Installed through the 7 DVDs yesterday. Took about an hour. Suprisingly, I had to use the DVD drive for the first time since I bought the computer in Sept 2013 even though I had received a number of CE boxes of Kickstarter games which also come with the DVDs.

Took another 6 hours to download the 5Gig data and 300mb patch at my usual 320kb/sec through Rockstar Social Club, played the game for like 1/2 hour before it's 2AM and I had to go to sleep for work. Which meant I had no problems with Social Club yesterday, probably a benefit of living on the other side of the globe while most of the other gamers are asleep.

They're saying the port's pretty good, 60 FPS consistently at high or max graphics settings. In my short playthrough, I didn't have any lag.

Retail box is at least pleasant and satisfying to the touch. Also comes with a big waxed paper map.

Oh and since I pre-ordered the shopkeeper gave me a $7 local dollar discount, which makes it 2 local dollars cheaper than buying on steam. Consider that a win since I get the box and the map and I pay less and I don't have to download 55gigs of data which will definitely take about 3 weeks.

Sounds good to have a physical disk and bonus unfortunately the retail box is $ 20 more expensive here than the steam version. I'm downloading at my friend home who happens to have a fast enough internet access 1.5MB/sec ust spent 22-23 hours downloading *imagine how long it could be with my 80kb/sec :))

I was quite surprised when running this game on low settings with DirectX 10, the graphics remain nice and quite playable with my PC spec. aleast I do not need to upgrade all my PC's components for this game sooner. Over 5 hours of playing I did not find any problems or bugs, I already have the Rockstar Social Club account before so there is no trouble while activation as experienced by other users. by far it's nice port than GTAIV hope that Witcher 3 also working greats and fine at release (no I'm not pre-ordering it since it require high pc spec to run)
Well this is how the physical box set looks like, pretty good huh?

All my GTA games since GTA3 have been on boxed sets so far. Same attractive artwork.
So can anybody clue me in on the Rockstar Social Club thingymabob? Is it just another launcher (that requires an account) similar to Steam or is it full on DRM (you know, limits your activations, forces to be online to play and save, etc etc) similar to GFWL? Can you play the game without having to be online or log in, or do you only need to sign in and be online once to activate it the first time?

It'll be a while before I get a PC that can run GTA V and I figure if it is that DRMed or user unfriendly because of the unavoidable Rockstar Social Club doodad then I might as well get it on console, whenever I get around to buying a Ps3/Xbox 360 that is.
A shitty launcher that gave problems to people trying to register or get into the game yesterday. I had no problems surprisingly probably because I live on the other side of the globe, also because I've registered since GTAIV.

Read that you activate it once, you can play it offline after that. I've yet to try it though.
I'll buy it when it will be 5€ or so, interested on this but not so much.
On very high settings on my 2GB VRAM GTX760. 60 FPS consistent. No lag and pretty glorious.

FOV slider desperately needed for FP view and cockpit view driving..

Here's PC Gamer's vid of the game on Maximum settings with 2 GTX Titans and 60 FPS:

I've been having an absolute blast with this. I mean, you just can't beat graphics like the ones used in the attached screenshot. Game of the Year for sure!

Unfortunately that is typical of every AAA PC game on launch day. Rockstar had been trying to take precautions but some folks are still bound to have problems with the game. A day one patch is the norm these days as digital releases give developers the excuse to release games in shoddy condition to patch it later.

This is what the internet has done to gaming in one aspect. But the internet did gave us GOG.

INB4 Totalbiscuit says that in his WTF-GTA 5 or Port Report ;)

So far is this launch worse or at least less bad than GTA 4's launch?

In all seriousness though, I think it's the best port they done. Absolutely smooth gameplay. Loving it.
They just need to get rid of the horrible launcher.
Oh, they also need to fully support modding.
