elcook: Just wanted to drop by to say the request for GOG Galaxy to be optional till the end of days in the Community Wishlist is back. We hope we managed to retrieve most (if not all) votes and comments there.

GOG is not trustworthy.

elcook: Yeh, well. Thanks for support? :/
The actions of the company agree with the sentiment. Galaxy is creeping, and the fear of DRM creeps in with it. I would hope you can understand our side of things.

That vote already had more than 2000 votes in May 2016 and according to russellskanne had over 5500 votes by November 2017 and now you think that with 1583 votes you've "managed to retrieve most (if not all) votes"?

You're kidding, right?

edit: the forum software parses away the first part of the URL for the link to archive.org.
So I'll just put the full URL for the archive.org snapshot of the wish from May 2016 with 2181 votes here:

It surely took some time, but it's good to see that you finally managed to restore this wish. Thank you!

You guys should probably make it easier for fans to support you. The current model of "buy our stuff while we ignore you, let the site breakdown, and focus on things you users aren't interested in" isn't very conducive of a healthy relationship. You can only be years of potential until you're permanently friend zoned cause life goes on.

2181 votes on 5th May 2016 (the last time the page was captured by the internet archive). So unfortunately a lot of votes are missing.
Yeah something went wrong again. Shortly after elcooks post today the wish was back with >5500 votes. And now about 4000 votes are missing again...

I guess we should be happy it didn't return as "Be mandatory by the end of the day" :P
Hopefully those who previously voted for this entry, but whose votes are now lost, will be able to do so again (right, GOG?).

Turns out my vote was gobbled up as well. If any of you voted for this wish before, I'd recommend checking if your vote is still counted or not.
GOG partially fix the bug after 79 days, and eat up thousands of user votes.

No, the bug is not fully fixed yet.

Honestly, what's it matter? GOG knows what the votes were. It's feedback to gog, not to each other.
My vote was definitely not included, so I just added it again. I guess my old vote it's still part of the Galaxy for Linux one. :/

Well, when I posted this in the morning it was +5500 votes there (just like russellskanne mentioned) but then something happened and it changed to 1,5k. I asked guys to check what's up with that.

When I last checked, GOG was the only DRM-free digital distributor for PC. And we still release DRM-free games on a (almost) daily basis. And if you don't want to use GOG Galaxy, you don't have to. Just sayin'.

lulwhat!?

There's several other places that sell DRM free games.
As for the "don't want to use galaxy, you don't have to..." whilst I guess that is technically correct, games like Dying Light seasonal events have only been available via galaxy, despite the fact that they could've still been played offline.

Hardly "optional" now, is it...?

Wait, what are Itchio and (sometimes) Humble then? Not to mention other sites that I can't currently recall.
