Hi, everyone!

The Galaxy team is hard at work to bring you the Client application that will let you manage your GOG.com games library more conveniently. We’d love for the initial release experience to be as smooth and streamlined as possible for everyone, but releasing an app of this scope is no easy feat.

But before we jump in and hand out the alpha Client, we’d like to set some ground rules.

1) The key word here is ‘alpha’, which means that this is not the final app and not all functionalities are present. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the core tech in the Client on a wider set of computer configurations than what we can locally test on, so only core features are included. Below I will post a detailed list of what is present and what we plan to add in future releases.

2) Alpha also means that you can encounter some unexpected issues. If you have a metered connection (a bandwidth cap or payments per bandwidth used) or you’re currently playing and can’t afford a loss of game time, this might not be for you. In other words, if you want to avoid potential problems with the alpha Client, simply wait for the final release.

3) Please, please, please refrain from posting screenshots, reviews or first impressions, both on our forums or elsewhere, as this is not the final product and many changes will still be made.

If you’ve read all of the above proceed to the signup page: http://www.gog.com/galaxy/alpha

We will be sending out invitations in batches (along with some more info on how to install the client and report bugs), so not everyone will receive one right away.

Hi everyone,

we've released the 0.7 version a couple of minutes ago, here's the changelog:

- Back/Forward navigation in the Store section
- Import Folder - it is now possible to import a game which is not compatible with the client, by clicking the game in the Library section and choosing ‘Import Folder’ from the More dropdown
- Startup page option - it is now possible to decide if the client should start on LIBRARY page, STORE page, or continue previous session
- Search option - you can press enter in the search field to continue searching in the Store
- Option to Show Game Folder added to MORE menu
- New sidebar sorting options (sort by name)
- External links will now be forwarded to the system browser
- Wishlist option added to the LIBRARY menu
- Community option in the STORE menu
- Forum Replies option in the ACCOUNT menu
- Option to keep saves, when uninstalling a game
- Windows: starting the client when another instance is already running should now open the running instance (rather than displaying error message)
- Improved ‘Last Played’ information, which should now show the time of the user stopped playing the game, rather than started playing the game
- Fixed uninstallation issues on Windows
- Fixed an issue which prevented using Paypal, when buying a game
- Fixed an issue which prevented from displaying Terms and Agreements when registering new account
- Fixed some issues when installing and uninstalling DLCs
- Bugfix: client will now not allow dragging elements onto its window

HOW TO IMPORT EXISTING GAMES INSTALLATIONS INTO GALAXY

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the "+" button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library, then click the More button and select "Manage" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

misteryo: I still can't log in to the client. I tried several times. I finally reset my password. Still no luck. Bummer.

Venom: Are you getting any particular error? Can you logout and login on the website? There is no wide spread issue with login system, so it seems to be isolated to your account atm.
I can log in/out on the website just fine. When I try to log in to the client, I get:

Not Connected
Galaxy Client cannot offer online functionalities at this time, because it is not connected to GOG.com
Connect Now

When I press the button, a login screen appears. When I fill out the fields, I get a little error box in the upper right corner of the client screen saying, "An error occurred during sign in."
Sorry if this has been asked before.

Will there be a way to import my games from say Steam or Origin to Gog Galaxy?

I'm really interested in moving away from Steam but i have around 200 games + about 200 add on DLC ect in my library there.

It kind of feels like Valve is using my Library to keep me hostage, if I were to raise 1 pay dispute with them they will lock me out of my library and I would loose access to the 400+ items i've already paid for in full in the past.

I know some games aren't on gog.com and I wouldn't mind loosing some but would there be a way to activate games like i did when i moved my CDRP games over from steam to Gog.com?

Isn't it true?
Sadly most of nowadays games are tied to steam, whether you buy box or digital version. The only hope, choice where we want to redeem retail game will be given to us in the future. As for redeeming Steam games on GOG I'd say no, I don't think it will be ever possible. Unless CDP absorb Valve ; )

Between mid-week and a week after. It will be sometime around the next alpha build release - which very likely will be also the last alpha before we go into beta mode (and yes, we do have some new stuff planned for the beta if anyone's wondering :)

The only thing I think that can be done is to have the possibility to add external games to Galaxy (like Steam) and then if it's a Steam game stablish that when you click on "Play" Steam opens and the game start. Or something like that.

Also, there are some games on Steam that can be run without Steam, you can check some of them here.

Will the Linux alpha come along with the Windows beta? Are there any news about when the Linux alpha will show?

Well thanks guys I kind of thought that there would be no way to redeem or move the non CDPR games over but I still feel I had to ask no harm in asking at least lol.

I just need to find a way to make all my steam games run without having the steam client open I guess, thanks again for the answers and the link.

It seems that beta release will be correlated with Witcher 3 release (May 19).

I noticed that Galaxy client for games that I played more than month ago sticks label "Not yet played". More accurate should by something like: "Played more than month ago".
Wouldn't it be easier to acquire Desura and change its client? It has to be one of GOGs largest competitors in the DRM free space. I'm sure there are many that would love to have their GOG and Desura libraries merged into one easy to use client rather than have another client to install. It would also make for one giant DRM free wrecking ball.

Desura and GOG are both good but their principles and user base is more different than it could seem at first glance. While GOG have a rigid stance against DRM, Desura does not and they even sell Steam keys. Probably Desura users won't view this as an inconvenience but many GOG users for sure will do. Also the policy of accepting games is quite different in both plattforms as Desura's quality filter is almost none.

Nice, will it be a public beta or still closed? :)
I'd really like to see multiple drive/directory support when installing (c:, d:, e:, etc).

Is there some list or bug queue of existing feature requests or known issues?
I'd like to build upon eastc post; I am really loving the Galaxy client and can't wait to see the improvements you guys integrate into the system. I'd like to add a request for a description of the game to be added to the game selection menu item. Having the "latest news" is great, but having a description of the game or a synopsis would be even better.

Open, but with some short waiting queue at the very beginning.

For now you can change installation folder in Client settings between installs and it should work. Ultimately we will improve the screen before installing to let you pick install folder or language.

Yup - http://mantis.gog.com

I believe it is on the to-do list ;)
