Did you read the original post? Read it all and then figure out who should apologize. :)

Yes I did, and the same dismissive responses that come up EVERY time a user has this issue.

Spitting in GOG's face, hoping it suffers when it burns to the ground, and all of that isn't provocative at all, is it?

mechmouse: Can long standing community member NOT shoot down new users when they have this issue!

While rare, Cripplingly Slow downloading IS an issue

It has appeared time and time again

So can you please STOP alienating those it happens to

Now its likely, given the vast majority of users have no issues with speed, that issue lies outside of GOG's direct control.

GOG doesn't have the same level of distributed Servers as Steam, nor does it have the same recognition, My initial response is to think its an ISP level issue, with GOG being flagged as a "low priority/high bandwidth" site and is being throttled.

While that's not GOG's fault its not the end user's either, and nor is it something they should distinguish. They're having an issue with this site and it needs to be resolved.

It would be nice if those that dismissed this user's issue apologised.
Thank you for taking the time to state this and clearing things up! This isn't what I was looking for but what I needed, what a wake-up call, it re-teaches me why I shouldn't let the stories I tell myself get to me... I fully take back everything I say now with this understanding and am very ashamed at how I treated it with such a childish temper and ignorance saying I'd spit at the face - so on... I was hoping to get that needle shot of LIFE back into me with the nostalgia of Skyrim from my youth before going back to work and when I didn't get that fix I behaved in such a way, that was my excuse.

P.S no need for an apology, I was being heavily toxic towards something they most likely love. Their reactions was expected and is understood
I do need to formally apologize to GOG though..

But I truly admire you through the character you've shown with your comment. Keep at it!

Kind Regards

FrodoBaggins: Try downloading the normal game installers from your account, rather than going through a client that's completey unnecessary.

PixelBoy: GOG has always had slower downloads speeds than Steam, but the whole point is that in an ideal case you only need to download the game once, and then keep it forever.

Obviously it's a bit more complicated with updates, but at least with good old games you can have them for years, and if you use third party applications like ScummVM and DOSbox, you only need some data files, not updated installers anymore, so downloading them once ever might be enough.

I have always considered slower downloads as a sort of acceptable price for DRM-freedom, but I can understand how some people might feel otherwise.

But like said, slower download is annoying only once, DRM is annoying forever.
Damn I can only guess, I just recently bough a refurbished laptop with 120gb of space so I had to delete some games like skyrim over time. Thanks for this though :)

Well, it needs to defend itself from unwarranted attacks. Though I do believe the boxing gloves would offer it better defence, and in a more comical way too, for any lucky onlookers...

Its people like you why I love the internet XD

FanboyPirater1: For sure is provocative but are you officially a staff/employ of GOG? if not this was not directed at you, so kindly fuck off, otherwise let me apologize directly.
Working for GOG or not has nothing to do with it. I don't need to work for them to say what I have to say, just like you didn't need to work for them to start screaming about bodily fluids and pyromania. I will most definitely not be off.

paladin181: Probably a DNS problem. My suggestion is to flush the DNS cache for starters, and run a trace route to see where the hold-up is.

@OP - It is a server issue I believe, likely due to where you live.

I have certainly had to put up with such slow speeds in the past for weeks on end, always during a big sale at GOG, but that is no excuse when it extends to not only all day, but days and even weeks.

It eventually came good for me and has been pretty good since. Last incident was last year or early this one. I can only presume they fixed the server or got another one or paid for more servers.

My regular and usually quite reliable connection, is 50 Megabit (roughly 5 MB/s a second, because you never get the full 50).

I kept complaining here at GOG, until it finally improved.

Ok, well, maybe you could try changing your location via VPN and see if that has an effect.
