Insomnia returns to GOG.com.

BREAKING TOO: You bought all the classics. Nice! Fresh new games are taking over both streams until all units are gone. We're getting there, so be quick!

BREAKING: Doomsday projections of an impending worldwide caffeine shortage reported, as the hyper-popular Insomnia promo returns to GOG.com. Last spotted in May of 2014, the "greatest promo ever" has since transformed into a phenomenon most accurately described as "Double Insomnia". GOG.com's best men have been unable to fully comprehend the nature of this beastly transformation so far. Preliminary research indicates, however, that its effects are relatively benign.

Welcome back, sleepless friends. Against everyone's better judgement, the hyperactive promo returns to GOG.com with twice the everything. The Double Insomnia Promo will feature more games than ever, and two simultaneous pools: Seasoned classics and Fresh new titles. If you know how this works you're probably trembling with anticipation already (or is it fear?), but if you're just joining us... well, you'll still probably make it out okay.

What's all the hullabaloo about? All sales are offered in limited quantities, and the number of copies remaining is labeled with a huge counter on the front page. There are two pools, and only one game from either pool can be on sale at one time. Once a game sells out, another will immediately take its place so that two are always available. If you missed your chance, fear not but keep your eyes open! Your favorite one will probably be back. Insomnia mercilessly goes on, day and night, until every single unit is gone - like a carousel of deals. You might even have a chance to get a free game, if you're lucky that is.

Dreamfall Chapters is a steal at this price imo, even if it's not fully out yet.

I backed their kickstarter back in the day and thus have no need for it (getting a boxed limited edition :D).

Meanwhile, any store page takes 3-5 minutes to load for me and then I get it in plain text, meaning even if I were to bother figuring out what's what, I don't think I could buy anything. Good times.
At least you get an apology for the inconvenience!

Edit: Oh and right as I post this it starts working again. I do like such coincidences.

Finally, the pace increase a bit and insomnia looks more like genuine insomnia :D

Yeah sometimes promo loads can suck. We just need to kick them in the pants then give them a group hug or something and they'll sort it out. :) The worst part was there was no GOG bear. :)

You feel free to do the hugging after I'm done kicking.
It was just funny that the forum was fine while the store was all wonky. But I haven't yet reached the point where I get mad at GOG for such things.

As more people become aware of the sale, the countdowns will go by more quickly, generally.

Towards the end of the sale, when people get buyers fatigue, things will drag out more slowly,
but the conversation in the forum should get more entertaining...

Was the same for me, I did need 10+ tries to get the front page to load normally. Plain text with links taking ages to load.
I just received Seven Cities of Gold for FREE. ????? It said "critical hit complete the sale, Price Free!"

So unexpected.

Thanks GOG!
When did this start?

I just got the Email ... love it when GOG always sends the Emails before something starts.

Oh I'm not mad. :) Mildly irritated, but I wont get mad either. I prefer a more self-empowered approach than anger per se... I do what I do and if it doesn't work, I hit "close" and go do something else instead that is more enjoyable or whatnot. :) I've got a huge catalogue of games so if it ends up I can't navigate the website as in the past, I might find that Skyrim loads and works instead for example... or my 7-string guitar is sitting right beside me ready to keep the neighbours in line. :)
The Spirit of Keane is here! I can't believe it!

Thanks, but I guess with this wonderfully responsive web site the games are anyway sold out before I have opened the games card and scrolled down to read it. ;)

You know the twist to this sale that I would really like to see is, if a person spends a set amount of money (e.g. $50.00) they would receive all free games offered during the sale.

IT would be a reward for spending and supporting gog and not have to stay up in hopes of seeing a free game come up during the sale.
