Hi GOGers,
With the arrival of Mr. Awesome, a.k.a. Duke Nukem, we’ve prepared a selection of mods exclusively for all the’s fans, along with some impressions of one of our Support/QA guys, Skreczi.
High Resolution Mod
Skreczi said:
HEEEEELLLLLLL YEAH! The best mod ever! It brings Duke Nukem 3D into full 3D with fully tri-dimensional monsters, weapons and items! Totally must have for everyone! Still reading it? Don’t waste more time – download it now!
Duke Plus
Skreczi said:
Full of new features (weather effects, new light effects, transparent water etc.), new gameplay elements, new weapons and much more. Also come with new levels that demonstrate capabilities of this babe :) Two thumbs up!
Hellduke TC!

Pretty cool total conversion in DooM style. There are some strange things like flying Imps and you have mini UZI instead of a pistol but this mod has some potential. Level design is not that bad, some monster still needs to be implemented but if you are a DooM fanboy you should definitely give it a try.
Naferias Reign - Invasion of The Dark Mistress
Skreczi said:
Duke Nukem with some action RPG elements. Play as Duke or other character in his team. New voice acting, more intelligent enemies, plus characters with their own special abilities and levels. Very cool and fun to play :)
Infestation in Time TC
Skreczi said:
Pretty good mod and a few new episodes taking action in the Duke Nukem universe. It has implemented some things from Duke Plus and it’s compatible with Duke Nukem High Res mod. A bit complicated but still a pretty good job.
Weapon of Mass Destruction
Skreczi said:
Very well made total conversion where you can buy additional stuff and abilities, jump into your own skycar, kick some more alien butts, use new awesome skills and level up your guns! Very fun to play!
Aliens vs. Duke
Skreczi said:
Very impressive total conversion that have everything that Alien Mod should have – weapons specific to Alienverse, atmosphere and cool model of Xenomorphs (including deadly facehugger).
Borg Nukem
Skreczi said:
Total conversion that brings Duke Nukem 3D to the Star Trek universe. It starts on Borg Cube and leads you through some mediocre design levels. To battle Borg you can use phasers, rifles and some other deadly Star Trek weaponry.

If you want a good mod to try out

check out Duke Nukem Forever......i'm not talking about the actual game that got released
Anyone want to help me out on this?

I downloaded hd duke nukem and load it with eduke32.exe and it says its only a demo? Why?

When i load with gog launcher i dont see any hd version?

What am i doing wrong?

Read the HPR readme :)

But basically, the HPR version only contains the shareware version of the game. So for it to work, you need to copy and paste the original duke3d.grp file into the folder where you installed the HPR version of the game. This will override the shareware version, thus enabling you to play the full game with HPR! Hopefully that makes sense.

For example on my comp, i installed the GOG version of DN3D to c:/gog games/duke nukem. In that folder is a duke3d.grp file. When i installed the HPR, i installed it to c:/gog games/duke nukem - HPR. Then i copied duke3d.grp from the duke nukem folder and pasted it into the HPR one. Have to say yes to replace the existing file. Then launch the game with the eduke3d.exe from the HPR folder and it's good to go.

I also highly recommend the duke plus mod as well, if you are using HPR... it adds lots of cool tweaks and graphical updates.

I recommend the episode Metropolitan Mayhem (you can find it on moddb, this forum won't let me psot links), it's an episode by 4 different mappers made as an homage to the original game city maps. However it requires eduke32 to run simply for the fact that the episode is 15maps long (which the original game doesn't support). Each map runs in original Duke3D though so if you really want to play the maps in dosbox though, you can extract the maps of the episode .grp file and play them individually with the program grpviewer (but you wouldn't be carrying over your gear from map to map; but it plays fine anyway).

Also, there are two mods based on duke3D's eduke32 which are like whole new games, WGRealms 2 and AMC TC. Both are standalone and don't even require the game but totally worth checking out.
