adaliabooks: And I see the thread has died completely, midweek too which is unusual as I seem to remember that it's usually busiest then...
Things are not looking good...
Not that I complain. Mid-week is when classes are the bussiest as well.

Can we all just transition being more active during the weekend? Maybe?
avatar
BlueMooner: So I'll throw this to the group. Do you want me to stop?

I'm the kind of person that says "please" and "thank you" all the time. However, if people think I'm trying to brownnose, or butter everyone up, then say so and I'll stop.
Well, you addressed a question to me, yet you attributed the reaction of the whole group as justification for reacting to a positive answer.

In any case. It's your first game, so now at least you know that this is also a mechanic that can be used in the game. Whether you continue doing what you do or not is up to you.

avatar
BlueMooner: Yes, I think it's suspicious.
That's just you.

avatar
BlueMooner: Agent was dissecting Yog's posts and looking at factors like him starting all his posts with "So", and his capitalization
mistake. I've spent too many years online and seen too many typos to even begin to think that's some sort of super secret coded message on Yog's part. However as Flub pointed out, it's a different story to miss a name altogether, especially when he explained he was making a list of players and grouping them based on suspicion, and MOST especially after claiming to be cop.
Typos, capitalization, the excessive use of a word and what not, in my experience none of these ever led to catching scum. I think that's a next level nitpicking. As for missing a name, shouldn't you be more vehement of questioning him? So far I barely see you and him interact. Since when do you solve for x and when question is about y?

avatar
BlueMooner: His "oopsy" explanation does not sit well with me.
Then how come you're doing nada about it and this is the first time you mention this after all this RL time since that post came to be?

avatar
BlueMooner: While I don't care about typos, I do care about missing names and it does make me wonder if Yog was "saying" something by not including you. Now it's possible that you didn't think it was a big deal and just thought Yog messed up, but I don't know that that's actually the case... I'm not you. I have the slightest sense that you didn't say anything because maybe you didn't want to draw attention to yourself, hoping everyone would overlook it. Which to me, is suspicious. Why hide, unless you're hiding something.
Oh my god. GG WP. MVP award stuff right here./endsarcasm I like how you think everybody is brutally honest about everything they know and I'm the only one *scary music with a pause* hiding something. Sounds like an 80's detective movie.

Do I really have to explain again why not everyone can share everything they know on day 1?

avatar
BlueMooner: Isn't it called scumhunting? Why are you defensive about roles, when I never asked about them?
Nah, it's called info fishing, and smells like role fishing to me. If "What are you hiding?" is scum hunting to you, then this game has turned into a B rated Dolph Lundgren movie where he always saves the day.

avatar
BlueMooner: I didn't argue for a no-lynch, I ASKED about it, since I'm still learning game theory.
You also explained why you are considering it. When you ask a question, you don't usually also engage in an argument by detailing the benefits you think are there for such an action. You ask a question, then argument if need be. You study Socrates long enough and you begin to see patterns in people's behavior that are meant to shift stance.

avatar
BlueMooner: On a personal note, I got the sense that my posts upset you. Your responses seemed irritated with me.
It's a game. Just sit back and enjoy. As Sage has noted, reactions can be faked. As I will tell you, the probability of reading someone's feelings through text is pretty low. And your read may be attributed to the fact that I'm dissecting your posts, as opposed to the early day 1 responses of usually 1 sentence.

avatar
BlueMooner: I don't know why, since I thought it was clear from the context and tone of my post that I was 1) being playful, and 2) trying to stir the pot to get players more actively engaged and initiate some banter. Didn't you yourself comment on that?
Read above.

avatar
BlueMooner: I care about people's feelings, which is partly why I try to be nice to everybody. You don't seem to be that type. Normally I'd apologize here if I had accidentally upset you, but since you think I'm kissing-up to people, I won't.
Touche. But not in the least surprised. Especially since I don't even think you know about the argument of last game.

avatar
BlueMooner: It also occurs to me that IF you were trying to stay under the radar and not mention yourself because you're mafia, and then someone questioned you on it, a strong response might be a common tactic to try to fend me off, thinking I'll back down. The fact that you jumped IMMEDIATELY to a vote on me, simply for throwing out wild statements at people which were MEANT to be provocative but not serious (Hyper and CS didn't so much as blink), seems defensive and suspicious. Suspicious enough to vote.

Vote Hijack
And people wonder why I never really cut slack to new players.

avatar
flubbucket: Try not to take HijacK's commentary personal.
Ikr?

avatar
RWarehall: Well if you mean AgentCarr16 fingering or attempting to finger Adaliabooks
*pukes*
Caught up with reading. Nothing really popped up, but I have been known to miss things.

Trent, Lift, adalia and HijacK do seem to be acting like their usual selves, though adalia's random.org voting does seem quite peculiar. Yes, I know that happened quite some time back, and yes, people have commented on it. Not sure if it is reason enough to vote for adalia yet, but if I decided to follow trent's advice, I would be voting for adalia.
avatar
JMich: Trent, Lift, adalia and HijacK do seem to be acting like their usual selves.
Ridiculous! I shall go back to acting like you beginning with next day.

Is something stopping you? I'm asking because I have been considering the same for some time now. I actually was going to vote for Lift but he retracted his vote and that made me rethink. Books is the next best thing for me but not that good to make me vote right away.
avatar
HijacK: Ridiculous! I shall go back to acting like you beginning with next day.
Nah, better go back to acting like you did last game. That would indeed help me decide.

avatar
dedoporno: Is something stopping you? {snip} Books is the next best thing for me but not that good to make me vote right away.
Probably same reason you are not voting yet. Lack of certainty.
avatar
JMich: Nah, better go back to acting like you did last game. That would indeed help me decide.
Pls. Most people thought I was acting like you, which is ridiculous to say the least, but this is how I call it now: "Acting like JMich".

I am not sure if this makes me want to go back and read that game, or if it makes me want to avoid doing so. Sort of like a train wreck, you know? Do I gawk and possibly give myself nightmares, or do I just continue on in blissful ignorance?

Krypsyn: I am not sure if this makes me want to go back and read that game, or if it makes me want to avoid doing so. Sort of like a train wreck, you know? Do I gawk and possibly give myself nightmares, or do I just continue on in blissful ignorance?
I thought it was a very fun game (loved the flavour) but then again I haven't read any other yet, so what do I know... (SPOILER!: Incidently the first vote in there was for scum from a cop "...because of reasons I have" :D blows my mind really... oh, well rvs it was)
Concerning Hijacks acting I find it vastly different this game, which is why I thought in the beginning "ahh, this is what town Hijack sounds like" but now I came to realize it's already a wifom situation, because Hijack knows that very well himself :) so nothing to be learned from that I guess...
avatar
HijacK: And how is my explanation of what he said any different? I already mentioned he corrected himself as to what power role he was talking about, but in his mistake he actually made sense.

I did not say he suggested it, just that it actually made sense.

I don't understand. Is there a restriction for scum not to claim such a role? Albeit it's not really efficient in the case we are presented with, but this could be indeed a potential play.
A Mafia Role Cop pretending to be a Town Role Cop so he could do A is the same as a Mafia Role Cop pretending to be a Town Cop so he could do B...
He made sense in something he didn't suggest...

You quite often come across as (enjoying) arguing for the sake of arguing. I’m out, we’ve bored Krypsyn enough already. But here, have the last word.

agentcarr16: Did you intend to agree with Sage's assessment of my argument, or my argument as a whole?

[...]
Your argument #1 in general stands, not sure what you mean with "as a whole".

How about everyone places a vote on who they find the most suspicious?! [...]!
I should vote you for putting words in my mouth! ;-P

Enter at your own risk. :P
avatar
agentcarr16: i.e. FoS adaliabooks because you don't seem to be acting normally, and its making me suspicious.
avatar
adaliabooks: You think I ever act normally? You clearly don't know me well enough yet... ;)
It's true. I don't.

However, at present, you are the most suspicious person, by like 0.5%.

avatar
flubbucket: I'm not liking this exchange. It smells a bit contrived/crafted.
Well, it's not.

avatar
BlueMooner: So I'm Starting a Party, or Stirring a Pot. (settle down agent, that doesn't mean anything).
GAAAAHHH!!! Look at that!!! BlueMooner is capitalizing random words! He and yogsloth must be on a TEAM!!! *gasps for breath* Now I've just got to figure out their code!!! And then I'll, etc.

avatar
Lifthrasil: And in other games or groups, FoS is seen as a scum-tell, since it has been abused by scum too often. It isn't especially useful to town, but it allows scum to appear at odds with a scumbuddy without risking to accidentally bus him or her. So more often than not someone using a Finger of Suspicion will be scum.
Yeah, I only brought it up because BlueMooner posted "Pressure CSPVG", which is basically what FoS was supposed to be for. I don't really think it's worth much. unFoS adaliabooks :)

avatar
RWarehall: <snip>
*facepalm*

There was a little voice in the back of my mind saying that bringing this up was a bad idea, but I ignored it. Foolish me.

avatar
HijacK: Not that I complain. Mid-week is when classes are the bussiest as well.

Can we all just transition being more active during the weekend? Maybe?
Yeah, can we? Like, Please?!?

avatar
HypersomniacLive: Your argument #1 in general stands, not sure what you mean with "as a whole".
Sorry, it was because you had attributed it to Sage, so I was wondering. It's for my self-esteem :)

In other news, I'm working on getting my new laptop set up so, starting tomorrow, I may be able to post something meaningful during the day. Only it won't happen tomorrow, because I have 4 classes back-to-back, so never mind. Maybe Monday, though.
avatar
agentcarr16: However, at present, you are the most suspicious person, by like 0.5%.
That isn't even within two standard deviations of a normal distribution. Are you saying he isn't normal? Are you?!

Or are you saying he isn't distributed? Because that is an easier, less subjective, argument.

I take no stand either way; left, right, forward, back, up, or down. Mainly because I can never figure out which way the coder decided to make the z-axis... (it usually isn't left/right, but you can never be sure...)
