Hey all! Unfortunately, the update will come at a later date. The silver lining here is that it may contain additional bug fixes. Our apologies for that inconvenience.

Idealism is infectious and catchy, maybe not post every idea the board comes up with, until they measure the task in time & cost. I love their attitude, but they can save a lot of pain to themselves by not publishing wild statements before thinking.

Any and all performance optimizations will be greatly appreciated.

Tenebrous Wolf: I hope they NEVER update to the Next Gen version. I paid for it again on GoG (on sale cheap, granted) just because it didn't. The NextGen version breaks so many things including the core physics of the game to the point you need mods just to make it actually playable. Not to mention it really messes up trying to run in a Borderless Window mode among MANY, MANY other issues.
Or... you could just choose to not install the next gen update?
Anyone else got to the point where when you see a new post was made in this thread you very
sarcastically think "yay it's finally here" :)

Memecchi: At this point I'm more annoyed at GOG than Bethesda for this weird silence on a pinned thread
No, you need to be annoyed at Bethesda.

king_kunat and the GOG staff are doing their best to pull whatever they can out of Bethesda. Bethesda is the one that is saying "Nope" with radio silence. There is nothing much king_kunat can update us on until Bethesda does something. And Bethesda probably won't do anything until they "shadow drop" it after the 2nd season of Fallout becomes a hit again.
Have to admit, sometimes I got a funny thought the situation being the other way round.

Bethesda has already submitted the update to GoG several times, but GoGs quality control is rejecting it every single time because it is Bethesda Quality.
:D

Bethesda games are meant to be fixed by mods...;)

That was around the time of Oblivion.
Today I would say Bethesda games are meant to be completed by mods...

Back then, buggy mess with bad translation.
Today, broken and incomplete mess.
I can't understand how they are able to create such shitty games they do now, with that manpower and that amount of money thrown at them.
But if they go on that way, they will go the path of the Dodo. MS seems to be not that happy about their last game sales...

Nepotism and pitching the wrong ideas, everyone and their mom knew that having "over 1,000 planets" in Starfield could only lead to barren, uninteresting maps, or that Fallout without NPC isn't Fallout... but you can't tell that to the high ups :D

I would say things went south the moment they got rid of actual writers for their stuff but introduced the dev who is a writer too, so every dev writes the story and chars for his own quests to his own liking.
So, there is no head writer who is holding everything together.

Granted, today there are a hell of writers on the marked who are just shit, even more for games, because streaming services vacuuming up the guys who would have been just good enough for games in the past.
But a good (team) of writers can do a lot of things to games.
And missing them leads to some kind of not interconnected narative clusterfuck the Bethesda games are now for decades.

@king_kunat Could you please update us on the status, regardless of whether there's something new to share or not. I understand that we might have to wait some more, but it would be great to hear that GOG hasn't simply buried the topic completely.

Because pretty much the whole modding community has moved to the nextgen version as a base for their mods, it's now basically impossible to mod the version sold by GOG, and that's frankly sad.

I'm very sorry that all of this is taking so long. It was never planned to look like that. That said, the topic is not abandoned, and we want to get the update in Q3.

Thank you and heres hoping that the Next gen update when it comes can be a separate/optional update scenario it makes it easier to use fallout London when desire rather then any extra steps

And hopefully the Next gen update hasn't been too much trouble nor will be too much for you gog employees

Please also tell Bethesda to fix the broken Skyrim version on GOG. It has a memory leak and keeps crashing.

Yep.

I chatted with support about this, but their only "solution" was to use Galaxy to rollback to a previous version, which doesn't really work as that breaks compatibility with many mods, including critical bugfix mods. Not to mention, telling us to use Galaxy kinda defeats the purpose of DRM-free.

GOG still not having the latest version of Fallout 4 presents a similar problem with mods.
