Aged like fine wine

I planned to play this game way back when it released but we all know by now how bugged it was when it released. Then there were the issues with different versions of Windows and newer hardware but now it's as easy as clicking play. As for the game, I'm honestly surprised because even though I have been playing games from before the time this game released there are some QOL features you just get used to and feel hard to get back to some older games. There are some some things in which it didn't age well, like the stealth, or how to use disciplines but honestly, this game is so immersive you can easily overlook these complains. Characters are nicely written, ambience is good, the quests treat you like an intelligent person. Honestly, it's quite refreshing. Also, I'd like to add that I'm a fan of the tabletop Vampire RPG and for those like me this is a must play. If you are on the fence and anything I said has picked your interest, give it a shot. If you are scared of antiquated gameplay I even advise using some console commands to give yourself a bit of money and xp and easy you in for the first playthrough.

Essential for VTM:B

This really should come pre-installed with the game considering how much it does. It cleans up so many of the bugs and makes everything that much smoother. You can proceed without the Patch, but this is a herculean effort and the difference is noticible. If you're not a purist or doing some sort of challenge or speedrun, then this is how you want to experience VTM:B.

Sensational mod

I've had this via the other popular digital distribution platform for years and so it's a comfortable 5/5 for the mod. Wesp5 is a true legend for creating and maintaining it. However the GOG experience is severely lacking. It hasn't been patched properly with many files missing from a properly-patched copy (that's why we're getting "Node Graph Out of Date" errors on the GOG installs). This early in to the GOG Mods project is when I'd least expect to see this sort of issue. I've reported it to the dev who said he'd also noticed it and told GOG about it weeks ago. This is an active mod which should be getting frequent updates anyway so it's simply unacceptable. I don't want to dissuade anyone from buying it hence I am keeping it a 5 star review but GOG, at time of writing, need to step it up.

The Best

EN: What more can I say? The mod is the fruit of a lot of hard work. I think I even remember that some of the former developers of the time took part in the mod's creation. Why did I remove one star? Because, for some strange reason, according to its listing, the mod is only available in English on GOG, even though it is normally available in other languages. I haven't checked in the game, but I prefer to warn you. I will add the missing star when other languages are supported. FR: Que dire de plus ? Ce mod est le fruit d'un travail acharné. Je crois même me souvenir que certains des anciens développeurs de l'époque ont participé à sa création. Pourquoi ai-je retiré une étoile ? Parce que, pour une raison étrange, selon sa fiche, le mod n'est disponible qu'en anglais sur GOG, alors qu'il est normalement disponible dans d'autres langues. Je n'ai pas vérifié dans le jeu, mais je préfère vous prévenir. J'ajouterai l'étoile manquante lorsque d'autres langues seront prises en charge.
