Roxolani: For me: not games, but films/movies.
Which ones?
Dark Souls. I really want to play a good and difficult RPG which is not Witcher 2 on highest difficulty setting. Yet, to me, Dark Souls felt like a series of various fuck ups. Oh well.

I think I'll give it another shot later down the line. Perhaps.

bailiwick1: Planescape Torment. Started it twice. Haven't played for a few months now. It's so critically acclaimed, but I really have trouble with how the game world looks. In general I'm OK with the interface of older games, but with Planescape I just can't get into the game.I really want to like this and finish it, but if I'm honest with myself I'd rather spend my game time with other games.
So far my problem with Planescape Torment is that its first half is BORING!!

There I said the first portion where you have to find your Journal and Pharod is just boring. The whole first levels are boring and so confused clusterfuck of a mess because of its alien design.

Nothing interesting happens in the side acitvities.

I am hoping that the game picks up steam after I find the Journal.

A recent example is:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1714915/

It's a good film, but not for my taste. I watched it several times, but I can't love it. I enjoy some parts of it, but I failed to love the whole movie. The director is my favorite, but this film is not for me.

Sometimes I watch random 6+ rated films (based on Metacritic, RottenTomatoes, IMDb, reviews) to find good ones. Some of them are underrated, some overrated, some good but not for me.

What can I actually say, I liked it for the weird and alien design and for the fact that nothing but excellent writing was really happening troughout the first half. It was like playing an interactive novel with proper decisionmaking and RPG element and have given me a chance to explore a world nothing like anything else I've seen in RPG, it's great.

I also notice that most dialoge is a wall of text. A problem might occur when to much details could be pointless in the long run.

What's wrong with the second half?

A lot more combat. It's still good, just not as.

petitmal: Yup. Can't get into the The Witcher-series. Played W1 for about 50% and got bored and dulled out of the game.

Don't understand the fuss at all.

0Grapher: Even if you didn't like Witcher1 you should really try Witcher 2.
I can understand why people can't get into Witcher 1.
Still, Witcher 2 it's totally different, in my opinion. :)

One game that I really tried to like was Skyrim. I have to admit that I expected too much, but I still don't understand why many people consider Skyrim a good game...
You are right: Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 are totally different. Didn't like either of them.

Oh, so you've tried both games. I just wanted to make sure that you wouldn't miss out on a game that you might have enjoyed because the prequel wasn't to your liking. ;)

Yup. Got them both on sale and was looking forward to playing, based on its high ratings.
Tried a couple of times actually. I am not sure why or even if I disliked the game. It's probably a good game; it is just not fo r me.

It would be nice if it 'd be possible to give games like these to others...
Evil Genius, I guess. It should be like the perfect game for me. It has a setting and style I love, is largely inspired by some of my all-time favourite games and it was critically acclaimed. Still, I just can't get into it. Whenever I try it several hours in I just don't feel like playing it anymore. It's the same in case of my brother - he loves the style and the premise of the gameplay but he also quit very soon after trying it.
Dwarf Fortress. I love the idea of it , the concept is amazing but I just can't get over the interface and controls. The graphics do not bother me but the user interface is to big of an obstacle for me.

I felt the same way you did at first. If you read some tutorials, or find someone that's willing to help you learn, you will thank yourself later. When I finally forced myself to understand dwarf fortress, it eventually clicked for me. I'm running one of my best fortresses now, and the game is helping get through the last hellish semester of college I hope I ever have to endure.
