0.1mb speed as usual download speed? really? when I restart the client after pausing - makes the whole download for the past 14 hours is just go poof? Waited 14 hours with moderate internet connection

Thank you mechmouse for being an outstanding member of this community, everyone else here is all good, negativity is responded with negativity. Ancient-Red-Dragon you're still on thin ice in my books boy, anyway I hope I can be an example set to why you shouldn't jump the gun like a fool.
[my special love note for only GOG staff and up]
If you're a GOG staff or further up and read this, please take my apology, I am so sorry for what I have said and feel so ashamed with a clearer head knowing no excuse or reason would have been okay to have let me to be so pathetic in my statement but instead I should have been mature, take it for a grain of salt I was just trying to childishly get back at something maliciously that I saw as a loss because of intentional disservice, which was not the case easily proven by mechmouse statement. It was just a simple error

It's just you. My downloads have been fine.

And maybe relax a little. You sound unhinged.

I'm going to tough it out with this paltry download speed.

Thread title is definitely not accurate.

I've been downloading some backups from GOG last night and today and I've been getting 25MB/s download speed for much of that time.

FanboyPirater1: P.S Buying the GOG Skyrim version initially will be a regret because how most mods will not support this version of milk the custies eld- I Mean Skyrim Anniv-SPECIAL edition...yes..
This is a semi-valid point, but not in the way how it is stated.

Skyrim on GOG is a bad buy not because it has the Anniversary Edition, but rather because it uses a GOG-specific build version which most mod makers are never going to bother to make GOG-specific versions of their mods for, thus leaving many/most important mods forever incompatible with the GOG version.

But even if you stated that point correctly, the validity of it would become sullied by way how how the OP is lumping it together with incorrect information about a non-existent 0.1 mbs download cap on GOG games.

No problem on my end, and I'm on an overloaded 4G LTE mobile tower with poor signal strength (semi-rural Australia).

It has to be a local problem, mate.

Well put together with the ever so popular toxic virtue signaling. Anyway, you got the point I do not need to put it in a bottle and feed it to you, semi or not. Others have had the same issue in the past, with the same solution as I've stated (usual restart of the GOG client or pause then un-pause). Like I have stated I have moderate internet, not the best but got it, other services are able to push up to 20 mbs max download speed(also if you have common sense as well, of course I do not download whilst watching a movie), so its seemingly a lack of push on GOG side. As you're doing; I'm downloading the back ups and its going well. Btw I deserve a reward for talking to you like this, the loose screws even in my ass does not do well with people like you. Everyone else here has my brownie points, not that they care, or I do - I just came here to complain like a woman over time and resources wasted. I only responded to you since you seem to be running off assumptions heavily with that toxic virtue signaling, god that gets on everyone's nerves yankow? no?

aye, what I'm in NZ we're suppose to be flying without wings compared to you, I'm in a rural area as well, must be the servers here or something. Makes me sad, oh well I'll just go kick a kangaroo

lol, I may have overreacted a little..
Try downloading the normal game installers from your account, rather than going through a client that's completey unnecessary.

https://www.gog.com/en/account
GOG has always had slower downloads speeds than Steam, but the whole point is that in an ideal case you only need to download the game once, and then keep it forever.

Obviously it's a bit more complicated with updates, but at least with good old games you can have them for years, and if you use third party applications like ScummVM and DOSbox, you only need some data files, not updated installers anymore, so downloading them once ever might be enough.

I have always considered slower downloads as a sort of acceptable price for DRM-freedom, but I can understand how some people might feel otherwise.

But like said, slower download is annoying only once, DRM is annoying forever.
Can long standing community member NOT shoot down new users when they have this issue!

While rare, Cripplingly Slow downloading IS an issue

It has appeared time and time again

So can you please STOP alienating those it happens to

Now its likely, given the vast majority of users have no issues with speed, that issue lies outside of GOG's direct control.

GOG doesn't have the same level of distributed Servers as Steam, nor does it have the same recognition, My initial response is to think its an ISP level issue, with GOG being flagged as a "low priority/high bandwidth" site and is being throttled.

While that's not GOG's fault its not the end user's either, and nor is it something they should distinguish. They're having an issue with this site and it needs to be resolved.

It would be nice if those that dismissed this user's issue apologised.

FanboyPirater1: Great service GOG really wish I bought through steam instead, and so should you fellow person. Esh... Skyrim will be my last ever purchase through this wanna be steam service.
With this experience I gladly only spit at GOG's face and hope it suffers greatly when it burns to the grown and is left forgotten like every other failure - I've calmed down and don't really mean this anymore, but pfft yeah.

I usually get 17-18 Mebibytes per second, that's good enough for me.
Probably a DNS problem. My suggestion is to flush the DNS cache for starters, and run a trace route to see where the hold-up is.
