Hey all! Unfortunately, the update will come at a later date. The silver lining here is that it may contain additional bug fixes. Our apologies for that inconvenience.

hotrods20: April 25, 2024. Then we can celebrate one-year without Next-Gen on GOG. Sad because I really enjoy Fallout 4 and would love to get back into it.
According to most people (including me ;) "classic" Fallout 4 is the best Fallout 4 experience. So maybe this is the right time to get back into it :)

Yeah, just not a fan of how some mods require the next-gen patch. Regardless, I'll start working on my modlist and wait for the inevitable.
I would like to take time to learn how to write F4SE mods with CommonLibF4, so I could re-implement some Papyrus-written mods to be version portable between oldgen and nextgen while being safe to install/uninstall midsave.

There are so many interesting mods that keep popping up often in Nexus, that they're tempting to install but at the risk of breaking a playthrough by causing some instability somewhere in the game eventually. It's so frustrating the way Bethesda designs their games' save files because they're so easily corruptible. It discourages players from experimenting with new mods, which is contrarian to their philosophy of experimenting with different playstyles and builds in a sandbox RPG.

How is this
a) still stickied
b) still not resolved
after a year?
Has the update been abandoned?

It seems like it. I guess Bethesda is not longer interested in updating this game on GOG.

At the other hand - This "old" version is the only one that is capable of running the Fallout London expansion. The people with the updated version (like on Steam) have to roll back to this present GOG version to run the expansion.

So - It's a good question if we are really benefiting from a updated version, if we have to roll back anyway to play Fallout London. So yeah...

It's been a year. Any news? :(
Add another inquiring mind regarding an update on the upgrade.
I hope they NEVER update to the Next Gen version. I paid for it again on GoG (on sale cheap, granted) just because it didn't. The NextGen version breaks so many things including the core physics of the game to the point you need mods just to make it actually playable. Not to mention it really messes up trying to run in a Borderless Window mode among MANY, MANY other issues.

I only care for Fullscreen mode, but if it's a menace, no shame on GoG for abandoning it.
Re-doing the Fallout 4 engine & textures is beyond GoG's payday.
Just put out a former announcement that "On Second Thought Forget About It !" ;-)

That'd be a double edged swords given they had announced they was bringing it here.. I am not sure if you are aware the mess that happened when something similar happened to this with I am sure it was one of the Quake games where Gog said they was getting the newest updated version at the time and do to it taking so long there was a massive backlash and such.. And when Gog staff was sorta implied it might not be happen when many posters who was saying it'd be fine not to bring it here given the varies issues the new version had these same posters and others then did a 360 getting upset over the fact the very thing they said would be okay might come true.. granted the new version of the game came in time but its a good example of a ''damned if you do.. damned if you don't'' among other things

Granted I mostly don't care full on if it doesn't come here as I barely have modded fallout 4 aside from adding in more music( I love more music to listen to in game )and given Fallout Londan and painless to get running.. its great and that mod is apparently getting what amounts to DLCs for it So I would be happy if Falloiut 4s next gen update doesn't show up..or atleast is like a seperate channel sort of thing like how some other games handled specific matters here

Even still though I would still be a tiny bit annoyed the Next Gen update would not be a thing just because Gog said we'd be getting it

That's what rollback is for, for light modded playthroughs the old gen version is serviceable, but the moment you want to install a modlist yeah it's a pain (if not impossible) without the next gen update

At this point I'm more annoyed at GOG than Bethesda for this weird silence on a pinned thread

I am aware of that feature .. the main flaw in it though is after so many updates then one can't get a specific version to rollback to.. And before you or another say it''thats why one has offline installers '' Yes but there will be people in varies cases that come along after some versions are not longer accessible that are in ways better then the newer ones for one reason or another.. That or has support for things the newer game version hasn't anymore ...Thus why I mentioned a ''separate channel option or something'' here because of stuff like that..

And ya I am while annoyed at both I am annoyed more at Gog here .. because they mentioned it before having everything for sure arranged and then had to backpedal but has been silence sense then
