It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

O.K. problem is back again. Firefox (40.0.3) keeps crashing while chat page is open (only tab which is open).

Crewdroog: sigh, now I wish I hadn't made this "solved", but i really thought we'd here from a blue by now. Yes, there is some stupid shit in the thread, but we are serious about this problem.

Hello? Anyone? At least say you read this and are aware of the problem gog. ?
Do you think GOG members don't read this because it is labeld as "solved"? If yes, perhaps a new thread should be opend.

i made a ticket and put this thread in the body. I say let's not clutter the forum with multiples of the same topic. Give them a few days and if I don't hear from them, we can make another one :) And I don't think any goggers know what to do, they are normally pretty on top of solving issues like this if the know how.
So now we have to wait.

yup, although the post i did put as "solved" does work. If you only have chat open and no other tabs, it doesn't crash. this is not a final solution obviously, but it's better than nothing.
On my end I can't reproduce this issue, Firefox 40.0 on Linux here. I tried a few combinations - opening the chat in same tab, new window, new tab. Chat still open as I wrote this.

Have you guys tried to disable all plugins / addons and retry? Or even better, rename the firefox profile folder so it creates a fresh one and open the chat page directly?

Someone said before he only get the crashes while using Firefox on Windows. No crash on Linux for him.

I will test safe mode of Firefox later again and see if this helps.

P.S.: It is really hard to find the useful information between the off-topic posts.

That's true, but it's actually much easier to milk them with your hands.

Ixamyakxim: Ah interesting I almost made this thread yesterday!

I had a few Firefox crashes when trying to type into chat. Pretty annoying! Eventually I had to copy / paste a note. Actually, followup question...

GoG log in eventually asked me to click a box proving I wasn't a robot whence I then had to select pictures of a pickup!

Did something nasty sneak in and steal / hijack my log in info, or was GoG just doing this because prior to I had to log into my account multiple times in quick succession due to the chat / browser crashes?

Does GoG normally require a user to do that if they log in too fast too often too many times?
IIRC, the captcha was introduced as a measure against spam-bots, apparently logging in too many times within a short timespan is considered a spam-bot action.

Ah okay thanks much for the response! I THOUGHT it was on the up and up, but having never seen it before and being a bit paranoid when it comes to credentials I thought I'd just ask!
gog got back to me, and I'm not very happy with the reply:

Hello,
Please try clearing your browser's cache, performing a clean refresh (Ctrl+R) of the page, and then logging out, and back in.
If you're using intrusive plugins, like JavaScript and ad blockers, please try disabling these, to see if they were causing the problem
If this doesn't help, please try using a different browser altogether and let me know if that helped.

That last bit made me quite annoyed and it looks like he/she didn't even notice that i'm not the only one with this problem.

That seems to be their standard answer whenever something is not working correctly. That is why I now always directly tell them that I already did all that stuff, since these are always the first things I check.

I had the crash problem again today... and that even with only the chat open and no other tab -.-

already did and done. when I saw that, what looked like an automatic reply, I was pretty mad. I put the link to the gog thread as well. sigh.

Edit: oh no, with only one tab open?? crap, it's getting worse!!! Run for your lives ;) but seriously, not good.

actually, I think i'm gonna open another thread for this. this one is all fucked up.

Same here - as long as i'm on Windows. And Ganni1987 also mentioned that he's not able to reproduce the issue on Linux.
None of those mentioned things can be the cause of the issue in that case the crashes should happen regardless of the OS, shouldn't it?

It might be Java issue though because Firefox on Linux uses an OpenJDK plugin rather than Java.

Nope. no java here.
