TheBigLLS: It will be even easier if there was some sort of 2-step verification system like any major site has.
Will remove most of people problems imo.

Dunno why it wasn't implemented yet.

Genital authentication?

well fuck

I can't type for shit!

You know one of these days I'm going to find something I am good at! :P

blotunga: GOG really should think about 2FA. It's gone on for long enough. Even Indiegala has 2FA, how hard can it be?
avatar
retrofuture: It shouldn't be. I've just had my account unlocked, and being left with a page in Russian isn't very good either. I've sorted that, but a fair few people couldn't (and shouldn't have too). There must be a way to reset accounts back to the original region, without translating a page and taking a stab at buttons which are still in a foreign language.
And now I have Witcher 3 in my inventory but can't delete it. I haven't purchased it...
Enjoy it. At least some good came out of your troubles.

You're obviously very good at confusion, both ways.
I'm confused now.

Are you a follower of this one accidentally ending up with Cthulhu like many of those? ;)

Hmm, maybe he thought when you said "genital authentication", you meant "typing out a given phrase correctly with one's genitals". I'm not sure how that would help authenticate one's identity, but it would certainly be an interesting talent. =D
Are GOG accounts good targets for hackers? Any profits for them? I don't think so.
I would like to see 2 factor verification through email, phone text or an app like Authy.

Reselling on the black market / grey markets you numpty!
You can already get basically every single video game on piratebay or whatever for free with drm-removed. We buy things here because we want to pay for them and support the industry and whatnot. I don't see any point in someone actually buying a stolen account when they can just pirate the game for free to begin with.

But what about very, very stupid/sheltered people? People who think 'The Pirate Bay' is the name of that new bar downtown, and for whom a "torrent" is what takes place in the bar's bathroom after an evening of drinking? How are they to get their illegal games? From sketchy people selling accounts (...I wonder what they charge?...) that the new "owners" will likely lose access to within a week, that's how!
To stupidity and beyond!

retrofuture: Looks like I'm Russian now (I'm in UK).
On the bright side, games are now a lot cheaper for you than they were before. Thanks, Regional Pricing! ; )

In all seriousness, though, I do hope it gets sorted out for you.

Trilarion: Actually why would anyone be interested in taking over a GOG account? After all instead of downloading the games from GOG you can as well download them from somewhere else. Are they hoping to maybe find spare gift codes? Or is it pure sadism?
Newly-created accounts cannot use credit cards (e.g. stolen ones) to buy gift codes (e.g. to be sold on G2A) for a period of two months. Old accounts can.

You say stealing accounts is only an intermediate step on the way to proft? Well in this case, the best may be to try to shutdown G2A and thereby kill any incentive for stealing accounts. Unfortunately i guess this is not so simple.

This is not so bad. You could either:
- ask GOG to please remove it (they can surely do that)
- see it as a compensation for the bad time you had

Would now be a good time to be changing our passwords?
