shaddim: And also no remarks about a non-steam release...seems I must nag them about it... ;P
There's this:

Does NOWHERE support modding?

NOWHERE was designed from the grounds up to allow near painless modding. The game is largely written in Python, with performance-critical parts re-implemented in C; although not in the public domain, the game runs directly from its editable source code. Game assets can easily be swapped/extended.
Even if people won't be able to buy it outaside of Steam, open source leaves DRM-free in the dust. Now, I don't actually trust their other claims about the game, but their DRM stance is undiluted awesome.

[s]It seems not to be open source, it's could be meant source available. And that the license is not well defined as "non-PD", I find also irritating.[/s] They don't specify clearly their distribution structure now and in future. While the crowdfunding seems to be organized via Humble store, they offering steam keys (in future? exclusively? now?) ...irritating. As the Alpha seems to run already some time... a user feedback forum would be nice, where also new backers could get a impression how people perceive the game... missing at the moment.

Edit: It is open source! They responded in the FAQ now: engine (called "Beige") is released under the liberal MIT license (using libs under other licenses). Source code already here: https://bitbucket.org/duangle Assets are proprietary, fair enough.
Edit2: And I got a funny Email response regarding DRM:they told me, DRM-freeness is natural part of a acceptable business behaviour, therefore not explicitely stated in the FAQs. Like food producers don't write on milk packages "Not poisoned" ;)

Heh. Food producers don't write "not poisoned" because we don't rely on the invisible hand of the free market to punish strychnine pushers with a decline in sales, having legislation and authorities who enforce it instead. With games, none of that happens. DRM-free is seriously the equivalent of "not poisoned" in a libertarian paradise where some of the food on the market is cardboard soaked in waste engine oil. Until and unless Rick Falkvinge becomes president of the world and makes DRM illegal, DRM-freeness has to be stated explicitly.

Thanks for sharing your sharp thoughts... that your profile states that you come from the "Russian federation" give that thing a additional twist. I think a former authority of yours was well know using strychnine... ;)

He bro, cool down, this was meant as historical joke... as in history... it's over and we can look on it with distance. Sorry if that was come over wrong. ;P (Shit: rule one of the internet violated, don't try to make jokes over limited communication media.)

addon:
there is in fact some irony in me talking about food safety: namely, that the FDA analogue in Russia is almost solely a tool of political oppression. We call it punitive sanitation (sarcastically, of course; the government claims politics and import bans don't even correlate, which of course they do).
Did your country legalize gay marriage? OMG your meat has gay cooties, ban it!
Were patients in a hospital or toddlers in a kindergarten poisoned via food (supplied by a private producer under an embezzlement-enabling contract, and unsuitable for consumption even if sans e.coli)? Why, sounds like an excuse for a gang of neo-Nazis to assault Southerners at the market! And let's award those neo-Nazis $160k in presidential grant money for their efforts in consumer protection!
(A native citizen of Russia raped a girl? Lock up the Vietnamese migrants in concentration camps! - not food-related, but same logic)

(I have shaddim's racist ass on ignore, so I don't know what they posted immediately above)
A RPG from a team of modders of Bethesda games:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/594743529/unwritten-echoes-of-twilight

The project is interesting, but sadly they started the campaign with some mistakes, hope they fix this soon before they will be prejudiced

This is one of the mistakes (lots of problems with the tiers)
I just saw this again. It's old but still makes me grin.

And no kickstarter video*. And everyone is white. Not gonna happen.

*inb4 "I don't watch videos": neither do I, but time and again kickstarter staff claims a video correlates to a 20% higher probability of funding.

I always watch the video. I've never pledged to a project that doesn't have one.

This one is pretty much an example of what not to do when it comes to Kickstarter imo.

I really like RPGs but I'm not going to pay $30 for something that is barely more than an idea at this point, by people who have no actual experience in making games.

I rarely watch videos either, but I think having one is important and shows that some work has already been done, at least.

I couldn't agree more. Heck, I've seen smaller projects (in terms of budget mainly) provide a much more refined and professional presentation for potential backers. You'll have to invest a bit more time if you want me to believe in your game than just saying: "Look we modded Oblivion for a while, we're cool."

That and half a million is huuuuuge.
