I also find it ODD that many of his posts(in which he sometimes insults other's tastes and sometimes them as well) go HIGH rated en masse and everyone else who disagrees goes ALL low rated....and not just in this one thread. Either someone reallly agrees with him/really dislikes us or.......

kai2: Have you heard someone here advocating "zero curation?"
I think Rjbuffchix was talking in general and not about you/many in this thread...I could be wrong though.

Btw to all: I am likely going to "bite the bullet" in the next few months/buy it on steam to test it out & see if it's as bad as is being claimed by a few people here.....I will likely report any findings here when I do such....

Seems a pretty fair review of Vendetta:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdLcGNGEjIQ

Generally, he says...

* the game has been polished from earlier version

* game still has some bugs and issues but can be completed

* the game is recommended for fans of the genre... but not at full price

Well, since Grimoire was released today, it seems that nothing is impossible! (:

RW does an always-admirable job of tracking titles on sale. I have to say I almost feel a little bad knowing how it is going to annoy him having to keep seeing and writing Grimoire among that :) Oh and big surprise, the game released here at the $9.99 price just like on itch...not the $39.99 number that keeps getting erroneously invoked. To me, this indicates a newer DRM-free edition of Vendetta:Curse of Raven's Cry could do the same and release here updated, with a cheaper price than before.

Yes, now we just need to get one of my favorite RPGs here(Harbinger) and i'd be even happier. :D

Heck, i'd likely even buy some copies if it was cheap enough or went on sale to hand out at some point. :)
Meanwhile, we have reached 70 votes! Many thanks to every participant!

Yeah, I completely agree that the base price for Vendetta should be reduced and/or it should get a huge discount on release, as it was, for example, with Killer Is Dead.

:)
I played Vendetta earlier this year. Turned out that the game is so buggy that if an enemy stands on a sloped surface of any kind, I can't hit it, sword passes right through. Ship combat looked promising, but the inability to hit things that are not standing on perfectly flat surfaces kind of makes the game impossible to play... I don't know how common this bug is, but the game has a reputation for being very buggy.

Would STILL need to do a lot of quality control and bug fixing, even then the plot really needs a re-write to the point it might be better to make a new game. I recall when Ravens Cry looked promising and had hopes for it....I'm an old timer when it comes to this game. I can recall the fun shanties they used to put out while people waited for more news on the game.

I have no problem ultimately with games coming here to gog as long as they make people happy and gog wants them but they need a certain standard of ' technical stability.' I am a bit concerned about paid mods, asset flips and RPG maker type games though.

I'mma let Vendetta get finished, but Blood and Gold: Caribbean had the greatest shanty of all time.

It is a pity that this game has not come out in gog. The game barely has bugs. The developers corrected them and it's a great game.

What reasons did gog give to reject it?
if it helps

I think it's because the initial release (Raven's Cry) had some serious problems at launch, and then it was almost immediately replaced with Vendetta.

As far as I know, GOG rejected only Raven's Cry, but not Vendetta. TopWare Interactive still doesn't mind releasing this game here if GOG allows them to do so. There is little hope that they will at least try to do it when they release the Shattered Embrace DLC for Two Worlds II here.

Let's just wait and see.

I'm pretty sure that support staff can't disclose details of why GOG accepted or rejected any game. I think the only thing that they can offer in this case is to contact the publisher and/or developer for more information.

You can't be serious...the developers abandoned the game after they re-released the game with a new name incorporating the few bug fixes they did. it is still a buggy mess.

Here's a snippet of a review from December...

"*WARNING* Vendetta - Curse of Raven's Cry is filled with technical bugs, glitches, missing dialogs, missing cut scenes, game crashes and other madness driving points, so if you expect a polished quality game, then Vendetta is the wrong choice! *WARNING*

Rating: bad (4/10)"

AFTER the bugs supposedly have been fixed...this "newly renamed" title has 45% positive reviews...
Those are the facts of the situation. There is nothing great about this game...
