and i forgot to mention that some time ago my father bought me orange juice! i told my parents SO MANY TIMES not to buy me orange juice... it's because they don't contain natural juice - it's just herbalife pills dissolved into water. i remember that when my grandma lived she had these herbalife pills and sometimes i drank them too. so most likely those pills remained in stores without people to buy them. they outlived their expiration date and these romanians thought to make money from them in illegal ways - like making orange juice out of pills! it really has the same god damned taste and you can even feel the acid leftovers.. seriously! i don't understand how the whole world sees what these romanians are doing and nobody nukes this country.. it's unbelievable... i'd be very happy if a war would start and the whole country would be destroyed even if i had to die myself - at least i'd know the world is rid of romanians... :-/

If anyone cares, I'm looking to spend around 200-400 dollars a month on food. I also work at school so I'm sure I can add to the budget.

I'd rather start learning how to cook now than later!

Beans, rice, and spice seem like a good mix. ;)

Also, one of my best friends is studying in the culinary arts, so he can definitely teach me a thing or two!

well if it is anything like eating healthy in the uk. The healthier your food, the more it costs.

darthspudius: well if it is anything like eating healthy in the uk. The healthier your food, the more it costs.
Well here you can get a box of pasta for a couple of bucks, and all you need to do is boil water for that. The health factor comes down to what you put on it. When I was living alone I'd get box of angel hair, a stick of butter, a clove of garlic, and some salt and ate like a king for a week though some people will tell you I put an unhealthy amount of salt on it.

I live in countryside Belgium, eat mostly healthy vegetarian stuff, and avoid big supermarket like the plague. I spend about 400€ during winter and spring. Less during summer and fall, since I grow lots of vegetable myself, although how much vary depending on weather and cats. Last summer I must have spent about 300€/month, while this summer isn't looking good.
But as P1na said, Belgium is freaking expensive. Back when I lived in the French side of the Franco-Swiss border, I spent around 300€/month, with no garden.

If you can, grow your own food. You can do it inside an apartment if you have enough windows, and you'll get food which is as healthy as you want it to be for extremely cheap.

Over there!? I live on a huge fucking lake and they are expensive here! :P

okay so technically I could go fishing for it but in a 1000 foot deep body of water the fishing gear you'd need cost roughly the same as just buying an entire fish hatchery. :P

haha sounds like my ideal living environment. I live about a mile from what was Scotlands biggest fishing port. Fish use to be regular and cheap... use to be.
