Oh, it's perfectly fine to held any belief, especially if you want to be ridiculed for it. But I am not going to judge one for one's belief, but for certainty one has in them. And having absolute conviction in most things is usually not a sign of wisdom or knowledge.

90% of people are morons, so I wouldn't take anyone's opinion without a grain of salt. Especially if they are connected to politics and/or government.

And since we are talking about aliens... well, given the vastness of space (at least if you aren't a flat Earther) it's highly probable that they exists. Did they come here or not, I don't know. I would be more interested in knowing why would they even come here in the first place.

Taking some post here in account, If I were an Alien I would not be interested at all in contact with us. In fact I would travel to the the next Galaxy for the good. :D

You can find patterns for anything everywhere, if you are looking hard enough for them. But the point is: They may be there, but they are not intentional.They are a result, not a cause. Trying to find them is just how our brain works.

The most amazing thing about the big pyramids is not their construction (the tunnels inside to bring stones to the top have been discovered years ago), but the immense logistics behind it. Transporting stones all over Egypt, building canals so boats can be used, feeding thousands of workers over decades, medical support and avoiding epidemics with so many people living so close together.
Getting a few angles right? Aligning something with the sun? That's basic stuff, with just an optical tool you can have very high precision. With 2 sticks and a rope you can construct most geometrical figures. And they were not limited to that.

Indeed it has to do a lot with beliefs of the ancestors. And their religions. I wouldn't say it was more important than the religion a century ago, or less. It just means that the most durable buildings were tombs or temples. The rest is dust.

Imagine Extraterrestrials coming down to a little town a throusand years in the future to discover that he only recognizable building is a church.

Anyway there is one thing I always was surprised by. When some tombs or ruins are discovered and we are aware that they are aligned to something in the sky, some people think about the ET tphone or a message to the aliens. But never think about subsistence of societies or agriculture tself.

Nowadays we are very happy with our calendars and do not see the importance of taming the seasons or when to farm. Because we consider that the harvest time and amount of food is edicted by a supermarket.

Yeah, that's another problem. We often can only find temples and castles or rich people's villas. The materials common people used to build are all rotten and gone. So it's very difficult for archeologist to recreate an accurate image of the past.
Sometimes they get lucky and find a city that was covered in an instant unter a volcano's ashes like Pompeii and Whats-Its-Name in Middle America, but usually they have to do a lot of guessing.
