rtcvb32: Hmmm somehow this seems contradictory. Yes good food invests in good health; But few of us have the income to eat perfect meals all the time. Often i find myself wanting to eat and i know it's not for nutrition, it's just because i'm bored... Or maybe i'm missing some key vitamin i'm not aware of.
You
really mean no one should strive to get low quality/cheap/insubstantial food in order to lower costs. This i agree with whole heartedly, but quite often you can survive quite well with less food, as often most of us in the USA overeat.
This sorta reminds me, i've heard that in other countries the meals they serve/eat is primarily rice (
filler) while the
juicy bits is relatively small in comparison. This knowledge changed how i ate sushi quite a bit, and i'm quite glad it did.
But of course. Also there is no such thing as a perfect meal. And it does not need to be expensive, but be balanced and have variety. Raw vegetables (the ones that can be consumed raw, that is) is one VERY good thing to eat, fruit (certain ones and in certain places are generally cheap), white meat etc. Certain things like flour, sugar and salt are very bad. Bad alas, they are daily on the table.
Overeating and eating junk food is the real danger. It is appealing. And difficult to resist, both. Negative psychology helps a lot both to overeating and putting much weight in small time, also, which is another trap; more or less, many people today have either negative psychology, or too little time on their hands to get a proper diet and food time.
Another danger is the Genetically Processed Food, which alas, is going to find its way into European markets, soon. American companies press european trade and markets for such an intro and the underground issue/deal, lately, found way into publicity. I fear for the worst. Worst case scenario, i will ban from my diet ANYTHING that can be genetically processed, trying to replace it with other things.
