drealmer7: Ummm, what? I'm not focused on that. I'm focused on the people who were focused on that/using it as a point of discussion when I didn't think it should be. Now because of my focus on that, it has become a point of discussion. Wade through the mess, see the original of the confusion. Unless you're scum and trying to make my wagon roll, of course.
No one was focused on it or using it as a discussion until you did. dedoporno made a comment of not liking someone and you ran with it and have not stopped since. My point is that it's only causing WIFOM and not helping us to actually find the scum. It's funny you are now trying to say focusing on it is scummy yet you were the one to start the focus on it.
argh, misquotes, damnit, that almost never happens to me...grrrr

So dedoporno brought it up for fun then? It should have been completely ignored/disregarded and considered meaningless? I didn't "run with it", I stated why I had an issue with it, clearly and briefly, then that got picked on and so I had to respond. That's not me running with it, that's others using my issue with the issue to focus the issue on me rather than the issue I had. You find it funny? I'm trying to work out issues here to help in a murderous situation, and you find it funny...I don't understand how you can't understand my issue. YOU are usually the one with the issue of discussing PM info, yet, you readily shared yours after dedo did. Scum-tactics, methinks is possible, between the two of you.

Does anyone want to consider the possibility that this is an all-town game?

My issue is talking about PM info that is about anyone's role or using PM's to break the game, I have no issue talking about flavor. And as I've said all I think this "I don't like so and so" is flavor.

How could this be an all town game? It's clearly stated in the OP that there are two competing schools and our duty is to find the ones from LAMIST who killed JMich.

And what is the point of talking about flavor/mentioning flavor/bringing up flavor at all? Why did you do it? Why do you think dedo did it?
avatar
drealmer7: And what is the point of talking about flavor/mentioning flavor/bringing up flavor at all? Why did you do it? Why do you think dedo did it?
You keep adding flavor to your posts, saying how some don't have the intellect to be a professor here or that it's a good thing we didn't call the police because we need to figure this out ourselves. What's the point of saying any of that since it's all flavor?

I have no idea why dedo did it, ask him. All I'm saying is it doesn't matter. This is suppose to be a game of enjoyment, and the flavor helps to give it enjoyment. I find the whole concept amusing and feel it adds to the game, but making a stink out of it like you did gets us nowhere.
avatar
Dessimu: ...
avatar
drealmer7: WOW, that is filled with all sorts of scummy, HSL.
You quote my post, yet address HSL. So... Is it me or HSL that moved up your scum list?

avatar
drealmer7: Ahh, how I love to make a stir and see what rises to the top.
You sure do O_P

avatar
drealmer7: Indicates to me that you could be lying about your name, though I don't find that very likely at all.
Not lying. I couldn't really make it up so nicely. But I did present a possibility that scum may lie about their names.

avatar
drealmer7: However, if they do/did come out and identify themselves after I asked if they would, ...
Seems like Leonard came out. What do you make of that?

avatar
drealmer7: I tire of talking and no one listening and if they do they are just using it as a means to paint me in a bad light and twist things around...
You do understand that your talking, whether you are town or scum, is just way too easy to be misinterpreted, twisted and painted in bad light by other townies (since we are paranoid people, who don't know who is scum) and by scum (just because you present so much material in which it is easy to make unintentional mistakes)? Just don't get angry over that. If you are town, keep hunting scum.

avatar
drealmer7: Meaning: some people could have dislike information in their PM that is pure flavor and means nothing other than to add a layer of intigue to the game, BUT, others could have dislike info. in their PM that points to scum, obviously the town player does not know that it is pointing them to scum, and to them it is essentially flavor, but I think it remains a high possibility that some people are pointed to scum, while others are pointed to pettiness.
This sentence is way too long. But the idea is absolutely correct. Which in turn... Means we should not rely on those dislikes when voting. For we all may be given different person to dislike.

avatar
drealmer7: I think it could be related to intellect level, some teachers here are obviously smarter than others.
Sounds cocky. And it is not a first time from you. Makes you less likable and thus, your opinion less valued. Lets keep such ideas to ourselves and treat everyone with a degree of respect. When we find lady killers, we may... Oooooh, they should wish they never stepped in this Institute.

avatar
drealmer7: We need to decide, are we going to make the name-stuff be what we vote around, or are we going to try and figure something else out to figure out who is likely to be most scummy? I want to know everyone's thoughts here. If we vote for name-stuff, my vote stays on dedo. If not, I'm curious as to what other avenue of voting we could/should take.
Sorry, I fail to understand what you ask here. If I get it right, you ask "Do we place our votes now based on flavor-names and dislikes?" and then you ask "If not, then what do we base our votes on?". Right? Is that what you mean? If so, I would not base votes on the "flavor name stuff". By the way, I think dedo is town (judging by his name stuff and the way of my PM). What to base votes on now? Hmm... Gut feeling? Logic of reasoning? But not on "name stuff".
avatar
drealmer7: Ahh, how I love to make a stir and see what rises to the top.
Of course you do! Good job, too!

avatar
drealmer7: @dedo #114 just seems all sorts of antagonistic with no purpose
I'm not as good at the game as others so I have to count on lesser tactics and hope for the best.

avatar
drealmer7: You're confusing intent with effect.

...

How are you a professor if you can't even read words accurately? COULD, not DO.

...

Because if everyone has the name of someone, then that just happens by default that some people have scum names as their dislike.
Good stuff right here. I thought you weren't making yourself favors and it turns out it was all carefully planned master play.

avatar
drealmer7: I asked if they would to see if they would, not to find out who they are (that would have been a bi-product, obviously, but not my intent when asking the question.) My guess is that they wouldn't, and they haven't. It was more of a rhetorical thing. However, if they do/did come out and identify themselves after I asked if they would, I would find it more possible that my read on dedo's behavior would have become more irrelevant, but that is not what has happened.
I'm starting to get it now. Why didn't I thought of this?!

avatar
drealmer7: Meaning: some people could have dislike information in their PM that is pure flavor and means nothing other than to add a layer of intigue to the game, BUT, others could have dislike info. in their PM that points to scum, obviously the town player does not know that it is pointing them to scum, and to them it is essentially flavor, but I think it remains a high possibility that some people are pointed to scum, while others are pointed to pettiness.
You already said this earlier yourself. If everyone indeed doesn't like another person (and there aren't duplicates) it's basically given that some people will hate scum. Do you honestly believe this bears any usable weight by itself?

avatar
drealmer7: Agreed, hence my vote on dedoporno, it was just scummy distracting behavior with no ability to have the revealing of the dislike mean anything solid.
The flavor itself doesn't mean too much on it's own. But I feel the related discussion provided some interesting results.

avatar
drealmer7: Why do you care about people's names and dislikes? Fishy.
You do. Why wouldn't Leonard?

avatar
drealmer7: So dedoporno brought it up for fun then?
It wasn't just for fun.

avatar
drealmer7: Does anyone want to consider the possibility that this is an all-town game?
Not really.
While thinking of vote-worthy ladies, I feel comfortable for voting Leonard or flubbucket. Leo - based on some funny gut feeling. Flubbucket is as flub, as he gets. He always looks scummy to me. Especially now that she (flavor gender) is more interested in touching herself than scum hunting.

Vote flubbucket

HypersomniacLive is too smart to be town. He must be scum. Idea not confirmed.
Krypsyn is... Well... Krypsyn.
Too early to lynch drealmer. There is a big fuss, too easy to miss-lynch.
Trentonlf is strange. I like trentonlf. No, I did not sleep with her. She is fun. Can we keep trent in the game?

No ideas about others.

drealmer7: Contradictory much?
Well considering how much of a hullabaloo has been made over it, may as well have everyone share their info.

avatar
drealmer7: Confusing the situation much by interchanging player name with character name?
Ummm, no? I never said a character name in my post.

I don't really. See above.

I find all of your counter logic to be moot because you disregard the possibility that meaningful information is hidden within the flavor. Meaning: some people could have dislike information in their PM that is pure flavor and means nothing other than to add a layer of intigue to the game, BUT, others could have dislike info. in their PM that points to scum, [...]
I disregard it because it becomes "meaningful" after the fact someone flips Mafia, and even then it' doesn't really add anything. It can't be used in a meaningful way in terms of scum-hunting, imho.
If everyone has someone unique to dislike, and it looks like this is the case (I dislike someone), then it's inevitable that some will have the role-names of the Mafia, and any third-parties that may exist, in their PMs. Something you said yourself while replying to flubbucket. But somehow it has some extra meaning and weight in this case before anyone dies?

yogsloth's big on flavour, also hates sitting on our thumbs. especially on D1; I'm surprised you don't consider the possibility he added that bit to keep the game-thread alive during D1, and get himself a few extra kicks and giggles out of it.
Looking at this discussion, I'd say his idea was brilliant and a big success.

[emphasis added]

avatar
drealmer7: [...]

I believe it could be sensible to share that information once the person has died. PlayerD dies, they flip NameName. PlayerB comes out and says "I didn't like NameName." [...] Had dedoporno waited until someone was dead and had that person in their PM, it would have made sense to say "hey, I didn't like them", doing it in the reverse only causes confusion/distraction.

[...]
Except that this is not what you were going on about till now (posts #51, 102, and 111).
