nettiebug: At the risk of seeming stupid, what is a whitelist?
avatar
JMich: Whitelist is a list of programs that you flag as safe, no matter what the antivirus/security suite thinks. It is the opposite of blacklist which flags a program as unsafe/malicious, even if the antivirus treats it as safe.
avatar
nettiebug: I closed the downloader and restarted it again and it made me start the download all over again. Seems like I'm back to square one.
avatar
JMich: No idea then, hopefully either Fallen_Zen or Szulak will see and reply to you soon.
Could you please post your log file? It is located as below:
Windows 7/Vista - C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\GOG.com

Whitelist is a lost of hosts, IP addresses or applications which would not be 'checked' by your antivirus. Here is detailed guide how to do it: http://support.kaspersky.com/7913
Please add the GOG Downloader to whitelist and try to download a game again.

Are you sure you want me to post my log file? It's huge!

Use a service like pastebin to paste it, or a service like rapidshare to upload a zip of it. You could try pasting it in a new post, but you'll probably hit the character limit.

Latest update: GOG dowloader stuck at 1.33 out of 1.35GB. I tried to past my logger to pastebin and it locked it up (probably too big). And I have no idea what rapidshare is.

nettiebug: And I have no idea what rapidshare is.
Rapidshare is one of the many filehost sites on the internet, equivalent to dropbox or skydrive. It does seem to require to register before uploading a file atm, so not sure if you want to do that. I'd suggest waiting for Szulak to tell you how to send him the log file.
The game I purchased, the additional downloads, etc. , . have made my ATI display driver stop working. Regret every buying a game on here

Problem has been fixed, removing GOG Downloader and reinstalling it again did the trick.

Reinstalling the downloader fixed a problem in nettiebug's case. Could you post your log file? (or upload on pastebin etc.) ?

well , there's still the log here

not sure that really help ; the issue is ; some times , a game (and only the game not the bonus) got stuck at 99% whatever i do. .(that's why i said reinstalling the downloader doesn't help)

my rant (sorry) : 2 weeks ago this was a known issue , and now it turn out like this

check your firewall & antivirus settings .... (from the support)

i still have the ticket from 2 weeks ago & the one i got today in my maibox.

so.............what's the thruth ? since the downloader is still the 3.2.22

last thing ; i gave another try with deponia 2 -> same issue (it's not in this log)

now i use my browser to download ... till this isn't fixed. And from what i read i'm not alone.

The GOG downloader seems to work well enough for games, but not for things like soundtrack. I end up downloading twice and now I am going to download without it. First time the file is corrupt, second time when the file finishes it just hangs there in the downloader, never finishing. It's obvious that the program does not have a function to check the integrity of the file. An I don't know why. When you start the program again it does not check the file already present, I have to download it all over again.
Is it feature or issue that GOG Downloader cannot resume download of file that was partially downloaded in previous session? I'm simply unable to download larger files because after restart I have to start all over again... :(

Is it a game or a bonus? Unfortunately, GOG downloader can not resume a download of bonus content files.

Actually similar thing happens to me after I use the latest stable version (3.2.22). I was trying to download Painkiller Black Edition (the installer and patch). I paused it for a while because I needed to use the internet. When I tried to continue, it starts all over again from scratch. On a second attempt, it randomly restarts the download even when it's not paused. This never happened to me in the previous versions. Not sure if this because of large filesize.

I switched back to the beta version (3.2.21) right now just to test it again, I hope it won't happen again.

My OS is Windows XP SP3 Home edition, English version.
