster. That just sounds like a major privacy violation. Yes, I know grimwerk is being facetious with his post :)

What is your opinion on having those features BUT only if they are opt-in, that is, if you don't actively turn any of them on, things stay the same for you as before? Just asking in general, not promising anything here :)

1) Better search system
2) Ignore user threads and/or posts
3) Checking own post history
4) Separate forum for gifting and giveaways
5) Ability to change thread titles without asking a mod
6) Remove rep system (or change it to how others want it, either way I don't care)

Are they doing a site overhaul here? I made comment yesterday about it, but then was questioned about it, so thought my memory was playing tricks on me again.

So they ARE doing an overhaul here at gog?

ADDED: By the way gog, despite the fact that I voiced my opinion here, I think that the only ones going to the trouble of voicing things here are the ones who are unhappy with something. The silent majority in this case is important, as it does indicate they're happy. Changes to placate some of us vociferous ones here might make them happy at the expense of making even more of that silent majority unhappy. I would love for rep to disappear completely, but every site, or nearly every site, must have it for a reason. Please don't make me happy at the expense of making a thousand others unhappy.

There is going to be one, yes, but I can't say when exactly it will happen and what will get overhauled/improved as the technical website stuff is way out of my league :)

I agree with this. ^_^

Sleek and uncluttered please. -_^

Yes, you were right all along OFG so never ever doubt yourself again. ;)

JudasIscariot: Just for the record, I don't mind PMs, I just rather not have people getting hurt or feeling harassed while not knowing why and for what. The whole rep thing and the resultant PMs I've gotten about it is one of the things that spurred me on to create this topic.

So for the record, PMing me is perfectly fine :) Just laying out this disclaimer so people don't think I don't want to talk to them or something :)
I know that you don't mind PMs, I only mentioned it as part of the chain.

I also asked you a question here and I'd appreciate a reply - pretty please ;-)

3. Ability for the OP to close/delete a thread s/he has created
I don't agree with the delete option - one should think before starting a thread or even making a post.

Regarding the rep system and talking about changing it, a compromise could be:

# Retain the +1 rep for the first post of the day instead of post count - it'd shield from the post count being abused, not to mention that high activity (i.e. high post count) doesn't necessarily mean actual contribution, and that goes for new and existing members alike.
# Rating posts either way could stay, anonymous or not, but without impact on user rep, just the specific post being highlighted/ buried.
# Answering Question threads could maybe contribute to user rep, but only that if at all.

That feature could be useful. ^_^

Unless you are a certain someone who is fond of putting "fuck" in his thread titles. Don't get me wrong I love the guy but he seems to do that a lot.

If it's this one

"What's the current system of preventing spam report abuse?"

Then my reply is: You can only downrep someone once and the same goes for the spam report function AFAIK :)
As said elsewhere, please add:

- more forum subsections (user giveaways, gog announcements, generic help questions, game support, etc..)

- advanced search options (ex: find posts by user X, keyword A and B, only in this month, etc)

- useful\funny features like advanced polls and spoiler tags (also fix some broken formatting)

- improve somehow the rep system. Maybe by making -rep only possible by those within your same star tier? (unavailable for newbies and negatives) Or perhaps adding a total -rep cap per post? Or make -rep possible only with a post in the thread?

I'm just preemptively bringing this up. I don't think there needs to be a censor filtering / blanking out / removing / preventing / etc objectionable language from forum threads or posts titles.

If one is added please make it optional and leave it off by default.

I personally don't care if it's a close thread or delete thread option. I would just like to see some kind of feature that provides the OP with the possibility to end his/her own thread.
