TrevorWilliams: I've been getting into digital comics lately .......
Luv ur work but just discovered that DarkHorse is like Comixology, can't be read offline. Think I'll stick to my hard copy books for now :)

Some Comixology titles (Image, Valiant, some other publishers) can be downloaded as CBZ, PDF files.

That's new, when did they change? Must admit I stopped reading the emails they send since I had no intention of buying and having to read online. I use ComicRack so CBZ files suits me fine, might have to check it out.

However I did just slip over and read DarkHorse FAQ which states the comics are read "online", which I avoid, better to simply purchase a hard copy for the same price elsewhere.

It's a change made mainly by some publishers, not Comixology itself. As far as I know, Amazon is not opposite to sell things without DRM when the publishers want it.

The first wave was in July and there was a second one in September.

Another great source of DRM-Free comics are the Humble Book bundles focused in comics (There's a My Little Pony one right now). Look for the word bundle in this thread and you'll find several examples. New ones are posted here if you want to keep track of things.

Yeah, I know about Humble ..... though My little Pony isn't quite the mature reading I'm after ....... at least I hope it hasn't gone that way :D
Manga sale at Dark Horse this weekend(?); 43 titles including lots of Trigun and Hellsing.

New sale on a book from Matt Wagner and Simon Bisley! How'd I miss this book the last couple years?
The Tower Chronicles sale from Legendary ends 12/08/14, the four ~75 page volumes for ~$2.99 each and a collection for $9.99.

??? I read all my Dark Horse and Comixology books offline.

TrevorWilliams: ??? I read all my Dark Horse and Comixology books offline.
I've not tried for more than 1/2 a year but I've got a heap of comics with Comixology, and had a few with Darkhorse, always had to read online. Comixology even had the reasons in their FAQ as to why it had to be read online, and Dark Horse (was just reading) only make mention of "online" reading - also when I check out my library I only have an option to "read" online.

I can only assume these are new changes made in the last year or so, I'll have to brush the dust off my accounts and check them out. I love Bisley :)

Using an iPad or Android app?

For Comixology I can download any of my books on either ipad or android for offline reading.

I think it's the same for Dark Horse, but I only use the ios app.
I can confirm Dark Horse works offline (airplane mode) on Android, as does Comixology. Dark Horse really needs to uldate their FAQ, I noticed how
how misleading it was.

Curiously I do not think any digital comic services require online only access, even Marvel Unlimited's susbscription based library lets yoh download 12 books at a time for offline.

I thought so. PC users reading on the browser don't get offline access.

And do you guys use "offline" on non-smart devices (e.g. PC)? Even Googles movie service lets a person download & watch "offline", but only as long as they are using a smart device. It's the DRM.

Today's Marvel Monday is on some more Uncanny X-Men, issues 200-243 at $.99 per. This was all Claremont and Silvestri, and wasn't the greatest period of X-Men iirc.

I haven't, but it looks interesting. Pity there's no full free issue to read, or a smaller starter bundle. $25 is a bit much to spend on an unknown.

I'm tempted to buy Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1: Cosmic Avengers for $4.
The Marvel collections on sale have cycled.
