If you’ve been hanging around for a while, especially in the <a href=”"http://www.gog.com/games">games tab</a>, you may have noticed that the growing number of items on our virtual shelf was inching closer and closer to our very first thousand - lo and behold, just this week we made it through our first 1k.

We could start off by thanking the Academy, our moms, and hoping for world peace - and it's not that we don't want to say all those things, but before we do, we want to thank the most important people that made it possible - all of YOU. It may sound a bit turgid and you might not believe that we're tearing up a little as we click "publish" on this piece of news, but you guys are the ones that make GOG.com what it is and our reason to continue bringing you more great games.

Before we break out the fruit punch, though, we want to honor those of you who almost caught up with us. We dug through our records and picked fifty users that have the most boxes on their own virtual shelves.

Let's all give an alphabetically ordered round of applause to:

Antarian, astrugar710, atomsword, AutumnYears, baketomato, Barry_Woodward, benjam47, budejovice, CuriousTwoAtGOG, Darthmort, Disciple_of_Doom, djr155, DonCorleon, Gersen, gorrrrrr, Heirgeir, howardtduck2005, ilcollezionista, jabba1971, JDelekto, KajQrd, kiwy, Kodijack, kotokimura, Lafazar, liquidBass, lobo_1, Loenas, maweball, mrkgnao, MTR77, Murfallo, mwmwm, n0nam3, OlK76, onthemike, palyea, Pantoprazol, sbaylus, Serpico, ShadowWulfe, Silvanus2004, soulroar, tippete, TrevWar, turbond, vasyl, VuA, xckx, and ZombieGum.

We will be contacting these guys personally for T-shirt sizes and mailing addresses for a little, personalized thank-you. We are off to celebrate - but before we go, here's to another thousand digital boxes on the GOG.com shelf!
Oh shit, busted...

budejovice: Oh shit, busted...
But you, mrkgnao and xckx are the only ones that hangs out on the forums lately :(
Can I get a Tshirt too? I would have bought a new one but spent the money on 702 GOG games instead...
(And I own 80% of the remaining already - from the good old days as it were).

Seriously great work people - couldn't imaging the internet without GOG, and am no longer friends with anyone who disagrees.

Cheers

Your love for GOG is evident from your posts on the forum and we didn't really need any confirmation in that regard. ;)

JDelekto: I have a code for Witcher 3 to give away, but it has to be at random by another poster here. If they cannot comply with the rules, I will forfeit after 24 hours and put the code up for takers on GOG's twitch stream.
+1 for your generosity! I hope your rather unique giveaway is successful.
Congratulations to GOG and to... us!
Congrats, GOG.com, but I hope you will do much better in the future. There is still so many old games that need to be re-relised, so many indies, and so many new games that don't need drm. :D

Thank you, hopefully it will be given away.
So, GOG ate my reply, I hope this one goes through

JDelekto: The rules, as you have set forth are:

b) it must be any living person on this earth;
I never mentioned that, when I "said" everyone (I should have written any user, sorry for that) it was implicit they were people from this community (excluding bots and scammers, for obvious reasons, and yeah, I know GOG can't do much to stop them entering said contest or giveaway, beggars are another story). BTW, following your line of thought, all the living persons in the International Space Station should also be eligible ;)

JDelekto: If you cannot find a person to redeem this code in 24 hours, the gift code will be in your hands. Are you willing to accept this challenge?
I'm already planning to do a small giveaway, so I will not accept the challenge. Sorry for failing you :(
I hope you can find a good home for your gift, good luck :)

I would love to see a ton of Atari, Coleco-Vision, Magnavox Oddyssey (and Oddysey2), TimeEx Sinclair, Commodore 64, Vic 20, TI-99/4A and TRS-80 games come to light. So much dedication for others on so many other platforms deserves to see their work see the light of day.

There are probably emulators and games for all, but I would like to see someone take one of those to the next level!
Gotta post this. XD

No I don't mean it, but it always makes me laugh.
Very cool GOG, though I had hoped you would have also celebrated with a freeware release. ;-)

Still, props to you giving shoutouts to those who have so many many games here! Barry and mrkgnao I know deserve the shirts and hopefully other goodies. :)

I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to give The Witcher 3 a good home. If you are willing to accept a less random selection process, Magog has a list of people who have publicly posted The Witcher 3 as part of their wishlist.

GOG.com: *ding*
Since you have been kind enough to name me in your OP, I hope you read this reply.

1) Thank you for honouring the commitment that I have made to your store. I am indeed honoured.

2) Not wishing to sound ungrateful, but I don't really wear logo T-shirts. Can I make a giveaway and gift it to some other no-less-deserving member of the community (and we both know there are many such that just happen to have less games)?

3) As for making "it through our first 1k", here is an experiment I would like you to do. Go to the page 20 of your "games tab". Here is a link: http://www.gog.com/games##sort=bestselling&amp;page=20. These are games 951-1000 in your catalogue. Now click on the right-pointing triangle at the bottom, to move to page 21. You can't, can you? I have called this the Y1K bug and I have reported it more than 48 hours ago. Until you fix it, you have not really made "it through [y]our first 1k", because "all of US" cannot see it.

4) If I may, I would like to use this opportunity, where I am briefly in your limelight, to draw your attention to a few posts of mine:

You have recently patted yourself on the back for your customer service. I trust I need not further explain why this has not felt particularly convincing to me.

5) Among the 50 people named in your OP, it is not unlikely that I have a further distinction. It is quite possible that I am the only one on that list that not only has the bulk of your catalogue, but also has zero games anywhere else. At some point (in 2011, I believe), I decided to tie my gaming hobby to your store. I decided to slowly buy most of the catalogue to support your store and to feed my collecting needs (yes, I like to collect things -- complete unexpandable things). Ever since, I have more or less hovered around owning ~90% of your catalogue. I traded away, gifted, sold, or thrown away all my physical games. I deleted the few digital games I had bought from the Humble Indie Bundle before that point (note: I traded away the links to the HIB pages to another collector on your 50-list; I know some might frown on this, but I have no moral problem with it, given that I deleted the games and barely played any of them). I never subscribed to any other digital distributor (certainly not one that requires a client). Why am telling you this? Because...

6) I am afraid it is quite likely I will not be listed in the OP of your 2000 games thread. One of the reasons I had tied myself to you were your principles (remember them?). You have changed over the years and that's OK. I didn't like some of the changes (e.g. DLCs, regional pricing) and I have said so, but I have adapted. However, when you made the decision that having a user interface in German is more important to you than allowing everyone in the world -- be they in China, Pakistan, Australia or Germany -- have access to this page: http://www.gog.com/game/commandos_ammo_pack, I could bear it no longer (and I am not even talking yet about buying the game; I am merely talking yet about the simple decency of having "all of US" share the same website experience -- YOUR website). I decided I will be slowly cutting off my ties with you. I will continue buying the games released before February 25, 2015 (the day regional banning was introduced), but not those after. Knowing me, I will make some rare exceptions (I have already been gifted a few), but the days of buying the bulk of your catalogue are over. I am already looking for a substitute website. Not surprisingly, I can find none.

7) The past month or two have been a sad, angry time for me. You had played a central part in my life; you still do. I have invested a lot of effort, time and money here; I still do. I wish I could remain a loyal customer of yours, but I cannot support your regional banning. I am willing to suffer many (not any) setbacks that may come with reversing it, but I am old enough to know this will not happen.

Congratulation to GoG for this millestone!

(Even thought technically if you count the removed games the 1000th game was reached some weeks ago ;) )

Hopefully in a bunch of months we will all be able to celebrate the 2000th DRM-free game released here :-)
