I purchased the game Medal of Honor Warchest and uploaded it. After i clicked on 'Play' it went to a black screen and nothing happened. I did see a blue circle for a second that usually lets me know that something is loading, but nothing else happened. I started the game in Safe Mode. What is the problem, and what is the fix? I have Windows 7, Intel HD3000 graphic card, 512 GB SSD and enough other storage and 2.7GHZ, so not sure what else it could be.
What do you mean, you started the game in safe mode?

paladin181:
When I try to launch the game a screen comes up with the message that reads, "The message above those options it reads, The last time Medal of Honor Allied Assault ran it crashed. This could be due to conflicts between hardware devices on your PC. Running Allied Assault in Safe Mode will select more stable settings. You can adjust your options in-game from the options screen later. It is highly recommended your restart Windows if you have not already done so." Then, there are four options below that mesage that reads, "Play in Safe Mode (Recommended), Restart Windows, Play in Normal Mode, or Exit. Anyway, I've tried all the options and nothing works. I click it just goes to a black screen with only the mouse arrow showing. If I click on the screen and move my mouse to the edges, I can see the blue circle spinning as though the game was loading. I also get other messages after I hit escape. The first error message read, "Medal of Honor Assault has stopped working , A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I've followed all the troubleshooting suggestions from the support list in Galaxy (GOG). I've installoed 2010 DirectX runtime package, then use the DirectX installer. I extracted the files and opened it and launched the DXSETUP.exe and made sure the DEP was on the default "Turn on DEP for essential Windows prgrams and services only. I've installed dsetup32.dll and DSETUP.dll.

I have no idea what else to try. I checked to make sure my computer will support the game and it has all the minimum requirements to run the game. ***I downloaded Pacific Assualt and I have no problem launching or playing the game. Not sure why the Medal of Honor Warchest won't open (which has Spearhead and Breakthrough). Both downloaded successfully.

Any ideas and help would be great. i'm am definitely not a Tech savvy person.
From the specific game Forum, which you can access from the Game Card

https://www.gog.com/forum/medal_of_honor_series

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/black_screen

"Tick "Disable Desktop Composition" under compatibility on the shortcut for the game and see if that works."
I'm installing now to try and replicate your fault.

The problem is most likely your integrated Intel GPU.
From the game store page in the System requirements section: Other: Intel integrated graphics cards and ATI Radeon X1800 cards are not supported

I don't think you CAN run games in safe mode. Assuming you tried the no-acceleration would kill it for anything but the simplest of games.

Make sure 'run as admin' is turned off, set for XP SP3 compatibility, it might need to run in 256 colors depending on the game...

Moby Games says it's 2002-2003.

Sounds like it's a 3DFX driver/dependency issue. But that's an initial guess.

Probably DX9. Yeah seems most likely the issue.

That's why I was asking. Apparently, from his subsequent reply, the game has a "safe Mode" option.

It's actually DX7 with DX9 recommended.

Many games just do not like integrated GPU's. Really common problem.

Your problem could be the amount of ram OR the integrated card Mostly the integrated card

I'm suddenly reminded, a number of older systems had shared memory. So if i had 512Mb ram, i could put 32Mb to video memory, giving me 480Mb workable ram for games/OS.

For older games (2005 and earlier)... 128Mb is probably what you need, beyond that i couldn't say, at least for integrated.

Getting an older used/refurbished10 years old video card might work for most games (and be very cheap)

The system requirements for Warchest are:

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 1.8GHz / AMD Sempron 2200+
Graphics: AMD Radeon X1270 or NVIDIA GeForce 6500
System Memory: 512 MB RAM
Storage: 1.5 GB Hard drive space
DirectX 9 Compatible Graphics Card

Yeah doesn't look like the intel 3000 is gonna do it
Don't listen to everyone saying it's your GPU.

It's just a buggy game.

"Not supported" does not mean "won't work", it means "we don't give a fuck."

And why do you suppose they are unsupported? Because they are exceptionally problematic and most often do not work. I swear, in this world of "can't offend anyone" even shitty integrated GPUs have advocates. The game crashing on unsuitable GPUs doesn't make the game buggy.

None of those people in the linked thread had the same issue as the OP. And no one with an integrated Intel GPU seems to have found a solution. The problem is the game needs specific hardware/software to run, and the Intel GPUs lack some of that.

turn up the gamma

*rimshot*

And on a depressing side note, there are like four people in here that can stand to put up with my bullshit and two of them are fighting with each other. XD

Laziness. FYI, I have not played a single GOG game on a supported system, even though I've played quite a few GOG games over the past 5 years...

Yes, I am one. I gamed on Intel GPUs exclusively for years.. I could not find a title that doesn't work because of the GPU!

The GPU is most likely suitable. The game crashes because there is an unpatched bug in the game.

Bollocks. I posted a solution, and I have played through the entire game on Intel graphics. I don't know if OP is suffering the same problem that I posted a solution for, but it is a known bug that affects many people so it's pretty obvious to start with that, no?
