It’s time to brew coffee and stretch your fingers – after a few years of absence, the Insomnia Promo event is back on GOG! With it arrive the best deals and the exciting anticipation that will drive away your sleep, while also giving loads of fun!

This Summer Sale on GOG is already full of deep discounts, yet we saved the most delicious treats, especially for the Insomnia Promo. How does it work? Starting now, once every 6 hours a new great game will appear here, bearing an insanely deep discount. Right now, you can already see the first title – the best-selling strategy game Frostpunk 85% off!

What’s the catch? Every game appearing during the event will only have 6 hours to catch your attention. After the time runs out, a new game will appear, while the former one will get back on our Summer Sale with the initial, lower discount. The other factor you have to be aware of is the limited stock of Insomnia deals!

So, be on the lookout, because cool titles like Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Don't Dry and Solasta: Crown of the Magister Supporter Edition are bound to appear at the Insomnia Promo event at some time (when? We’ll just have to wait and see ;)). So, take that caffeine shot and be on the lookout for great discounted games!

Wottie: I sincerely hope GOG won't miss this opportunity to make a joke, even if it should appear for just an hour or so, or maybe with a very limited amount, like 10 copies, for $0.01 or something. Just reference it in some way, pretty please!

Panaias: +1

If GOG pulls that joke, I will buy it for old times' sake.
I've been thinking the same, all sale long, but my hopes are pretty low now. It's all the more sad that I'm pretty sure that about 3-5 years back, that time's GOG marketing staff would have definitely gone for it. But these days, GOG seem to take themselves too serious - to their own detriment. :(

Can anyone confirm that the offline installers received the patches? ...because that's a hard rule for me. As far as I'm concerned, anything that's not officially available through the web browser or some other open-source software like a torrent client is "client-encumbered" (even if lgogdownloader does support the Galaxy APIs, it's not one of the official ways to use them) and, thus, is as ineligible for influencing my purchasing decisions as DRM-locked stuff offered through Steam.

From the April 2022 posts on the forum, it seems the one complaining has been using the offline installers. Could it be that the saving (and perhaps other issues) is somehow tied to galaxy, perhaps because of a faulty cloud saving implementation? Wouldn't be the first time.

They have. Nine days after galaxy, back in November 2021.

zeffyr: At first a little note - I bought the game at launch, put almost 20 hours into it and almost completed it (final fight still is waiting for me), so I'm writing this post from a game's owner and a player's point of view.

I want to challenge this info from Timboli. Personally I have never experienced save file bug or any saving issues in this game. The devs fixed some save file bugs in July '21 patch, so some reviews from before that date might be outdated.

I also denounce the info about 'no mouse support' - it was introduced in November '21 patch (the last one available) and it allows 'players can navigate the menus, shoot cannons, and move the camera with a mouse' - personally I haven't found playing the game with keyboard only or a pad an issue, yet this (I admit, limited) mouse support isn't a game changer for those who want to play with mouse only. But introducing mouse-only support would probably need rebuilding whole user interface and such.

About 'abandoning' the game - devs have delivered all of the features they promised at the launch with subsequent patches, within 6 months since the game release. The game is from my point of view complete, finished and worth playing. If it's a one's cup of tea - that's another story. It's not the best pirate game I've played, it's not the worst one either - I liked it, if you're a pirate games' fan - give it a try. But please do not spread misleading info without playing it first.

Anyway, if you experience technical issues, you're eligible for a refund when GOG's support won't be able to help you. But in my opinion the game is at least worth trying, you might enjoy it. It's definitely not a bad game, just not a greatest one out there.
Thanks for the feedback, and as most would realize I was just a messenger who also has an interest in the game, and so getting feedback that countered what I had read was one of the things I was hoping for.

Alas the game is still too pricey for me, especially with the doubts hanging over it. I only grab the Offline Installers, not interested in what Galaxy provides, which may be some kind of fix after the fact for saving. I won't be running Galaxy, so I wouldn't be benefiting from any such, and others need to know that is the case before wasting their time over it.

I never go into buying a game at GOG and counting on a refund if I am not happy, especially as there seems to be a long delay with refunds these days. I research properly, or as well as I can, so that I can hopefully avoid all that.

Since we had "Dreamfall - The Longest Journey" here on sale I wasn't sure if I should purchase it here again because I already own the retail version of the game. To be sure that this would still work on my Win10 OS I decided to simply test it ... so ...

If anybody ever again doubts why DRM is a bad thing - here's the personal experience I just had a few hours ago. Installation went fine and when I tried to start the game it told me that I'd have to install a copy protect driver for the game to run. I thought "beh" but it was just for testing so I did as I was told. Afterwards the PC hatd to be restarted I did and .... that was all the fun I had since my Windows 10 PC did not launch anymore AT ALL. It only went to "repair mode" was unable to repair and restarted ... again and again. Only because of the fact that I still had another HDD with an OS available was it even possible for me to remove this stupid driver from my HDD and bring my OS back to life. Thanks starforce, the customer who paid money was NOT amused about this AT ALL. Luckily for me I now figured out that they removed this mean copy protection with the latest patch which I then found and used ... now all is fine again but what a scare ... took me several hours until I managed to fix it. Never again will I install any copy protection driver on my system.

I want to buy King of Seas but I'm worried that the saving won't work. I have only seen a few posts say that they have problems, but on the other hand I've seen even fewer say they have no problems saving the game. And I would be using the offline installers, so if there is a fix through Galaxy, that won't help me.

Has anyone who has bought the game now tried it yet? With the offline installers?

Try it and refund it if it really should not work. There is no risk involved this way and you can be sure that it is working for you (which is the main thing).

Well I've been waiting for Dreamfall to go to its historical low @ $2.99 for 2 years or so. Don't think it'll ever go that low again so I've bought it.
Man we aint got no Sonico, not a lot of variety going on here.
We got some free games so we had that right?
Maybe they will surprise us? Can we get the keaning to come back...

What are the reasons that people keep mentioning that they don't want to play the games using Galaxy? I don't really know much about Galaxy and how it works or what the problems are with it.

I don't know about others, but I just prefer to launch games directly, rather than having to go through a client, having to launch it first before being able to play my game. I don't need the extra level of useless overhead, not on galaxy, not on steam, not anywhere.
