Hi, everyone!

The Galaxy team is hard at work to bring you the Client application that will let you manage your GOG.com games library more conveniently. We’d love for the initial release experience to be as smooth and streamlined as possible for everyone, but releasing an app of this scope is no easy feat.

But before we jump in and hand out the alpha Client, we’d like to set some ground rules.

1) The key word here is ‘alpha’, which means that this is not the final app and not all functionalities are present. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the core tech in the Client on a wider set of computer configurations than what we can locally test on, so only core features are included. Below I will post a detailed list of what is present and what we plan to add in future releases.

2) Alpha also means that you can encounter some unexpected issues. If you have a metered connection (a bandwidth cap or payments per bandwidth used) or you’re currently playing and can’t afford a loss of game time, this might not be for you. In other words, if you want to avoid potential problems with the alpha Client, simply wait for the final release.

3) Please, please, please refrain from posting screenshots, reviews or first impressions, both on our forums or elsewhere, as this is not the final product and many changes will still be made.

If you’ve read all of the above proceed to the signup page: http://www.gog.com/galaxy/alpha

We will be sending out invitations in batches (along with some more info on how to install the client and report bugs), so not everyone will receive one right away.

HOW TO IMPORT EXISTING GAMES INSTALLATIONS INTO GALAXY

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the "+" button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library, then click the More button and select "Manage" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

d3vilsadvocate: where do I add some feedback, here?

I really like the client, here is what I would change though:

-add borderless window mode
-text looks hard to read at 2560x1440 with DPI scaling at 125%, please add high DPI modes.
-let me chose my own client language please
-let me chose what installes games show up on the left
-add forum access
-add a tray icon and minimize to tray option
-the games in my library do not show up in alphabetical order, it's all a mess right now

Hope I could help, keep going!
What for you need a borderless window?
As for the language Venom already mentioned this, that feature is planned. We don't like to force anything on you guys.
The games in the library are sorted by the last time you played, we're still working on that, maybe we'll add more options to customise this, I'm not sure, we'll see :)

Gaydorado: I had to turn off "GOG.com Downloader Mode" because when the downloader launched, it added the Galaxy Client Alpha as a paused download, and there was no way of unpausing/resuming it. I tried changing the download path and restarting the computer, but didn't work.

Fallen_Zen: The downloader issue should be fixed right now.
Thanks for fixing the issue. Worked like a charm just now :-)
Thank you for the update, especially I'm happy with downloads section. Still missing Shell_NotifyIcon though (using 3rd party software now). Also please add pm notification, with sound if possible. Full forum acces would be great but I can wait for it a bit longer. All the rest seems to work correctly so far.

I think he's probably looking for a fullscreen mode like hitting F11 in Firefox, or Big Picture mode in Steam where it takes up the entire screen with no desktop OS UI showing. Potentially quite useful when displaying a gaming client/launcher on a big television in the livingroom or similar.
I had a weird problem now, I updated to the newest version of the client and all games are uninstalled. :D

Could you please open a ticket at this url and attach client's logs and any information you find useful for us to debug the problem?

I did it, hope you find something. Luckily my connection is fast enough to download them again. :)
I really like the Galaxy Client, everything works great!
Now there are 3 features I'd love to have here :

-The most important : Time tracking, I like to know how much time I played a game.
-in the library, on each game, a link to the game store pagea would be cool, so we can have more information about it, like the reviews
-Achievments

It doesn't sound as if the client will be finished by the release of The Witcher 3. I really would like to order The Witcher 3 on GOG and directly support you, however I fear that updates for The Witcher 3 will be much slower than for the Steam version of the game, if the client isn't finished by then... :( Or you will have to download much bigger file sizes than on Steam, which is a problem with my internet connection.

If the Witcher 3 is anything like the Witcher 2, it will have an auto-updater, regardless of the store you buy it from.

Believe me, you don't have to worry about that on GOG :)
The game will have a built in auto-update mechanics, so it is the opposite to be exact. Updates to the game will be pushed by the development team directly.

That's good to know, I guess I already forgot that Witcher 2 had an autopatcher, after playing through the enhanced edition recently.
Upon my first installation of the Galaxy Client alpha, I noted none of my games which were installed via the GOG.com Downloader appeared as "installed", despite the client alpha's game data folder set to the same as the Downloader: D:/GOG Games.
More bugs:

When a game has been added to the download queue and not yet installed, it's labeled in the "My Library" section as installed. However, going into the game's individual section reveals the game isn't download since the "Play" button is not enabled.

Somewhat related, after adding about 4 games to the download queue via their individual game pages, I finally realized each game in the library had a little drop-down arrow which has an "Install" option inside. After realizing this, I used this to add my GOG copy of Darkstone to the download queue. While it was added successfully, its drop-down arrow was not replaced by the "Installed" label like all the other enqueued games. However, after adding another game to the download queue via the drop-down option, the issue rectified itself.

All five of my hidden games are being sorted separately at the very bottom of my list without any separation - that is, the last game in my list, which is the only one to start with a 'W', is then immediately followed by my first hidden game, which starts with an 'A'.

Not bugs, but usability suggestions:

Whenever I navigated to a game's page using their icon in "My Library", then came back, my position in "My Library" was lost. This is annoying as extras can, at the moment, only be downloaded from a game's page, so if I wanted to download extras for any games near the bottom of my large list of purchased games (say, get all the extras for Torchlight, then Tyrian 2000), I'd have to scroll all the way to the bottom repeatedly.

The sort/view "My Library" options don't "stick" to their starting position, instead scrolling along with the rest of the page. This means if I want to change how things are sorted and/or displayed after scrolling through the results, I have to scroll all the way back up to the top of the page.
I installed the alpha this afternoon, but it seems that not all of my games are displayed in the Library page. Is it normal in the current state of the software ?
