Fans of this classic strategy title are in for a real treat! Everything is in here from the terrific comedy cut scenes to the frantic game play, making this the definitive version of Z.
Under the command of General Zod, it is your job to take control of chain smoking, foul-mouthed, abusive, alcoholic robot-grunts, whose
main purpose is to battle it out on different planets of the universe. That is, if they're not currently crashing the ship they're on!
Advance through the landscape and take over abandoned factories and radar sites which will help you produce more vehicles and weapons to aid your army to victory. This is not a drill, soldier! Every decision counts, and if you screw up, you will be punished for it. General Zod is ready to rumble and makes no bones about it! Z is simply the fastest, funniest, most frantic, feature-packed action-strategy game you'll play this century!

As a Child i loved the Game. But this badly port ruined this. :( The Mouse controll ist Terible
Its looks like they take to less time to rise the Quality of the Gameport.
This is one of my all-time favourites in RTS. I've played tons of the
first DOS version, the Windows 95 version ("Z and Expansion") and Z2:
Steel Soldiers. You can see that this one's a port of a mobile version
of the game, since it's still lacking Multiplayer, and the UI is a bit
odd at places. However the developers seem to be committed to ironing
out those flaws. The interface problems (strange mapping of mouse
buttons etc.) that were criticized on initial release are already gone,
cutscenes are played in full screen now. So please don't listen to the
low ratings if you liked the original game and if you can abstain on
Multiplayer (I think it will also be added in at some point, as they
have already added it to some of the mobile versions at some point after
release). Try "The Zod Engine" (an Open-Source remake, mostly abandoned
though) if you want it for the Multiplayer side. If the DOS and/or
Windows versions get added as a bonus at some point by gog.com, this is
an absolute must-have, but I guess license problems are preventing that
at the moment.
Sorry, but this Version of Z is an iOS/Android Port. Controls optimized for touch and not for Keyboard/Mouse.
Some UI Changes are for Touch-Devices too and a kind of sh** for Key/Mouse.
Use DosBox or Boxer (if you are a Mac User) and play the original one.
I LOVE THIS GAME, "Z" or "ZED" from 1996 is bitmap brothers best game in my opinion, pure fun RTS, that does its own thing and not copy "Command & Conquer" like many others did at the time. the plot is about two metal-head (no pun intended) robot dudes named brad and allan driving a supply ship in space to their commander zod, already behind schedule landing their ship in some planet while the two robot factions are at war, you’re mission is to wipe them out completely. It relies heavy on quick thinking and timing, despite being an RTS at its core and also combines elements like capture the flag and enemies vehicles as a strategy key. This game is pure fun and difficult later on. Sadly this version is the 2011 remake for iOS/Android, not the DOS or WIN95 version. Setup for touch screen in mind, it means not only visually it looks a bit off, and also gameplay and sound wise. It does look like a butchered easier version. Better off just look for the dos version or win95 version (there's a patch for win95 version for modern systems but it needs some digging/setup to do it).
