I'm not a fan of Game of Thrones. There,I said it.I don't like the idea of having a lot of characters die just for shock or to show how the universe is brutal and I think that the sex scenes are unnecessary and are there just for fan service(I have low tolerance of fan service).
But I have to say that it has a very great lore and I love how it deconstructs several epic fantasy cliches and tropes. So,why am I reading the books?
Simple,I love reading fantasy novels and, according to my brother,it's very different from the TV show and he's right,I feel more immersed and I feel in love with the characters and the situations they're in.
The lore is passed as you read, from the Rebellion to the Battle at the Trident to the previous Winter.I loved the lack of appendices(just there to give you the Major and Minor Houses).
Anyway,I'm halfway through the first book and it does start out slow but it picks up the pace and you read expecting the next chapter like and always alking what'll happen next.
