Big changes are here.

My Account is the heart of your GOG.com experience. It's the one place that's 100% yours, and the place you always go to download your games and manage the entire library.
Starting today, your My Account is completely new - remade and redesigned from scratch to better support our growing library of games and many of your biggest requests. Aside from every usability fix we could think of, we've also introduced brand new tools to keep your library organised, and new social features to stay in touch with your friends.

The list of new features is long, but you can see the whole thing on our forums. The most important highlights include:

--Support for friends lists and chat.
--Shared wishlists.
--Advanced filtering and custom tags for your library.
--A new, detailed order history.
--Accessible game changelogs.

We're sure that these new changes will greatly improve your overall user experience on GOG.com, and we can't wait to hear what you think on the wishlist and right here in the comments!
So...you say that all of my PMs are preserved in the new Chat section. However, when I go there, all it tells me is that I have no friends. Will it only show old PMs if I add the corresponding person to my Friends List? Does that mean the rest are essentially gone? Why even store them at that point? Also, maybe I need to see my PMs to determine who should be on my Friends List. Some users have changed their Usernames and/or Avatars which can make remembering past experiences with them difficult at a glance. Being able to refer to old PMs always helped out with that. Is there some way to access these invisible PMs that I am missing?

yyahoo: It's now ridiculously ugly. So much wasted space to just list the name of the game below the art... Why does the game name have to be listed twice when it's already in the box art? If people want to see text, let the choose the list view. I just want the old box art back. After all the work that was put in to add box art for the unbundling now it's just completely gone?

Hate, hate, hate the forced page size limit. Now if I want to browse my library I have to go through 10 pages? This is supposed to encourage me to buy more, so I can just add more pages? Really?
I agree with everything said above. What's the point of "preserving" the shelf if the only part of it that is left is the actual shelf itself. What happened to the wall they're supposed to be attached to? And if I want to have all my games on one page, I should be able to.

Senteria: I never used manual sorting. I never cared much for that feature so I don't miss it in the slightest.

However you can still sort manually. :)

It's very hard work but if you're so dedicated for manual sorting this is how you do it:

Make a tag for every game title you can think of. This can be as simple as 1, 2, 3 ,4, etc. The game you want to be on top you start with the first character that will appear (since games are sorted alphabetically based on tag) then after you made a tag for every game you activate all of your custom made tags and voila, you sorted your games manually. =D

I guess if you got 1000 games, you need to make 1000 tags, but hey you got manual sorting still!
According to http://www.gog.com/forum/general/my_account_big_changes_on_the_horizon you only get fifty tags.

Nope. Since you can only filter by tags not sort by them. So even if you set tags for everything and activate all of them, the sorting is still done either by title or purchase date.
Live chat implies that when I send a message, I am immediately available to respond to replies. This typically isn't true. I don't use the PM system for realtime conversations. So I expect to find live chat socially awkward. That is, I'll feel somewhat compelled to stick around until a conversation is explicitly concluded, which is burdensome.

Discrete messages are better. I can communicate without the expectations inherent to a system labelled "chat".

Is there any way to eliminate the pagination of the library? Maybe an option hidden somepalce for 'number of games per page' or something?

I used to be able to go to my library, wait a minute (for the icons to load), then print it to PDF; and thus have a handy offline listing off all my games (and also a handy way to cross-check new-to-old listings if anything goes missing).

Now (with currently 500+ games), I have to PAGE-RIGHT SIX TIMES, each time doing the whole 'print to PDF' thing over again, while also having to add 'Append to existing PDF' each time. Not to mention I have to scroll EVERY PAGE to the bottom to get to the <Next page> clicks.

Here it says,

It doesn't!

What was easy and convenient is now TONS more hassle to print my library for offline.

Am I missing that option someplace?

Sorry, but not much impressed by the changes.

I liked the tags, but I've find too hard to actually use them (particularly scrolling the tag list for each game).
Easy to access links for the GOG downloader is a must for me.
Features seems to be hidden in menus and submenus
Game changelogs will be great, but I've found no one so far (I looked in a few of the games marked as updates)

Also, not a big point, but I liked a lot the old wooden shelf style, with all games on a single page.

I hope much of this will be fixed soon.

You better make it 100, 200, 300 or similar. Otherwise you're going to have to re-tag a crapload next time you add a another game into the mix... :)

johnnygoging: Is there a button somewhere for the refresh page? when did account/refresh go away and user/refresh show up? thanks for the heads up.
no button, but you can find a link in Support -> Website FAQ -> Downloads and streaming -> Q no 10.

Trilarion: But it's the only thing we can do. Just mention at every possibility how poor the new look looks and maybe they will get annoyed by it too and change it.
That worked really grayt the last time we didn't like design changes...

Having said that, I 1-upped your wishlist for bringing the boxes back since I also prefer them.
I started with "View as {list}", "Sort by {Title}".
Then I see a small notification at the top: "My collection (..., 1 updated)"

1 updated... which one? I've been going back and forth through this list 3 times, looking for any recognizable marking that indicates which of my titles was updated... I can't find it. I don't see any special markings for the updated title, like there used to be in the past.
Then I clicked on the "My Collection" and selected "Updated (1)". Strange but true, it now says:
"Updated (1): No results found." WTF???

Can we please have that marking for updated titles back? Also, how about an option to sort on "Date last updated" ?

Yeah, I went through and tagged the games I've played, but it would be nice to be able to search by games NOT tagged as (whatever). Otherwise I'd have to go through every single game and add a tag for not having played it first. I'm sure there are other reasons to want to sort by NOT having a particular tag too.

Taking away manual sorting really sucks, and will drastically decrease my user experience of the site. I just don't trust GOG to not fuck up game sorting. I just don't believe they will think of sorting Riven after Myst, for example.
Well, seems like I was right. Several series orders in my library are completely butchered.
Thanks, GOG.com, for taking away choice and making my library shittier.

WTF?! I just spent forever manually resorting all of my games after the great unbundling debacle and now I have to do it all over again -- AND the only way to do it now is a complicated system of assigning tags instead of simple drop and drag? Sorry, but this truly sucks.

I could care less about the "Steam-like" social media aspects offered in this change -- if I wanted them, I'd be using Steam. This change just gave me a ton of crap I don't want, and took away the things I enjoyed most. What's next? Steam-like restrictions on my ability to download and back up the game files?

I'll be happy with a mobile friendly site when I can play all my games on my 42 inch smartphone. Until then I like sites for PC games to be PC friendly.

I don't like the changes to my account. I'll come back in a week and see if they've been fixed into something usable.
