The DRM-free initiative.

We've always been on a mission to offer you games with no DRM protection whatsoever. Today, we want to start taking things a step further, help out people who bought a retail game with DRM, then ended up stuck with something rather unplayable. We can help you enjoy your favorites once again, and this time around, enjoy them DRM-free!

There are countless retail games out there that don’t work for various reasons: unsupported types of DRM, system incompatibilities, broken features. There's too many too count. Starting today, owners of several retail titles originally sold with DRM can get a digital copy of their game completely free at GOG.com: with no DRM as always, compatible with modern operating systems, and with plenty of goodies to boot.
<span class="bold">Reclaim these games, DRM-FREE:</span>

Editions released worldwide:
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

Editions released only in CIS & Russian territories:
-Mount & Blade: Warband
-Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword
-Eador: Genesis

To reclaim your game, just use one of the keys that came with your box. You can find more detailed information on the Reclaim your games, DRM-FREE! page to see if your key is compatible and just where to go from there.

This is just the start of something much bigger. We plan to add more titles to the list in the future - it's a long and complicated process that involves negotiating with multiple parties and a scavenger hunt to retrieve forgotten key-databases - but then, we are on a mission here, we'll do whatever it takes.

A big thank you for GOG!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series added. The keys worked in the first attempt.

What a pleasure to obtain a DRM free digital version of our loved retail game!

Thank you for the job.
Good luck to increase the number of games.
Meh, i'll wait for (a possible) update to the keys database and put my stalker collection here, meanwhile, would it be moraly wrong to give my key from the box version of SoC (i already have the game on Steam, so i have 2 versions of the game)?
I also used my box key for Clear Sky. Never really installed it after i heard it had so many bugs, but I figure GOG's version is up to date and will have... at least less bugs than the original. I figure I can I install the Clear Sky complete mod over the GOG version without a hitch?

Wurzelkraft: I asked support about the ShoC key but despite my clear statements I just got a "Steam keys don't work; please try it again; make sure you don't confuse O and 0" answer. I even sent the key (from the registry, so there are NO typos) in the mail, which has the correct format and is from the game's multiplayer menu. Really, GOG?

Firek: Please keep in mind that only keys from retail copies are supposed to work. That being said, we will do our best to keep updating our list of compatible codes, so please check back in the future to see if your code can be used.
Unfortunately there is no way for us to add a game manually on a per-case basis. If the code doesn't work, we're unable to help - unless we secure a previously-unknown batch of codes and add it to the system.
Ok, so until you don't add those codes there's nothing more to do, at least this is a good answer, thanks by the way. But it still remains isn't right that many people have used stolen codes from the internet to get the game totally free and we, who have paid, can't do anything about it, pirates and thieves win again.
Wow! I didn't see this one coming. This is amazing. +1, GOG!
So question - When will we be able to redeem our Keys for Mount and Blade warband and its DLC respectively?

I am from the states and I am having problems doing so :(

JudasIscariot: Oh you thought this was big? How cute :D We've got even bigger things coming :)

(Don't get me wrong I think it's awesome we have this retail redemption thing going on I am just much more excited about another big thing coming up one of these days because of our 1000th game :D )
FTFY

Only three more... So sometime next week? Tuesday, maybe Thursday?
Hi,

I would like to know if it will be possible to reclaim our games bought on Steam ?

For example, i bought on Steam "Age of Wonders III" on Steam because there is an Open-beta for the Linux version.
When the release for Linux will be official, i would like to have this game on GoG too but i don't want to re-buy it.

Thanks,
There are reports that GSC officially updated all of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games on Steam. Apparently a game engine update to fix some Nvidia issue:

reddit STALKER found via: Eurogamer

Seems likely it breaks some mods, but I'd like to know if this update is heading GOGwards?
Hopefully you can get Star Wars Empire at War Gold up there. Steam won't accept my CD keys sadly and I recently wanted to play the game again but I was too lazy and couldn't be bothered pulling out the discs (I know where they are and everything, but just too lazy >_< ). D:

Yeah - Hopefully they will allow it :)

Ah, so that is what happened to all three of my games. It wasn`t just mods, the entire games refused to work. Shame steam doesn`t show this stuff clearly (or at all at times).

No matter, SuperGOG to the rescue \o/
Way to go!

I've been considering sending GOG an email to ask for this, but i thought, this was not going to happen since it does not earn GOG any money DIRECTLY.

I'm happy to have been proven wrong! :)

I hope this initiative will be expanded soon, i have 60+ plus game boxes, but not all of them have a code sadly.

Please investigate the possibility of sending the CD by email in those cases :)

Thanks again
Just try checking my Steam STALKER:SoC key and it's valid. impressive works GOG, thank you so much! :)
Would love this for Battle for Middle-earth! Just unsuccessfully tried to install it...
