Being heard and being listened to are entirely different things. :P

triock: uprep/downrep should be a privilege - only accounts with certain rep (similar to posting links) should be allowed to do this (can be also combined with at least 1 purchase)
Not bad - presume you mean in the sense of a minimal rep (rather than otherwise O_O).

I'm listening... but speak up a little please! ;)

But people can uprep with alternative accounts.

I understand what you mean and I created this topic for being both heard and listened to :) I am not sure when the forums might get improved but I am hoping to get some input from the community so that when the time comes we have a single thread with all of the issues in one place instead of a whole bunch of issues, concerns etc. spread out all over the forum :)

This is an interesting idea. (imo) I still think -Rep is a problem and should most likely go though.

Making it so that a minimal purchase is required to be logged to the account would prevent any bots/scripts/etc.

Is there a risk of alienating users that have been drawn to GOG for the free games in the catalog or would this be seen as an incentive to purchase a game?

Also do we want to see more connectivity between our GOG accounts and the forum or would this be unwelcome?

Perhaps this thread could be granted the Sticky/Pinned state so that it doesn't migrate to the depths of the forum?

I think if they cannot issue nor recieve issued rep during that time, it would not be a problem - if they know about the system of course.

Another idea that came up was that you should "spend" accrued rep (from daily posting for instance) to be able to issue it

I am worried that no one will read the sticky, but OK :)
I'm sorry, and know this may cause a heated response, but I just do NOT, and never will, understand why almost every forum has some form of REP. IMO it's just..... wrong.

Do we walk around in life wearing a number on our back??? If we did (and some would argue we do by the clothes we wear and/or cars we drive etc. but those are just economic indicators) would you judge someone you just met by that number? How is that any different than judging them by the color of their skin or the length of their hair or the particular God they pray to?

I've never in my life gotten one OUNCE of anything useful out of any rep system on any forum anywhere anytime. Whatever judgment I make on a poster or commenter is based 100% on the content of that post or that comment, and I just don't understand why any kind of rep is something that is valuable. It's been my experience at nearly every site that the only results I ever see from rep are NEGATIVE, as in the type of crap that's occurring around here right now.

There are some folks that are smarter than others regarding helping with tech issues, game issues, or just overall help of any kind. I'd bet most veteran users here know who they are yet couldn't tell you within a hundred what their rep is. Noobies would learn to tell too.

If anyone can point to me any sort of positive discussion in a forum regarding REP, # OF POSTS, or whatever other artificial number that forum uses, please link it to me. I could link to you a hundred such negative discussions.

I know a woman who claims to be able to "read" the "sticky"...

*grabs coat and FLEES before destruction!

You assumed correctly, for a while there I was looking all over the first page except at the very top while looking for this thread. I almost thought it was a dream that I had that such a thread ever existed in the first place. :P

God NOOooo!!! XD

(If you're being serious then I apologies, not meaning to mock.)

All joking aside: I believe there are dangers associated with displaying the IP, I'd rather it not become a feature.
(Or give users the ability to turn the display off as an option... however I think that would remove its intended use.)

JudasIscariot: Hi guys,

It has come to my attention that there are a few issues that may need to be looked at and ironed out with the forum. I am basing this statement on my experience from PMs from forum members concerned with their rep and your experiences that I read about here on the forum itself.

So let's talk:

What would you like to see in the GOG forum?

What would you change, what would you keep the same?

In short, feel free to express your opinion on your experience with the forum in general and what you think can be done to improve or enhance the experience :)
Rep - disable the downvoting button (probably the simplest solution)- you've seen the number of complaints about downrepping (i honestly think there are serial downreppers floating around......). Maybe replace it with a separate button for identifying Spam . Or at least like others have said show who did the downrepping
Search function - never really worked for me
Sub forums? -- yeah certain people (not me) complained about too many giveaway threads clogging up the threads.....

Thanks for taking all the feedback onboard :)
