== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Once again moving fully updated installation's from desktop to my laptop and once again Galaxy (in this case Ultimate General - Gettysburg) want's to re-download almost the entire game (over 1 GB) for files Galaxy already has.available. Confirmed it to be actually downloading the files via looking in the temp folder and is not related to the import glitch showing the wrong download size. Please tell me this will be fixed/improved when delta patching/compressed patching is added, or if not we need some kind of backup feature that completely copies a game from one computer to another with the Galaxy database intact, etc. Most though only needed a small 2 or more MB patch, which is fine.

Also Galaxy still fails completely if you try to "scan and import" more than 1 game at a time with Galaxy outright failing to verify files and in a lot of cases the game failing to work at all and the game not being able to be played without an uninstall/re-install.

It's nice to test out the client and get a feel for where it may be going in the future, but I've found that for practical use it is best to install and update games the old fashioned way using the standalone installers and either keep Galaxy offline, or configure all games to manual updates only. It just downloads, redownloads way too much data wasting gobs of monthly ISP download cap even on connections that have large caps. I pity people using it on low end Internet connections as they'll quickly burn through their entire monthly ISP data cap.

The 1.1.5 release has been out for ages now and we've only gotten the occasional silent undocumented update a few times for many months now it seems. I've more or less put further testing/reporting on hold until we get a new major build with delta updates and compression as that seems to be the single biggest missing functionality at the moment. Hopefully they'll have something in January or February, as I'm looking forward to testing new bits and definitely to testing delta updates. That'll be something worthy of burning some ISP bandwidth for. :)

Crsldmc: why not keep the Good Old GOG Downloader, no need to support it, I believe it was pretty stable all the time
You are aware that this is exactly what they've done, right? Downloader is still available to download, downloader links are still available, although a bit hidden. Newer additions to the catalog may not be properly supported by the downloader, which does fall under the "no need to support it".

I'm downloading old titles so indeed, no need to support it, I could appreciate some directions to the software download as I'm failing at finding it though.

And therefore I get an error when trying to use the GOG downloader links.

EDIT: No need to mate! Blackdrazon was kind to point me in the right direction!

Crsldmc: So, the simple, trusty and non intrusive GOG downloader got phased out by this? I just tried Galaxy and let me tell you is no more in my PC.

Sorry for the rude comment, I just don't like GOG Galaxy and what it wants to be, I just want the old downloader whose only purpose was to download games...
I'll admit the GOG Galaxy is a bit slow loading but once done it's fine.

Didn't know there was a GOG downloader? I kind of like the browser download interface myself. Right click then Save link as method.

What advantage did the GOG downloader have? Could you queue up a bunch of files so they download one after another at full speed or did they all download simultaneously?

The other advantage that would be better than a browser would be if maybe the Gog downloader was more stable and not crash during the downloading.

JanesHQ: Is there a way to remove list of ppl i chatted with? I don't mean friends of course, just some users i chatted just once to give or trade game keys. I keep seeing all of them. I don't want to block them, just to remove from my chat list.

I couldn't find any info about that in this thread.
You mean all the people you chatted with show up or just the last 10 or so?

If it's just a recycling list then just chat with people you want to chat with to get rid of the old list of people.

See if you can add your own name to the chat list and chat with yourself? AIM and a few other chat clients allowed this and I used it for troubleshooting.

Now if there' s no one you want on the recently chatted list then I suppose you could block all of them to clear it until GOG puts in a clear recently chat list feature. It's not like they would try and chat with you anyhow since you already traded and you could unblock at any time.

Haven't tried to manually import more than one game at a time yet. Good to know it won't work.

I noticed the verify files only shows up once you exit GOG Galaxy and relaunch it. So most likely after the first install it won't be lit.

I keep it simple myself.

The TROTT ordeal since it is pretty massive to download. They need to add the GOG Galaxy update patch as a stand alone installer as well. The GOG Galaxy download speed is real slow versus browser download speed.

That way I can pre Galaxy patch it before running Galaxy.

But definitely it's better to deselect always update or download automatically in the options.

I do that with Windows update too but that's another story.

I'd like to see GOG create a simple ascii game program just to test multiplayer functionality. It might be around 100MB or smaller in size. Unless there are some goggers with the skill to make such a program to be put on GOG I got some ideas for the game. Nothing sophisticated but meant as a troubleshooting tool for early GOG Galaxy stage to join and create network games as well as show connection latency. Since it is just ascii and not 3D graphics it should be very simple to create and very low end specs with mouse, keyboard, and USB XBOX 360 game pad support. This should help troubleshoot any GOG Galaxy problems without having to download several GB just to test Galaxy with a bloated game which is very time consuming.

BKGaming: Of course, no point in supporting something that is built into Galaxy, which can download standalone installers just like the downloader. Granted they probably should have waited to Galaxy was more stable.

Then download via browser with a good download manger. Not much different from the downloader. Your kind of late on this complaint seeing as the downloader has been fazed out for a while now.
avatar
Crsldmc: Something that is barely built into Galaxy (its just too buggy right now) and we all know it will take some time to fix this properly, why not keep the Good Old GOG Downloader, no need to support it, I believe it was pretty stable all the time (atleast while they polished Galaxy's download aspects a bit more).

And no, I'm not late, this was going to happen early complaint or not, finally, using a third party software other than GOG's own software is not an option, like to keep my PC clean. :)
Looks like the GOG downloader isn't completely clean. Requires a reboot after installation and a bunch of components to be installed. I'll have to test if the 8x speed is true although downloading through the browser seems to hit peak download rates so probably the same result.

Didn't create any shortcut icon on the desktop or Program Files.

Had to manually hunt for it.

X:\Program Files\GOG.com Downloader

GOG.com Downloader.exe

Testing running it before reboot and it crashes instantly.

After reboot the computer freezes before entering the desktop.

Second reboot the computer loads to desktop like normal.

Running Gog.com Downloader.exe again crashes instantly.

Guess it's broken in some way. Maybe it only works on Vista, Windows 7 or later.

Its working like a charm for me, didn't need to install a bunch of components and didn't need to reboot, It didn't create a shortcut though I'll give you that. :)

You should check what "bunch" of things it needed to install, that's pretty... rare.

My installation only took a few seconds and once I logged in it started working as always.

EDIT: Attached a picture of it.
EDIT2: Attached a new picture of it, I went away for a while and checked back, no crashes, freezes no nothing, and I'm able to play right now, the downloader did its work! Can't say the same for Galaxy sadly.

I just started to look here for exactly the same reason... Come on GOG, how long are we supposed to wait?

Indie sites itch.io and Game Jolt released their desktop clients a few days ago and both have GNU/Linux versions from the start, and they have a lot less people working on them.

iiago: Dumb question - how do I uninstall games that I've installed via GOG Galaxy? I'm using a Mac.
Easy: click the game, then click More -> Manage -> Uninstall.
I can't install the client, got a "missing mfc100.dll" error even though the 32bit and 64bit version of VC 2012++ has been installed manually. Restarting and reinstalling doesn't do anything meaningful either.

A bunch of mfc100[x].dll and the mfc100.dll itself is in system32, but it seems that the installer can't detect them.

I'm running Windows 8.1 64bit

My guess is they haven't even started on a Linux version until they get the Windows version out of beta.

It might take 3 years total to see a working stable final version. At the moment I couldn't even see the networked games hosted so I'm hoping it gets fixed a year from now.
