I've tried this game when it was released on 3440x1440.
I could not play it due to the insane huge HUD at ultrawide resolutions.
There is no option to adjust the HUD.
6 years later this issue is still present.
At 5120x1440, this HUD is huge.
I can only see my character lower part of the legs in the inventory 🤣.
I am only 4 hours in the game and can recommend it especially when it was 50% off. I was not aware this game existed only saw it on the GOG bestseller list and thought hey for 50% off I give it a try - I am glad I did.
I like ARPG once in a while, just for fun hack and slash through enemies and collecting loot. I had a rough start with the first hour with the game but then the game hooked me. I like low Fantasy setting of the game so everything is a bit more in tune with the Vikings with only a bit of magic / fantasy sprinkled into it. I like the enemy design, controls are fluid (I use an Xbox One Elite Controller) and you have to be on your toes and evade some of the stronger blow.
I like the idea with the healing item that can re-charge. I LOVE that it automatically picks up all items (every ARPG needs to have that). The skill tree is fine, the skills are interesting so far. Some boss fights are a bit tougher and I had to grind a bit to gain a level but that is fine. I like that the rights are really boss fights with some interesting mechanics (nothing new, but at least it requires a bit more than just hacking away).
Only issue I have that with my rig (7900X, 1080 Ti) the game "stutters" it is not that it has very low fps but I think the frame pacing or something is off at least it does not fell as fluid as it should no matter what I do with the settings. Its playable but noticeable that it's not fluid.
Graphics 8/10
Gameplay 7/10
Story 7/10
I bought this game because I have this sudden urge to play norse-god-related game AFTER I watched Infinity War (All hail Thor and his new weapon) and because I don't own a Playstation (Could not play God of War 4) and somehow this game kinda satisfies my needs.
It's getting repetitive after a while, reminds me of Torchlight.
Otherwise, it's fine.
Beware - the game has great visuals and is a ton of fun to play, but it is not a roguelike ARPG in the vein of Diablo, Torchlight, or Path of Exile. This is the one thing I wish I had known before purchasing.
It plays like a Torchlight-style ARPG, but the maps are the same every time. On top of this, the game is quite hard at harder difficulty settings. If you're like me and you only enjoy ARPGs in ironman mode, you will be replaying the same maps over and over and over again. Regretted purchase!
