I sent in feedback about the new account design and this is the reply I received.

"Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. Please note that, over time, the old Account section became increasingly difficult to maintain and expand, which prompted us to replace it with a completely new implementation. Because it is virtually impossible to maintain both the old and new Account section, we will only continue to improve on the new one. The old section will no longer be available, even in optional form.
Some functionalities of the old Account didn't make it into the new one - some might still find their way back in the future, while others cannot, due to technical considerations. As you most likely remember, the old Account became more and more resource-hungry over time, and we wanted to avoid this in the new one.
We hope that, over time, you will grow accustomed to the new section, and please rest assured that we're not done with it yet, and we will be adding features and improvements in the future.

Regards,
Natalia

So no more GoG for me. The main thing I liked about GoG was the classic game shelf with the original game boxes. I'll be downloading my classics and adios, GoG. Not a huge deal because I've hated almost every decision they've made recently anyway; web site design, adding movies, adding newer games, adding social features, focusing on the download client.

Disappointing to see yet another company forget their original customers, vision and lose their soul. Becoming another cookie cutter games portal? I expect they'll be implementing some garbage like Steam Greenlight soon also.

Of course this is my opinion, so if you disagree and like the new GoG, great. I'll be interested to see what happens with them, but without my patronage.

P.S. Another clear sign that GoG has lost their way; advertising/selling DLC for a game that hasn't even been released yet.

Oh boy it's one of those threads, GOG is dead to me over superficial stuff that really doesn't matter...

I wish you luck though wherever you go from here. ;)
Hey, you should be happy. At least they didn't insult you.
First world problems, man. First world problems...

Just because it does not matter to you, does not mean it doesn't matter to other people ;-)

Exactly. Frankly I spent most of my money here because of the nostalgia factor and the design reminding me of my physical shelves of games as a youth.

Hey I'm not saying it shouldn't matter, but the whole lets act like this crap is that important is getting old... like literally the crap being complained about is superficial that has no real effect at all on anything.

I'm an original customer, and I don't feel forgotten by GOG and its recent evolution. Not saying that I necessarily agree wioth everything they did, but still, GOG is my place.

And so far, GoG galaxy is working fine, so I have nothing to complain about that too... Guess I'm just lucky...
Dead, as in an inanimate object? Yeah, GOG is dead to me too. Always has been, always will be.

I kinda like GOG at the moment though, so if that makes me necrophiliac, so be it.

I admit I didn't realize the look of the virtual shelf on the GOG account is so important to some. Maybe because I've always preferred using the list mode, as at least the game titles are fully readable then, unlike in the shelf view where there are some obscure letters on some small virtual boxes.

There are some things that may annoy me more though, like how downloading the installers seem to be more clicks away. Meaning, if I wanted to re-download all my 964 GOG games, I'd have to perform at least that many extra clicks.

(Still hoping some wizard to come up with a third-party GOG downloader tool that can download all GOG installers in one big swoop from the account...)

Not to be argumentative, just trying to let you know how myself (and I think some other people feel) but it is "THAT IMPORTANT" to me.

Agreed.

I'm still tripping over the new furniture arrangement. Toes are sore but hopefully I'll find my way.

I like my response from the other thread, so I'll keep reposting it ;-) Seriously, don't trust an online store to keep your collection in a way that you like it. It's not their primary focus.
For the sake of being thorough, you should have posted your original feedback.
posting the support answer only doesn't serve much purpose (and reading personal correspondence never sits well with me, not that there is anything wrong in this case).

Then, while I respect your opinion, not providing arguments past the DLC issue won't spark a discussion. That's why users get weary of those threads : you are not the first, you won't be the last, and there is little to say on the subject aside good luck in finding another place to get games, if you are still interested in those.

Well unfortunately and I'm not calling you out... but some people around here expect GOG to cater to them. Some people here are having the hard realization and acceptance that they are not GOG's target audience anymore, so therefor they complain about everything GOG does now.

If you don't like it that's fine, but GOG is a businesses... not your friend, and clients and online features and not being niche is what keeps a gaming business alive.

There is nothing wrong with the game shelves, not going to argue over what looked better, but at the end of the day as long as it does what it's meant to do that is all that really matters...
