Picked this up a few years ago and picked it up to play it again and again since then. This game is not only a great RTS game but just reading into how much effort and love went into the design was amazing. Great story that keeps you intrested the throughout the single player. Ive heard great things about the multiplayer but cant give a opinion on it myself. Good in-game visuals for 2019, cutscenses are a little dated now but its like watching a old war movie, it adds to the flare. Overall great game and great choice for anyone that likes RTS games with a realistic modern touch.
I have a massive collection of strategy games, that I only began aquiring since 2016. I guess I am a late bloomer, but I had ignored the strategy genre my entire gaming life, which goes back to the beginning of gaming in the 70's, and man do I ever regret that. I have such a massive backlog now, as a result of my having found the strategy genre at such a late stage, that I only recently began playing this particular game. Better late than never, is what I say.
I had read countless times how great this game is, and when I began trying to play it, I found that the game would not launch on my system, which eventually we found it was due to my CPU having too many cores. Anyhow, I finally got it working and dove in. While I am still in the process of playing it, I will say this, it is, IMO, the greatest strategy game I have ever played. That would include both turn-based and real-time games. This game is simply perfect in just about every way. Graphics - check, awesome story - check, fantastic gameplay - check. This game is the perfect blend of all of those things, and my hopes have now become that Massive will one day, find it in themselves to set the Division aside for a moment, and give us a proper follow up. Hey, a guy can dream, can't he? So, back to this game,, I just wanted to make my thoughts known, so that I might steer just a few more people, who might be sitting on the fence at this late stage, to purchase this masterpiece. A lot of devs out there should play this game, and take some notes, for sure.
In my opinion this is one of the best RTS games out there. Graphically it's still very pleasing and I love the story I believe it to be a vvvery unique take on the 'what if' the cold war went hot. Normally I prefer base building games like in the OG Company of Heros or Dawn of War but the unit management in this is more like being a real field commander and only being able to have a few units to control at any given time so learning to maxamise your forces. Both campaigns have great stories and characters you will like or like to hate. Even a few tear jerker moments in there as well. Defiently a game worth playing if you are and RTS fan.
Great cinematic, great story, solid gameplay where all units can provide utility in fights unlike other strategy games which really on Rock-Paper-Scissors combat, solid-enough AI, fun missions.
My only complaint with the game would be that I would have to see even more of it and that I would have loved to see more factions instead of being limited to just too.
I wholeheartedly recommend the game.
Though I must say to any potential buyers that there are some gamebreaking issues which require downloading external fixes. These are however easy to find and implement so they don't affect my review score.
